Taking DGD in June and she has a dairy allergy.
Any good options for goodies for her? She is 3 1/2.

WDW has ice cream options, but I didn't see any listed anywhere on the menus I looked at for DL

Ghiradelli has sorbet, the Disney ice cream places don't have soy or dairy ice cream. There's a fruit bar at the carts, Minute Maid frozen lemonade and Dole Whip is dairy free. Clarabelle's has a mango sorbet bar with chili that you might be able to get plain. They also have some pre-wrapped stuff like cookies and brownies at Jolly Holiday.

Ask about the frozen bananas at the cart, not sure what's in the chocolate or cross contamination. And, I listed the frozen lemonade cups, but I'm not sure I've actually seen them lately.

Thanks for those idea.
If "real" chocolate is used in the cookies, brownies and toppings, can't do that.
But the sorbets will work.
I will bring some cookies with us for her.

They're Enjoy Life. But I would bring some anyway. I know everything made on site is in common pots and surfaces. But there are some pre-packaged things like fruit flavored candy and lollipops with Disney characters in the packing, you could check those labels.

Churros, popcorn, lollipops, Goofy Candy Co. brand bagged candy (gummies, fruit sours, etc), Rice Krispy Treats, sugar cookies, Macarons (Jolly Holiday Bakery), cupcakes...there is a lot she can have!

All CS and TS should now have an allergy menu with safe items listed for all of the top 8 allergens, ask for that. For what it's worth, the allergy menu for Jolly Holiday does not list the allergy friendly cookies and brownies under safe for milk allergy. I don't know if they still have the Enjoy life bagged items, or if those contain dairy. The sugar cookies and the fillings in the macarons are not dairy free. I don't think the Matterhorn macaroon is either. The cupcakes all have buttercream. I'd check on the rice krispies, most of them are dipped in something and some have mix-ins. There are also slushies and frozen apple juice. Maurice's has frozen apple juice with boysenberry swirl and a foam topping. The foam is dairy free, but it's pretty tart.

The OP only mentioned that real chocolate in cookies/brownies would be an issue. So I assumed butter was okay to eat. Macarons (the french kind) don't usually have any dairy except butter in some fillings..the cookie part is egg whites, almonds, and powdered sugar. The Mickey Macaron has raspberries and the cream filling is a buttercream. Same goes for sugar cookies. They have butter but no other dairy.

OP, can your granddaughter have butter?

Rice Krispys should use butter, not sure about the ones there. Churros (at least the ones here) have milk, do do cupcakes

But thanks for the ideas. I will bring a lot of things for her and hopefully get her a couple ice cream like treats....maybe a Dole Whip, but she would have to eat it all. I can't have it and DD doesn't like pineapple

I did a quick google search and I am not sure Dole Whips are dairy free. You should definitely do some research there (which I'm sure you would have anyway).

They do sell dairy free ice cream at the Disney owned ice cream shops. You have to ask for it.

They are dairy free. Newer recipe in the last few years to meet demand.

yes they are definitely dairy free :)

OP, in the stores in the section where they sell bagged and pre-packaged candy there is a section of Vegan (and thus dairy-free) treats. They have chocolate bars! I have also found the "vegan section" in most of the stores in DLR. I got some at Humphrey's across from Soarin in DCA for example. :goodvibes Good luck and have fun!

My dairy allergic son had a Dole Whip and the mango bar at Clarabella's last summer. I am thinking the smoothie place in California Adventure had something safe, but I can't remember for sure. There was one or two safe speciality popcorn they sell in bags in the shops.

Dole whips are NOT dairy free. But it depends on what your actual health issue is. I suspect I'm mostly lactose intolerant plus I have an issue with many preservatives. Dole whips are ok for me. I mean I can't overdose but it's not the instant awfulness that comes with ice cream.

This is because Dole whips have a milk derivative in them- so casein is present which is the milk protein that is the actual problem for many people who are allergic to "milk". So OP probably can't have them if she has a casein allergy, whereas they'd be a "safe" snack for most people who should not have dairy.

They don't contain Sodium Caseinate anymore.

I could swear they recently changed the ingredients and now Dole Whips are dairy-free. I read an article about it somewhere.

All of the Dole flavors are dairy free except for vanilla, which they don't have at DLR anyway. So if you get the swirl at WDW, not dairy free, otherwise, yes, they are.

She should at least have to start elementary school before she has to eat a whole Dole whip. By the way, cotton candy, which is also all over the parks is dairy free.

Yay! I have a cousin who will be glad to know that. Googled it after I saw your comment and it looks like the change was just after our last family trip.
