SadieDog we just got back from FL about an hour ago. We went to be with my sister while my brother in law had surgery. Thankfully everything went well for him. It was hard though being only 30 miles from Disney. We had actually thought about going to Epcot today but we really needed to get back home.

That was nice you were able to be with them. I'm sure it was appreciated.

Thankfully the hot water was fixed. Too bad it had to suck up $170 of my FL $.

I was able to get my 1st smart phone today due to having a ton of unused points. Got to love a free smart phone. Now I need to figure it out. I already found myself swearing at it in the store. My daughter should be able to help me. I'm hoping to figure it out and check on here and fb while in my travels.

I know this sounds dull and oh-so-not-fun, but trust me on this: get your hands on the user manual (you can probably find it to download online if nothing else) and go through it. I did that with mine -- gave myself a basic overview, then sat at the computer with phone in hand and just started going over features, one chapter at a time. It's SO much more phone than my old one, I would have pulled my hair out trying to just mess with it!! (and really, a smartphone is just a little computer that happens to function as a phone).

I really need a trip to Disney!



I just don't see it in the near future... I suppose having 4 kids was a trade off for disposable income... all my vacation fund is going to my DD who is going to Germany, and to Colorado to do some swim training at the Olympics training center... pretty cool. my other DD is supposed to do a daddy daughter trip...but no family vacations... I have come to the realization that we probably will never take another family vacation again.. not all 6 of us... everyone is so busy doing their own things Swimming and volley ball tournaments, there's never a free season anymore.. I guess I have to accept that. BUT... i can still dream and I'd like to take the boys to Disney before they get too old for hanging with mom.

Next month is when we are getting our German student to come and live with us... I am a little nervous about it, I want to make it fun for her, but I don't really know what to do... the weather is going to be let down... March / April is not exactly beach weather, so we're going to have to pick some other things to do. Suggestions???? I don't know what I was thinking when I agreed to this.. Everyone is telling me it's going to be so cool, and we are going to enjoy it just as much as they do... but I hope she's ready for the chaos. culture shock in so many ways... she's an only child, and doesn't have any pets... we have 4 kids... 2 dogs and a bunch of other critters...
At least she speaks english... another family who is hosting said... just the simple things like taking them to a grocery store, and to a mall, will be exciting for them. I hope so.. I don't want to disappoint.

I am in the same boat. And the only reason I get to go in May is because of the generosity of one of my best friends. She's covering 90% of my cost to go. I too wonder about future family trips. I know it won't be the 5 of us anymore. DS17 turns 18 this fall, and is already off in so many of his own directions. I know I have time to go with the other two (currently 12 and 14), but I just don't know when. It's so expensive (although with only 4 of us we could just do a Value for a change). Meanwhile, we have this board to keep the flame alive! (and check out YouTube for Disney related stuff! I've got a whole playlist of just BGM tracks and a few ride-through's! It's like being there when you really need a dose of pixie dust).
