Dancing With the Stars - Fall 2024

The dazzling night kicks off with an opening number to “Friend Like Me” from “Aladdin,” choreographed by Mandy Moore and featuring a special appearance from Michael James Scott, who stars as Genie in the hit Broadway musical. In an exciting treat, viewers will get a listen at a brand-new song from “Moana 2,” titled “We’re Back,” when it makes the broadcast debut with a routine by the troupe and eliminated pros, choreographed by Britt Stewart. Partner dances will include the Jazz, Rumba, Charleston, Tango, Paso Doble and Samba, plus the fan-favorite team dance competition returns to the ballroom:

Team Goofs – “I2I” from “A Goofy Movie”
Ilona (team captain) and Alan, Joey and Jenna, Chandler and Brandon, and Jenn and Sasha

Team Roar – “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from “The Lion King”
Dwight (team captain) and Daniella, Danny and Witney, Stephen and Rylee, and Phaedra and Val

  • Super Bowl Champion Danny Amendola and pro Witney Carson will perform a Jazz to “Bye Bye Bye” from “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
  • “The Bachelor” Joey Graziadei and pro Jenna Johnson will perform a Samba to “Trashin’ the Camp” from “Tarzan.”
  • NBA Champion Dwight Howard and pro Daniella Karagach will perform a Tango to “When Can I See You Again?” from “Wreck It Ralph.”
  • TV star Chandler Kinney and pro Brandon Armstrong will perform a Paso Doble to “We Own the Night” from “ZOMBIES 2.”
  • Olympian rugby player Ilona Maher and pro Alan Bersten will perform a Jazz to “Surface Pressure” from “Encanto.”
  • Olympian gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik and pro Rylee Arnold will perform a Charleston to “A Star Is Born” from “Hercules.”
  • Reality royalty Phaedra Parks and pro Val Chmerkovskiy will perform a Jazz to “Cruella de Vil” from “101 Dalmatians.”
  • “The Bachelorette” Jenn Tran and pro Sasha Farber will perform a Rumba to “Kiss the Girl” from “The Little Mermaid.”

I am looking forward to Jenn and Sasha doing “Kiss the Girl”. I’m disappointed that they have Ilona dancing to “Surface Pressure” right after they told her to feel pretty to dance prettier. I love the character Louisa, but they will have to work hard to make her costume “pretty”.

I'm finally getting around to watching this week's episode and so many emotions watching this episode

I still haven't seen it. I tried the other night. But then when Bruno stood up and started shouting and spouting off, I just had to turn it off. I didn't even have the tolerance to mute him.

Instead, I was at NY Comic Con this past week having a great time. 🥰

I found my people!

And it only took 41 years, but I FINALLY got to hold Luke Skywalker's improved light saber in Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi. I can't wait to go to Galaxy's Edge some day.

How fun! Are tickets really hard to get? We stopped going to San Diego Comic Con when they switched to the lottery system for badges.

I love Luisa's costume! And the way they've interpreted it looks great - assuming what Ilona's wearing in the dress rehearsal is what she's wearing tonight. (She's posted on Instagram)

Yeah, you have to try to get them as soon as they are announced. NY Comic Con isn't as big as the San Diego Comic Con. I saw a lot of people at the entrances trying to buy someone's badge if they aren't using theirs for the next day.
I usually don't post pictures with faces of people in them, but this pic is so blurry that I don't think individual people will be recognized. This was the outer lobby, a few years ago, and how crowded it gets. That's not even in the show room or the panels.

I love this event. 🥰 Several years, ago, they made the attendees leave all their "weapons" at a security area on the way in.

But, this year, I saw so many people walking around in costume with blasters, light sabers, faux guns, faux swords and shields. Everyone got along. It was very peaceful all around. And there were so many genres represented: movies, comic books, anime. It wasn't just one movie studio there. Everyone respected each others fandoms and passions. The nitty gritty, bloody, horror movie characters weren't making fun of the Hello Kitty people or anything. :grouphug:

At one point, we were walking through the food court area and I saw in one section a whole group of Star Wars people were congregating and chatting. I don't think a blast went out to meet there. It was probably just when some found other SW people, they started talking to each other and more joined in. :chat: 🥰 Of course, I've seen that happen at cons specifically for SW, but not at such a general convention like this.

At one point, we were standing in line to get something and the guy ahead of us didn't realize they wanted to scan our badges first. The guy was digging around in his bags trying to locate it, and I said, "Use the Force!" :lmao:Everyone laughed. How many times do we get such a perfect moment to use a favorite quote?

I've never been a "pin" person. But I was so happy to have been given a pin of my favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation spaceship. 😍

Star Trek pins.jpg

I did see a huge booth for Disney pins. Hallmark had an booth for their collectable ornaments. :thumbsup2 Marvel had a huge booth and a costume competition. Pokemon had an area to build your own Pokemon model! 🥰 Ebay was there doing some live auctions for collectible stuffs, where one could pick up their item right after the auctions ended.

And if I wanted, I could custom build my own light saber for several hundred dollars. :darth: Apparently, some are strong enough to be "battle capable" for lightly cosplaying with another who also has a battle capable light saber. These aren't ones with cheap plastic tubes that kids play with. These look like the ones used in the SW movies. Forty years ago, I would have saved up to buy one. But, everything was CGI back then.

Anyway, thanks for indulging my 2 post trip report, (whether people wanted to read it or not! :lmao:)

We'll be back on topic when DWTS starts tonight.

They needed to mic the Aladdin better. :(

I was just thinking, Alfonso has come almost full circle. He started out on Broadway as the original Tap Dance Kid. (I remember seeing him in it.) Now, he's dancing again with another Broadway star. 🥰

The Aladdin opening reminded me of the Aladdin production in the Hyperion theater in California Adventure. This was pre-Broadway. It was so sad when hey replaced it with Frozen.

Mandy Moore is an incredible choreographer..
