Dancing With the Stars - Spring 2017

I would have liked to see Simone dance more with Sasha than on her own. It was awesome but did remind me of a gymnastic routine too.

Voted for Rossy (of course). I think the jive is always hard for all but the best dancers. All the other dance types tonight were not as hard. But, everyone has to dance the jive at one time or another and I thought Rossy handled it well.

Parts of Rossy's dance were good but he looked so stiff. I wonder if it was partially because of his costume.

I noticed he looked stiff too in the torso. I think it was because he tweaked his back during rehearsal.

It could be that too, but the costume was all stiff vertical lines. It had a fake belt that was barely visual and did not cinch at all. He looked like a giant orange dancing candy bar.

I dislike it when the songs that are assigned are almost impossible to dance the assigned style of dance too. Then you know the judges are going to critique that.

I enjoyed Simone and Sasha's dance but it was more a freestyle then an actual dance. Seems to me like she is being pushed to win by TPTB since she got contemporary.

I am thrilled Maks is back next week. Another poster mentioned if the dancer is injured, he shouldn't be allowed to assist in the routine along with the replacement dancer. Maks isn't the first. Derek was the worst. When he was injured, he not only choreographed, he was in at least one of the dances. If I recall correctly, Sasha was the replacement dancer and the dance was set on a train car.

When Rossy walked up to the pitchers mound last Wednesday at Wrigley to throw out the first pitch, he was limping. Also, somewhere he commented how bad his feet were hurting, and then the back happened. I think it has been a rough week for him. His book also came out and he had a lot of travel/commitments/signings for that as well. All the contestants are busy, tho (well, maybe not Pinocchio) While I agreed with the flat footed comments, I wish they had also said the live musical performance didn't do the dance any favors. I liked the dance, Lindsay was wound up to level gazillion..Grampa really did dance the jive pretty decent but no way can he keep up with her, lol~not sure anyone can! For anyone who knows David, speed is NOT his forte (unless it is with his arm throwing a guy out) for him personally? That dance was fantastic! Of course I liked it, but I don't think the 29 was all that fair. Looks like Bonner got hit with a 7 as well. My question of the night is how did Heather get the "Character -driven" thoughts over a guy dancing as a race car? lol. I just can't warm up to Heather and a, also glad Erika is gone. Ever since she told Gleb "Your job is to make me look good"~ I was out. Looks like a Normani, Nancy, Rashad fnale shaping up....if it is it will be a WOWzer!

I was disappointed that Rashaad had an off night.
I've been a fan!

While I have not been rooting for Simone, and have seen her as a 'gymnast'...
OMG.. Loved, LOVED, L O V E D their dance last night!!!!
I now see her as a huge contender.
Yes, they took advantage of her gymnastics. Which they should. But, it was definitaly also a wonderful and beautiful dance routine.
The choreography was AMAZING.

I also hate this music choice thing.
Cannot see how they can assign a type of dance with a very different type of music.
Who in the heck is doing this??????

I think it was a huge 'breakout' night for many of the personalities, as they have become more comfortable.
I am not a Nick fan... at all... no way.
But, I was wowed by his performance, and agreed with the scores!
I wonder if he can carry this confidence and attitude over to a more traditional dance category next week?
I was glad that Erika went home, instead of Nick.
I would rather see him one more time....

Arielle, Simone had the Contemporary dance category. As all of the couples will.
Contemporary is a more modern and freestyle type of dance, by definition.
The types of lifts and flips that they did are all included and okay with this type of dance.
I had no problem with that... And it would have been disappointing if they had not taken full advantage of this.

I know they had Contemporary and on DTWS that usually means whatever steps they like. However I find it unfair that on a night when the others had song/dance style combos that were difficult, they got lobbed a soft ball.

Yep, That hair-style was  !!!!

There is still a ways to go in this season... I think they are just holding off on the perfect '40' scores!

I thought Rashad did really, really well considering the music was impossible to dance to. He looks great in frame, but Bonner got all the credit for that last night. (And Sharna has a boyfriend, ya'lll) Loved the "Cowboy up" quip from Sharna.

Nancy and Artem were not expecting to start right that second, but Nancy snapped right in when she heard the music. I think with all her training, she can't help being ON when that music starts. It's serving her well, she did great.

Sorry, did not really like Normani's dancing in this. She threw herself into it so hard that she was off balance at times, and looked more aggressive than Val. Good moments though.

Nick, hmmm. Seemed kind of mean to give someone that music but they handled it with good grace. Very odd routine for DWTS. Kind of the same comment for Heather, sort of straight up Broadway.

Simone was good, kind of agreed with the scores. Lacked a bit of connection I think. Poor David, absolutely yes his body is breaking down. Dancing numerous hours a day is tough, even Simone mentioned being sore. He's a really likable guy but not sure his dancing is improving.

I think Erica was pretty upset, but it's only the most common courtesy to thank your Pro (or even acknowledge they are there) when it's your time to go. She should be happy she went out with a good dance. I thought it was going to be Nick, the judges were being so nice to him.

I never understand why they give them songs which are hard to dance to.

Awe, I loved Derek's choreography on that dance. It was to "Honey I'm Good" by Andy Grammer, and I thought it fit the song and the situation so well!

If a pro dancer has a season ending injury I think they should step back and let whoever is filling in for them take over the partnership and the choreography, but if they're planning on coming back (as both Derek and now Maks were/are), I think they should stay involved. JMHO though.

I agree it was great choreography but I thought Derek worked very hard to make sure he was in the dance. There was another dance where he was seated in a thrown playing a king (I think) while the couple danced for him

I am fine with the injured pro being involved. I was just pointing out Maks isn't the first or the most involved.

think it's a way to cull the herd.

I don't know. I think there are only so many song that they have the rights to. And maybe there are some songs they have to push. Some just aren't dance-able to the dances that they get. “Wreck-It Ralph” should just not be a song that should be paired with what should be a sexy & intense tango.

I liked Simone but thought that Normani could have blown it away.

:crazy2: That singing was the "elevator music" version of "I want it that way." :headache:
