Dale's Not So Scary trip report 09/07-09/11

Great update! I was beginning to wonder where you all went. I know what you mean about the wind on a cruise ship. It doesn't look like it would be that windy until you are actually there. I like your pictures of things you don't normally get to see like the anchor and the big chain that holds the anchor. Very cool.:thumbsup2

I really enjoyed reading this. I have just started up writing my trip reports again as well and scanned my photos. By the end of the weekend I should have progressed enough to start writing about our cruise on the Wonder.

It's about time you posted Patty:lmao: Now i can finally continue my report. So fans look for my continued report at the Magic Kingdom in a day or two.

I'll even try to get another update tonight!!!! :lovestruc

DAy 7 Magic Kingdom. I know i know, finally:) Well hear we go. Patty subscribes to this great service called Tour Guide Mike's and he said today would be a green day at MK. That means it would be the best day of the week to visit. It was Alien green it was so empty. By 11:30 we had done all the major and some minor rides and attractions. But, i need to digress. In the past for free Disney Dinnig i have gone to the food court and picked up a box of donuts for 2 days of breakfast on the snack plan:banana: . Not this time. What:confused3 ? Dang. I settled for a real breakfast since i was going to have to pay for it. Back to MK. Since in the past we have watched the opening countdown and activities we decided to stand next to the entrance for the rope drop. When it dropped we booked. Right to Piratespirate: . But, alas me matey. It was closed. Broke down:mad: . Aint workin. Some point we thought we would try to reserve lunch at the Crystal resturaunt. We got in. Then got stuffed. In between time we gots lots of pics and autos from the characters in the resturaunt. We even met some fellow bikers. Boy we are a friendly group:thumbsup2 . After lunch we waddled back to Pirates to check on it. Ahoy it was up and floating. So we were also. Eventually we headed back to Pop to prep for dinner at the California Grill. Darn, we gots to take a special elevator up to the resturaunt. They don't let just anybody in. Thank goodness. Just think eating with the common folk:rotfl2: :lmao:We had to leave our shoes on though and no cut off shorts. It was neat having an elevator operator take you up. The food and service were both excellant. They even have a viewing area you go out on to watch the firework show at MK. End of another day. Next up DAY 8 Epcot. My favorite park.

Well once again, I disappoint. I don’t know where the time goes, but I am finally doing another update…

Still on Monday, September 8th Sea Day (still, lol).

This will be an easy (short) update. I finished the last segment with our wonderful champagne brunch at Palo with our friends.

Dale and I had a spa appointment for the Exotic Rasul! If you do not know what this is, just search the cruiseboard and you will find all about this 'exotic' experience. Dale called this the 'erotic rasul' all week.

This what you see when you walk into the room. Very pretty and romantic.

There is a small table with massage oils, lotions, and scrubs that you can use to enhance your experience. There is a shower to your left to rinse off in and a steam room to the right.

2093491130074672119S425x425Q85.jpg

This is the steam room. There are three bench units. Each unit has side showerheads, an overhead showerhead and a water hose. There is a faucet console in the middle. It gets so hot in the steam room that you have to actually leave the cold water running in one of the hoses.

The staff will ‘knock’ on the door when there are 10 minutes left with your time. This alone time was amazing and like nothing we’d ever experienced. This is a definite do again when we go on another Disney Cruise!!!!

Later on that afternoon, we met up with Monica to play some Bingo. Poor Dale, I was the one trying to keep track of all the numbers and must have poked a number that hadn’t been called. I made hubby jump up and yell BINGO and we didn’t really have a bingo. I felt so bad.

After our very relaxing afternoon, we had dinner at the Animator’s Palate.

After dinner, we walked around the ship.

2765690520074672119S600x600Q85.jpg

We then headed to the Walt Disney Theatre to see the Toy Story Show. Once we sat down, oh my goodness, I was so tired, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. So after a few minutes (before the show started) we got up and left. As we walked back towards our room, I noticed one of the tv screens that have info on them. It said the sea was VERY ROUGH with waves 13-20 feet!!!! WOW we didn’t even feet it. When we returned to our room we met this little guy.

We called it a night cause tomorrow is our BIG day!!!!! I did wake up around 3am and the ship was rocking so much I had trouble standing up! I looked outside (it’s pretty dark at 3am, lol) and turned on the tv to see how the waves were since we were really moving. I was actually surprised that they were still rough, but only 8-13 feet high.

Up next Nassau and then our Vow Renewal!!!

DAY 8; Epcot (my favorite). Once again it pays (?) to have a car. We arrive at Epcot get a great parking space and wait for the rope drop. Some of our favorite things to do are Nemo, Test Track, Soarin, and Figment. And of course to get our pictures taken with all the characters at the special picture area. (I don’t know what the area is called). I don’t know if Tour Guide Mike listed this day as a green day, but it was. Once again minimal waiting if any. We did a lot in a little time. Finally it was time to visit the “Worlds”. Every time we go we discover something else we had not done before:confused3 . We needed refueling so we thought we’d try this little Mexican outdoor restaurant in front of, what else, Mexico . The food was really good. I’m not sure why we’ve never tried this place before. Next up Mexico . I like to look around their market area and we like the boat ride. It’s relaxing and refreshing from being out in the sun. Some day we might actually eat at the restaurant inside Mexico . Then we wandered down to China ’s gift shop to buy something for our daughter whom was a competitive gymnast for several years. She always wanted to represent the USA at Bejing. She retired due to back problems. We have never toured China (and did not again) and several other “worlds” (also did not again). We did however visit Norway to buy a troll and get free cologne/perfume samples. A little side note about me and cologne samples; I like to save the men’s samples you get in magazines or the mail and I put them in my car, one at a time of course. They usually last 2 or 3 days and most of the time make your car smell nice. It’s cheaper then buying air fresheners. Plus I smell sexier  (need all the help I can get). Next on to Germany so i could sample a good German dark beer. Finally, I found a place that understood what a dark beer is. How hard is that? The whole vacation whenever I asked for a dark beer (not often) I got a regular beer or Guinness (which is dark but heavy). After visiting a few more worlds we decided it was time to leave. Later we ventured to the Boardwalk to eat at ESPN restaurant. No deal:mad: . They were very busy and had a long line waiting to enter. We almost left without eating at the boardwalk but we found this bar i think it's called the Boardwalk Bar, or something like that. They only had seating at an island facing out the front door unless you wanted to sit outside in the humidity. Hey, we’ll take it. We actually had a filling meal of fast food type meals and enjoyed people watching. Well back to Pop and time to start packing. Tomorrow is go home day. And we still haven’t decided about DVC. Next up DAY 9 AK and home.

Honey,

We ate at Big River Grille and Brewing Works (not Boardwalk bar, lol). And I think I recall you liked the dark beer there also.

September 9th, THE DAY!!!!!

Ok, this is so NOT related to my TR, but we made our first DVC reservation!!!! WOOHOO!!!!! We are going ‘HOME’ in May for my bday!

Ok, sorry for the slight interruption there…. Back to the regularly scheduled show

After a rough night (remember the BIG waves during the night), we had room service delivered with some coffee, juice, pastry, what not, I really don’t remember as I’m not a FOOD person in the morning. I would have been happier with my protein drink. Oh, well, live and learn.

Another beautiful sunrise!

A view of Atlantis as we were getting close to Nassau.

2015129570074672119S500x500Q85.jpg

I loved this little lighthouse. I was so cute and tiny (at least it appeared that way from a distance), but as we got closer, I realized it wasn’t so tiny, lol.

It really wasn’t as small as I thought; it’s a couple stories high.

Our friend Dawn who was watching as we docked in Nassau. Her boys were watching, but I guess they ducked before I got the picture.

Our official Nassau photo!!!

We had heard some not to good things about Nassau, so we had our designated things we wanted to do. There were a few stops that had been planned and then it was back to the ship.

After disembarking, we had to go through the terminal where we were inundated with offers to braid our hair, rent a scooter, take a tour, and what not. It was scary as we hadn't even gotten outside into the REAL world. We kept telling the natives 'No thank you'.

We had to go to the Harley shop to get Dale is his traditional Harley shirt. Then it was off to Hard Rock to get my Dad his birthday present (a Hard Rock shirt).

2064575120074672119S425x425Q85.jpg

We walked by the Parliament buildings and had to take a photo of these two policemen.

It was then time to head back to the ship to have lunch and get ready for our vow renewal.

I did not duck! I might have taken a step back. That is so excited that you are coming "home" in May. When is your birthday?

You didn't duck Dawn, I can see you, But I know your boys were looking over cause I waved to them and then when I took the photo they were gone, lol. We are going May 7-10th!!!! Can't wait. And we are staying at our 'home' AKV. Decided to use our 'free' SSR points to get a two bedroom later in the summer to take the kids back.

I forgot to mention before we went on to Nassau, Rufaro our Wedding Planner called. She said the captain thought the ceremony would need to be held inside. There were excessive winds (don’t recall what she said) but she did say we could wait until 2pm to decide what we were going to do.

We got back to the ship and had to wait FOREVER to board!!! Come on don’t these people realize I AM GETTING MARRIED IN A FEW HOURS!!!! They were letting a ton of late sleepers off the ship (it was probably around 11:30 or so then, maybe earlier). So after waiting patiently, we were finally allowed to board the ship.

We took our purchases to our cabin and then went to Beach Blanket (I think) for lunch. We sat our on the deck and watched as the cleaned the ‘Secret Deck’ for our vow renewal.

We watched the flag whipping in the wind. I actually set my camera to take the quick succession of pics, not sure if this gives you an idea or not.

At this time Dale and I stood there and realized that there was NO way we’d be having our much-anticipated ceremony on Deck 7. I so wanted the pretty white ribbons that I saw on Betsy’s thread. But it was time to be an adult and do what was best. In the end, I am so glad we had our ceremony inside, as it was SO HOT AND HUMID and WINDY. It even rained a little during a ceremony (the deck was wet when we went to take photos).

So we head back to our cabin and Rufaro calls to see if I am in. She is on her way up to take me out to deck 7 to see what I think. I was so happy that they even let me have a say. It was very windy when we went out, so we made the official decision. At that time, Rufaro was going to print revised invites to the few friends we had met on the DIS who were going to share in our special day.

I went up to the SPA for my hair appointment. I’ve never gotten my hair done! I get it cut a few times a year, but I went to school to do hair, so I colored my own hair and permed my own hair for YEARS. Just a few years ago, I stopped coloring it and I love that it’s so healthy now. I am sorry but I do not remember the girl who did my hair but she did a beautiful job. I paid way too much money for a sparkling barrette that I may never wear again, but it looked so nice. Of course all the photos, and I don’t think there is one of the back of my hair. Oh well. Trust me, it looked really pretty. So after my hair was all done up, I headed back to the room and waited for Dale to get ready and leave. I told him to go find somewhere cool to hang out until it was time for our Vow Renewal. Shortly thereafter, my friend Dawn arrived to help me make sure I was all zipped up ok and not falling out anywhere. Lol.

Dale proceeded to the Cadillac Lounge where our ceremony was going to be held. Two other friends we met online were there to share in our very special day. Karen (our other photographer) and Corinna our friend from ‘across the pond’. Karen took some shots with my camera and with hers.

This was how the set up the Lounge (so it didn’t look so much like a lounge).

Our cake table and certificate from Disney Fairy Tale Weddings.

Our Sand Ceremony (before the ceremony).

I asked Rufaro to make sure that Dale’s flower was on right. She is such a sweetheart.

2553359470074672119S500x500Q85.jpg

It was finally time to meet my hubby. He hadn’t seen my gown at all, so I had to stay hidden until it was time. I don’t have any shots of me walking down the aisle (the photographer took plenty, but we could only pick 25, and there were others I liked better). When I got to the front, Dale told me how pretty I looked and then he had to smell my flowers.

During the ceremony…

During our vows, Dale got choked up. I was so touched and couldn’t believe how much he loved me. I know, 25 years I should know this but when your husband is telling you how he’ll love you forever, just melted my heart all over again.

The KISS… (oh look, you can see my hair, lol).

Up next, our sand ceremony, the cake cutting, the toast, our first dance and then LOTS of photos around the ship!!!! (and I promise not to take long).

You guys make me tear up!!! Your wedding ceremony was the most romantic I've ever been to!!! :lovestruc

I agree....the vow renewel was very romantic and Im glad I could be apart of it. Maybe one day I'll get married and then I can get remarried. hehe

Chase's birthday is May 28th and I try to take him to WDW around his special day. I was curious how close your birthday was to his. :)

I'm glad you guys liked the California Grill! SO happy that one of my suggestions was a good one. ;) :)

I miss all you guys. We are looking at the 7 night eastern carribean leaving 10/23/10 for our next cruise. I just have to get the bills paid first. hehe

Dawn, From what I've read you actually have to go on your birthday for the free admission.

I forgot about that perk next year. I'll have to make a point to go on his birthday then. Christopher brought home his first report card today and had one C one B and the rest were A's. He reminded me (I had forgotten) that I told him if he got all C's and above on his report card (He had most D's and F's last year) that I would take him to Disney World. I told him that I would keep my promise but that we would have to wait until I could afford to go. I told him if he could do this all year (four quarters) that we would just go for a week this summer. (God and Money willing). :) I guess your right about me Patricia.....any excuse to go to Disney.
