Dancing with the Stars: Season 5 OFFICAL THREAD!!! STARS ANNOUNCED!

I don't think that Marie could have been paired with Maks though. He's too demanding and blunt, she seems too sensitive for him. He needs someone that he can yell at and constantly push, but also someone who can give it right back to him.
I think anyone who has been in show biz as long as she has been, since 12, and has gone through the ups & downs of her career, can handle someone being demanding, blunt, yelling, etc., & give it right back. Before one of her Broadway shows, (I think it was King & I,) which was her professional comeback, the producers made her take singing lessons to improve her voice or they wouldn't hire her. This was some 20 years after she first started in the biz.

I think Marie is a great entertainer, but only a middlin' dancer -- her charisma has, IMO, carried her this far. I agree with the judges that Jonathan needs to make those dances harder -- her dances have NO where near the difficulty that the others do. I think that if he doesn't ratchet up the choreography, the judges should start deducting a point.
Not speaking of any other weeks, but don't you think its likely Jonathan made Marie's dances last night a little easier likely due to very little time to practice this past week?

I also think that Jonathan had purposely made Marie's choreography simpler. Last week she was recovering from fainting. This week her Dad died. She was with her family that day. Another day she was traveling & on the Oprah show with her brothers. The very next day, she buried her father. She probably just didn't have as much time to master more intricate choreography. I'd love to see her come back one more week & have her & Jonathan simply hit the choreography out of the ball park. I really think she can do it, if she doesn't have all these distractions.

Jennie is starting to irritate me. Forget a dance coach or Richard Simmons -- she needs to get a therapist and work on her self esteem issues. I wonder how she ever made it as an actress with such a thin skin.

Ugh! I totally agree. Jennie's personality onstage is that of a wooden board. Her self esteem issues just get in the way. If this show was supposed to give the "stars" exposure for more & better work, she's giving herself just the opposite. Would I want to hire & work with that basket case?

did anyone notice that edyta was looking very sad or mad or something last night? She never smiled once the whole night...

Yes. I noticed last night that she didn't seem to be happy. I don't think she was mad. She may have been sad. Maybe something going on in her life. Or maybe she's realizing that this season is coming to an end soon for her and once again she will not have the winning partner. :(

Count on as a person who is ready for Marie to go! I think her time is up. She looks more and more awkward and unable to step up her dancing, like the other stars.

Jennie & Cameron seem equal to me. I think Mel B is the clearly the better dance but Helio has the Julianne factor so it will probably come down to those two for the finals.

I can't believe I'm liking Maks this year, he's always given me the creeps. I think he and Mel are a GREAT match, she's just as obnoxious as he is. Their attitudes actually equal their passion on the floor. I love them.

I'm kind of sick of Julianne, sorry, fans. This is like a repeat of last year with her dancing with the leprechaun... ugh... sorry, short small men have ALWAYS given me the creeps!! :scared: Why? because I'm 4feet eleven and they're ALWAYS after me! I like HEIGHT... like Cameron's! He's so fine but not the best dancer by a long shot.

:lmao: Will someone tell Richard Simmons to GO AWAY????

For anyone who missed the Osmond's on Oprah, I read that they will be on Larry King Live on Wed. night.

:rotfl: You totally cracked me up when I read this! Off-topic but I'm short too, five feet nuttin and naturally attracted the little guys. And I've always worn heels so I've towered over them. I like'em tall. My DH is almost 6 feet. :cloud9:

:lmao: My first thought was "Is Richard Simmons still alive?" My second thought was "Short guys give me the creeps too!" But it's because I'm tall (5' 11") and they usually are face to chest with me. :sad2: Plus, they make me feel freakishly tall.

My DVR missed last nights show yet again! I'll have to catch in online like I did last week then get who got kicked off from you guys. ;)

...She is Morman and they believe that getting married is an eternal thing. Once married, they are supposedly bound together as husband and wife for all eternity. I also believe that getting a divorce will result in ex-communication from the church and family members.
...

Then Marie must already be excommunicated since she divorced her first husband.

I suspect that Mormans have a divorce-lite "do-over" like Catholics have annulments. I have always had the vibe that religion is very important to Marie and she wouldn't risk being excommunicated.

I may be wrong about the excommunication part. I do seem to remember hearing about it though in the Morman documentary on PBS.
They may have very stringent conditions for divorce. :confused3

Mormons are not excommunicated for being divorced. My husband and I were married in the temple. He is divorced from his first wife. The LDS religion is very pro-family but would not want someone to stay in an unhappy marriage if it was beyond repair. We, like most people, consider divorce a very sad event in someone's life but its certainly not going to be made worse by excommunicating the person.

Thanks, Liz. I know that in the Roman Catholic religion, divorce can pretty much end your relationship with the church unless you go the route of annulment. But I wasn't sure of the Mormon church.

You are welcome! Just wanted to clear up any misconceptions!

Not totally surprised by the first couple saved. I'm betting that Cameron goes home. I was afraid that Gloria E. was going to fall with those shoes she was wearing. ;) Check out the audience when they show Tom Bergeron in the upper part of the audience, I saw this woman in this blue dress right behind them that was really weird.

Well, I for one, am upset. She should have gone home last week or the week before. Now she's in the semi-finals. :sad2:

I also didn't see anything spectacular about the choreography of the person that just danced.
