Dairy free milkshakes?

Hi everyone!

We are off to WDW in 2 weeks, and I have a question.

Restaurants that are well know for their milkshakes (WCC etc), do they readily have non-dairy alternatives of them?

I ask because I'm slightly lactose intolerant (drinking a huge milkshake would ruin my day, but having a slice of cheese, or butter on bread for example wouldn't do me any harm.)

So I don't want to put any kind of special requests on my meals, as it's easy enough for me to avoid the big milkshakes and ice cream sundaes, and I don't want to put the restaurants to trouble making me dairy free everything when I'm ok in moderation.

BUT if it's simple enough for me to say, "can I get a dairy free milkshake, but the one slice of cheese in my burger is fine", then I would be a happy girl.

I'd love to know the answer to this, I'm significantly lactose intolerant. The pills work for cheese, etc, but milkshakes/ice cream, no dice. It would "ruin my day" indeed!

Oooh, look, we'll be there at the same time too! Here's hoping we can have non ruined days, but with milkshakes!

When we were there last week we went to the Sci Fi and there was a family there talking to the chef. He was telling them that he could make their son a non-dairy milkshake. I think all you need to do is tell your server that you have food concerns and they will have the chef come out and talk to you. I actually saw this happen twice this past trip and they seemed to be very nice and accomodating to the people.

Just about every TS restaurant has dairy free ice cream (Tofutti and/or Rice Dream in chocolate and vanilla) and dairy free milk (Silk and/or Pacific Rice). We've had dairy free milk shakes and brownie sundaes made for our daughter at several places.

So glad to hear it!!

I'm also lactose intolerant, and my son still (at 2) has a touch of milk colitis. I'd never give him a brownie sundae with real ice cream! So this is something to look forward to, perhaps!
