Dancing With the Stars: Fall 2016

Always love to see the first photos. My goodness, Marilu has some long legs. My husband remembers her fondly from Taxi!

I feel really bad for my favorites Artem, Emma, and Sasha. Love all the pros but have a soft spot for those three.

The one that really has her hands full might be Jenna. Didn't Jake get fired from his last show? He doesn't even mention it.

Keep those eyes up, Maks!

lol.. maybe Maks is getting a little" fair is fair " from Peta's handsome partner Nyle last season ;)

I see Marilu Henner has a huge background in dance.
I was surprised to see him with a more mature woman and now I know why.
I should have known Derek always seems to get the best of the lot.
I would have loved to see him paired with Tara. His choreography is so good it would be interesting to see what he could do with her.

Very excited for Maureen and Vanilla Ice! Also, excited to see Laurie!

I'll miss Bindi but my heart will go on! ;)

I used to feel that way too, but he has been given some real challenging dancers in his last few seasons on the show ... Amber Riley (obese), Bethany Mota (average girl with no dance experience), Amy Purdy (no feet!), Bindi Irwin (tomboy teen) and he made them shine.

Yep, and dance background or not Marilu Henner is 64 years old. I'm pretty sure the oldest winners thus far have been 50 (Donny Osmond and Jennifer Grey) and the show made a big deal of how tough it was for them to hang with the younger contestants. I certainly wouldn't consider a 64 year old a contender for the win on this show, dance experience or not. JMHO.

Catsmom, I agree. Marilu looks to be in really good shape but 60+ year old bodies cannot take the beating that younger ones can. And this show really beats people up. I danced constantly in my 20s and 30s and had a terrible time with my feet even then. Makes them hurt to think about it and I haven't danced like that in years.

Oh, and I was thinking this is not the first time we have had "seasoned" former professional dancers. Anyone remember Jane Seymour? She was a former Kirov ballerina and was 56 when she was on the show. Lea Thompson danced with ABT and was 53 on the show. Both finished somewhere in the middle of the pack.

The other thing about Marilu Henner is she has a REAL photographic memory. She never forgets anything. Nothing. She can tell you what she had for lunch on May 23, 1987. Really. It's a bizarre gift that only a handful of people have, and she's one of them. There was a 60 minutes (or maybe a dateline?) about this maybe 10 years ago, and she was one of the people featured. Apparently, memorizing scripts was insanely easy for her. I wonder how this will translate to remembering choreography? It will be interesting to see if they mention this. It doesn't mean she can execute the choreography, but she won't forget what it is.

ETA: Here's a story which includes her (among others). Personally, I would not want this "gift."

I saw that story years back....I found it amazing

Jennifer Grey won with Derek when she was 50- she was also dancing with a bad back injury. Not sure how Marilu will do, but if she is in good shape, stays healthy, and has kept up with her dance training, she could go very far. Plus, Derek is very popular, so even if she isn't so great, they will get to at least the top 6, if not to the finals.
