DAKV planning question...

So we are DAKV members and I've got a planning question. I'm sorta brand new to this. We had access to points for years now, but they where my In-laws points. So we always booked them by talking to the MIL.

I know we need to have a 2-bedroom, for 3 nights the 21-23 Oct 2007 (Bike Century in Gainesville that weekend, then WDW for Not So Scary.) Should we go ahead and book some other resort next week, and call when they open DAKV booking for members to "move" to our home resort? Or should I just wait for DAKV to open to bookings and if I can't get what we need then, book what ever they have.

I'm going to make a guess that this is 2 different contracts w/different home resorts. 1 AKV and 1 not. Depending upon use years, this may be a little tricky.

A) you could book something today with the non-AKV points and try to switch/waitlist when AKV opens (June?) to non-AKV owners. Using non-akv points to book akv.

B) You could book something today with non-AKV points and then book a separate reservation on May 16 (published date to start taking bookings 9/07 or later) using AKV points. In this scenario, you would cancel the first booking.

Since you don't want to lose any points, you need to be careful of the use year(s) on the contracts an the banking deadlines.

Hopefully, someone with more experience than I might have better ideas.

nope just 1 dakv contract. I just want to be sure we can get something that week. so what it boils down to is if I wait till I can make dakv reservations should I still be able to get a 2 bedroom even if it's not at dakv. I'm just worried that I'm going to be totaly out of luck if i wait.

Well, if you call when MS opens on the first day that you can book at AKV then you ought to be able to get your reservation.

However, you could book another resort now (or whenever 7 months opens) as a backup. Some people seem to have been able to make these bookings with MS and others seem to have booked through their guides.
