Sharks Underwater Grill at Seaworld Orlando October 2005
We encountered a longish wait at the podium to book a table on the morning of our visit. We had tried to book by phone 30 days out but were told AP holders only can book then but this is the only full service restaurant in Seaworld and it was a Saturday and Halloween party night too.
We arrived slightly early for our 3.00pm reservation and were seated in 15 minutes. During which time we occupied ourselves filming the entertaining chef behind the glass. Our server welcomed us to Sharks and we ordered quickly after having already checked the menu outside.
We were seated at a table one row away from the tanks, which made for excellent viewing. However part way through our starters a group of 4 small children were seated at the next table to us whilst the parents took a table some distance away and sat with their backs to their kids and totally ignored them, oblivious to the fact that they even had any children despite the shouts and screams coming from them. ( Much to our and the servers annoyance. This made the experience less relaxing all round after a tiring day, on reflection we should have asked to move tables.
However on to the food.
I chose the Bruschetta topped with the juicest tomatoes and cheese ( I think it was the American version of parmesan, the name escapes me, nice but not quite the same!) This was very tasty and so gorgeous I wanted to eat it all but had to save room for main course!
I followed with the seafood ragout with large prawns and scallops, which was good but slightly over facing as the seafood was served on a mountain of pasta, I manfully tucked in but had to admit defeat halfway through, I must admit that I had OD'd on the wonderful bread and olive oil with herbs and pepper.
D had the prawn and scallop starter ( served cold) good said he though it would have been better as a hot starter.
then the peanut crusted snapper (the servers suggestion) with black bean and peanut sauce, this was very nice too, Dan asked for the peanut sauce to be served on the side thinking it may be a little too much for the fish, this turned out to be a good idea as it was very very sweet. The peanut crust in itself is quite sweet though this is balanced by the black bean sauce, more peanut sauce would have been overwhelming.
All this was accompanied by a good Pinot Grigio. No coffee or dessert for either of us. The bill was $107 inc. tax & tip. The service & food was very good but the experience was cut short shall we say.
