I think anyone who has been in show biz as long as she has been, since 12, and has gone through the ups & downs of her career, can handle someone being demanding, blunt, yelling, etc., & give it right back. Before one of her Broadway shows, (I think it was King & I,) which was her professional comeback, the producers made her take singing lessons to improve her voice or they wouldn't hire her. This was some 20 years after she first started in the biz.I don't think that Marie could have been paired with Maks though. He's too demanding and blunt, she seems too sensitive for him. He needs someone that he can yell at and constantly push, but also someone who can give it right back to him.
I think Marie is a great entertainer, but only a middlin' dancer -- her charisma has, IMO, carried her this far. I agree with the judges that Jonathan needs to make those dances harder -- her dances have NO where near the difficulty that the others do. I think that if he doesn't ratchet up the choreography, the judges should start deducting a point.
Not speaking of any other weeks, but don't you think its likely Jonathan made Marie's dances last night a little easier likely due to very little time to practice this past week?
I also think that Jonathan had purposely made Marie's choreography simpler. Last week she was recovering from fainting. This week her Dad died. She was with her family that day. Another day she was traveling & on the Oprah show with her brothers. The very next day, she buried her father. She probably just didn't have as much time to master more intricate choreography. I'd love to see her come back one more week & have her & Jonathan simply hit the choreography out of the ball park. I really think she can do it, if she doesn't have all these distractions.
Jennie is starting to irritate me. Forget a dance coach or Richard Simmons -- she needs to get a therapist and work on her self esteem issues. I wonder how she ever made it as an actress with such a thin skin.
Ugh! I totally agree. Jennie's personality onstage is that of a wooden board. Her self esteem issues just get in the way. If this show was supposed to give the "stars" exposure for more & better work, she's giving herself just the opposite. Would I want to hire & work with that basket case?
