Internet Explorer is, as well as being incompatible with many websites, host to a major security flaw (add that to the list.)

"An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the local user." As far as I understand it, that means there is a real danger that Internet Explorer 7 users (and possibly users of other versions of IE) could be opening the door to cyber criminals to allow them to ransack the contents of your hard drive. In other words, it is a pretty serious situation.

So, yeah. Get Firefox. Or Safari. Or Chome. Or Flock. ANYTHING besides Explorer!

I 2nd this. Firefox is much better, though in my experience if a website requires a particular web browser, it's usually IE. My only complaint about Firefox is its Bookmarks Manager, which is a steaming pile (aka very hard to use).

To each their own. Not a fan of IE and less of a fan of Firefox. It simply does not work with half of the sites I go to. Was a waste to download. It isn't near as secure as it used to be either. I use others in addition to IE but never firefox anymore.

Super. I exclusively use Firefox at home, but can only use IE here at work, supposedly because of some vulnerability that was discovered within FF some years back. One would assume it's since been patched, but this being a bureaucracy and all, they've resisted change since then. :headache:

I don't care about the hole or whatever it is. Unless it is through the fault of my bank, none of my banking will be a problem. Never do that stuff online, to save myself the headaches of whatever problem one might encounter.

I get - gasp - paper statements from the bank. I also get paper bills. Call me Amish, but it works just fine for us.

Half the sites? Interesting. FFox works with probably 99.99% of the sites I've accessed with it.

Glad it works for you. It doesn't for me on many of mine :) Granted they are more obscure sites but it still doesn't work. I have other more secure browsers I enjoy using more than Firefox that's all :)

US TOO!!!

I use IE ALL the time, I'm on it now.
Hey if you want to Hack my Disboards account by all means Have fun.. You will tell by my past posts that any new posts with bad behavior would not be mine.. However, I don't think a hacker or whatever would waste their time on my IE since I don't use it for anything really important.. Well, except Dis ;)

That's cool, it was interesting that Firefox is such a bomb for some users. :)

Me too. Actually the only thing that doesn't work with ff for me is the occasional survey I do through a rewards site. That's it. Everything else is fine!

Hubby uses linux now, specifically Ubuntu, and he's madly in love with it. But my computer is a Mac, so that's secure and fairly impervious out of the box, so he hasn't urged me to cross to the linux side. :)

Oh and the IE for Macs is a sad and pathetic browser, barely loads MSN let alone anything interesting. So I really have no choice. :)

Mac users tend to use Safari.

Like Internet Explorer for Windows, it occasionally doesn't render (different) websites properly. Typically, Firefox is more compatible - it's famous for it.

Interestingly, there are other browsers based on Firefox - personally, I like Flock :)

Firefox has the additional advantage of being available on multiple systems - Windows, Mac, Linux, Be, Sky, etc

LOL, so do I. I went paperless for a short time on the credit cards, but then quickly realized that is something happened to me (the banker & bill payer) that it might be a while before it dawned on DH that bills weren't coming in the mail & bills needed to be paid. Same for anyone else who might be helping him if I suddenly disappeared. I can't see him hoping on the computer to check my email. Know what I mean?

BUT, if paper bills came in the mail, then someone would realize they needed to be paid.

So......its paper bills & statements for us. BUT, I do access everything online & pay online. I can be anywhere & pay the bills or check the accounts. This system is best for us.

As for browsers, I use Firefox & IE7 and AOL. lol Just depends what works better for what I'm doing. For geocaching, I like Firefox because someone wrote a bunch of scripts to change the geocaching webpage to be much more user friendly with added info & links. Huge help.

LOL! I should try Firefox for Geocaching. :teeth: With AOL it takes FOREVER! I could take a nap before my mileage tracking coin comes up! Have been using something else that was zipping through. Will have to see about FF...if it doesn't have issues with Vista that is.
