I was talking to a co-worker today, telling her that I was rescheduling my trip to Disney for February. She started telling me that UDA Dance/Cheer competitions are in February and Disney would be SUPER crowded!!!! What do you all think??
Anyone have any experience with this??? Thanks!!! :goodvibes

I've been to Disney twice in early February. It wasn't that crowded either time. The only time we noticed the girls was when we stayed at ASMo on one of the trips. Even then, they didn't bother us since we were only at the resort to sleep. The other time we stayed at POR and we didn't see them there. Go and have fun!

My daughter dances and we always attend the UDA Nationals in February. It is not crowded at all. This years dates are Feb. 2-4, however people come in as early as the 31st and will stay through the 6th. The participants are completely busy with dance practice and competitions on Fri/Sat/Sun, making the Monday after the busiest day there for them. On Saturday MGM is crowded because they hold some of the competition on the Indiana Jones stage.
We absolutely love going that time of year because it is so not crowded and the weather is great! The only thing that makes it seem even slightly busy is the fact that Disney doesn't have a full staff working. We have never waited over 20 minutes for ANY ride during that time. Usually it is at most 10 minutes!
So, come enjoy...listen to a LOT of girls giggle!! :teeth:

oh please reschedule your trip, unless you can put up with the cheerleaders and their loud, obnoxious, and sometimes very rude attitudes. i was a cp at splash mountain this past jaunary-may and was right in the middle of the cheering events. i'm not saying they are all like this, but the vast majority that i encountered were the air-headed types that had no idea where they were going. even on my days off when i'd go and play in the parks they were very rude. plus, if you have young children, shield your eyes. some of them dress in next to nothing. also, to a poster who said they were "busy" on friday, saturday and sunday ... some coaches let their teams loose in the parks. i encountered this on a friday off while i was at epcot. they insisted that they push their way to the front of the fastpass line at soarin', which is a big no-no since the lines are crazy there. cm's were very upset with them, even though they had to keep the disney attitude up. their excuse was that they had to get back to their hotel and just had to go on right now. the cm let the group on and the cm then got lots and lots of angry guest complaints.

basically, i got a very bad taste in my mouth from the cheerleaders. and here's the kicker - i was a cheerleader AND a coach for 8 years! ha!

I'm so confused!!!! The cheering and stuff I can deal with......that does not bother me! But the pushing to the front of the line!!! :furious:
Oh well, I'm sure there is no perfect time to go right? Anyone else want to weigh in???

I'll weigh in. We're two adults and while we have encountered the cheerleading groups and other teenage groups, we have a solution to the "problem". We just step aside and let them go by. It only takes a few minutes, they are gone and your blood pressure is restored. We were at the All Stars when the cheerleaders were and they were loud, I'll give you that. But they were practicing their cheers for the competition. Sometimes they might start later at night but they were done by 11:00.

Yes, they are typical teenagers but you'll get those no matter when you go. As far as shoving to the head of the line, I've had that from all types of people. Stick with your original plans and if you do come across a large group of teenagers, just let them go on by.

And from my experience, the chaparones are worse than the teenagers.

In 2004 we went to WDW in conjunction with my step-daughters cheering at Nationals. They stayed at All-Stars we were at POR. We rarely saw them, nor did we see hoards of cheerleaders...unless you count comeptition day at WWOS.

The schedule usually is:
Friday...arrival day...go to a park once they are settled
Sat..practice for a few hours...hit a park...SOMETIMES they have a huge party in the evening at MGM and may close the park early to non-cheerleaders
Sunday...competition...if they are with a large group they usually have to stay until ALL the girls from the gym compete...hit the parks after the competition
Monday...go home.

So yes...Friday thru Monday may be crowded, but the days in between are empty.
