LegoMom, do you still plan on going out to eat soon or did you give up?

I need to go collect the ferrets. I have 4 here...somewhere. My daughter brought her 2 here to visit Sat. and they are still here. One is in my lap, but not sure what the others are doing.

Probably looking for tampons.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

We will try to get out to eat this weekend. Can't go during the week cuz DH works nights.

...Dega needs a blood test this week so I can refill her prescription so the vet will be taking most of my $ this week. I have 2 animals on meds for the rest of their lives. I am at the vet often for 1 reason or another.

.....tell me about it.....my furbaby has been on insulin since last February (2 shots a day) along with 2 thyroid pills every day, for the rest of her life....I'm not gonna even get into her blindness...

If you'd been reading MY posts, you'd know. :snooty: ....

So I may be on the cusp ( <-- I just love that word...) of smart-phone ownership. Verizon is offering a deal right now for me to upgrade early and it'll only add $10 to my monthly bill. DS17 is going off the plan when his ends in May or June, and that will be a significant savings right there. I feel like it's a no-brainer opportunity. And, I admit, I'm a gadget nerd. My DH could disconnect from technology and live in the woods and not bat an eye about it. Me, not so much.

Now I'm trying to determine which phone to get. I know the iPhone is all the rage but I'm just not sure. Whatever I get will be last year's model (not the most current; can't afford it!!). But still, it's an upgrade.

Any opinions one way or the other in terms of the phone??

The i-phone was the rage up to about 2 years ago. There's a trend of people moving away from the i-phone and heading towards the Samsung galaxy. About half the people that I know that have moved to Samsung LOVE it. The other half are waiting for their contract to end so that they can run back to the Fruit company. I'm in the camp of loving the Fruit company; no sitting on the fence or being on the cusp (love the word too) here.

But the Samsung Galaxy phones look very sexy and their operating system; on the face of it...looks really easy to navigate. The screens are also larger.
The common complaint that most of the ex-Apple users that want to run back have is that the OS does crash a little. And it just doesn't run the way they are used to on the i-phones.

Which handsets are you looking at?

I am in the iPhone love camp. I have had one since the first model came out and have never considered getting a different smart phone. I love the ease of use, the many functions (alarm, calendar, phone, computer, games, camera, social networks, email, maps, gps, ebooks, music, run tracker, coupons, pay for my Starbucks) and it ties to my iTunes account which is linked to my iPad and the other family iPhones (DH and Dd14 have them). But as a tech person, you should upgrade to some sort of smart phone. You would get a lot of use out of it.

The threat of taking it away keeps my teen in line and the games keep my youngest busy when we go out. But the rest, not directly. It can find me a maid that does windows, pay for my coffee, pay my garbage bill, or find me a restaurant with biscuits. And Siri keeps me company.

Yes. Thank goodness.

You're not allowed to watch the weather channel? Have you considered asking your mother to relax the child lock on your TV?

And according to our weather channel, we aren't supposed to call it a POLAR VORTEX anymore? It's a deep cold weather event.

It would probably be between the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy 4. With the renewed 2-yr. contract, I can actually get the iPhone for $.99! I think the Samsung would be $49.99 (I can get the Galaxy 3 for the $.99 deal but I haven't seen as good reviews on it).

It seems like every phone manufacturer now has a smart-phone out there, but those two are the most popular, I think. I've always used LG phones for my regular phones, and they do have some "smart" models, but I know very little about them.

Right??!! Seriously, weather people..... let's just call a cold air mass what it is and stop trying to make it something fancy.

My biggest concern with anything Apple is the proprietary nature of their stuff. I don't currently use iTunes and would hate to be tied only to that. My coworker says she hasn't experienced that, so I'm hoping that would be the case. I have heard nothing but rave reviews on the camera, though!

What's a snow day? We get hurricane days down here but not lately.

Someone was saying just today that this year is supposed to be "very active." I don't where that info came from, but I hope for your sakes it is not!

The iPhone 4 or 4S? The 4S has a better camera. If you can get it on a 2-year recontract for $0.99, that's a pretty good deal....assuming that you're happy with the plan you have to recontract to.

I haven't felt tied to iTunes at all. It's actually great to be able to sync everything in the one spot.

That Galaxy 4 turned heads when it came out and a few iPhone users jumped ship. That's the one that half of them that jumped want to go back to Apple.
