Does anyone know how VB weathered Jeanne? I know there was some slight damage from the other storms. And Daytona got blasted - lots of beach erosion I hear.

I have been waiting for reports about the resort, but nothing yet.

Let's hope they did not sustain major damage this time.

Don't know about the resort specifically, but some of the worst pictures I've seen have been form Vero. Beachfront houses completely destroyed, beach erosion so far up that it took out part of a state highway. Looks like they got hiit hard this time. I saw these photos on weather.com

My family used to vacation up the road from Vero in Melbourne Beach/Indiatlantic area and some of those news reports have looked pretty devestating. The beach isn't very wide in that part of FL. and those resorts really sit very near the water!:(

Isn't Vero Beach closed from the last hurricane before Jeanne? I read on another board that they closed it for a couple of months.

For VB specific information, there are a LOT of posts on the DVC board with lots of info. Check over there. The resort weathered Frances pretty well, with some water damage and broken windows on the buildings, and some trees down, sand in the pool and lots of beach erosion. A few DVCers have moved to the VB area, and keep tabs on things for us. So come on over to the DVC board and check it out.

the info we received today from our headquarters said that Disney's Vero Beach Resort will be closed until December 31st.

The Vero Beach/Melbourne/Daytona Beach area was in the right front quadrant of Jeanne and received incredible winds and a huge storm surge.

Many of the resorts in that area are planning on re-opening in February, so it seems that there must be a lot of damage.

Let's hope everyone in the area is ok, and that restorations to the resorts, and especially everyone's homes, goes quickly.

This info is exactly what I read on WDWMagic.com. I thought I had read where the resort received signicant damage from the other hurricane first and that it was already going to be closed til December. I hadn't heard anything about the damage Jeanne had done.

"the info we received today from our headquarters said that Disney's Vero Beach Resort will be closed until December 31st."

Information on the vacation club board indicates VB resort to open Oct. 9, per MS. It had just re-opened 9/20 from Frances.

Member services told me today 09/28/04, that Vero was to reopen on Oct. 9

Is it possible that due to the damage, VB will not be fully open so they are limiting their reservations?

Terry,
VB did not actually receive much damage from Frances. They did not even have any broken windows according to DVC management. The main issue was water damage to carpets etc, and the resort had actually just reopened before Jeanne hit :( Hopefully it fared just as well this time, but reports from the area are not very encouraging so far.

I have searched the WDWMAGIC.COM site and I have not found any information on Vero Beach being closed thru 12/31. Please tell me where on the site that this information is posted.
