Has anyone had any luck getting dairy/casein free pancakes made anywhere. My DS 4 and DS 1 1/2 both love them. The 4 yr old is also diagnosed PDD-NOS, since pancakes are his new food of choice, a whole week with out them may be tough. Though we have 6 weeks before we leave, the pancake fest may be over by then but I figured I would see if I got any positive responses.
Thanks

We had luck at Spoodles with a batch of GFCF pancakes. We asked our server if they had any GFCF options and the cook came over to our table and made my DS4 a batch of GFCF pancakes -- he loved them!

If you ask, most full-service places will have options for you...

They made my son his very own batch of Mickey Waffels at Cape May. Spoodles was also very good with him. We had a great chef make him a special brownie at the Coral Reef two years ago, no luck this past year. So ask, you might be surprised. Mine has a true dairy allergy, is allergic to all tree nuts, and to a bunch of other things too.

Every place we ate would make him a special main course. Dessert was hit or miss, they always had the Rice Dream or Soy based ice cream and they would offer that, but sometimes they would make something special for him.

We've never had to worry about this before because he refused to eat pretty much everything except his familiar foods and french fries, so we normally just brought his own food everywhere, plus we just felt safer doing that my DS has a true dairy allergy also. He ended up having an anaphylactic rxn when he was ten months old to about 4 spoonfuls of yogurt; it was really scary, DH and I did not know what was happening.

Now through a lot of OT and Behavioral intervention he is begining to try new foods and we really want to encourage it. We have gotten numbers to call the chefs before our PS and I emailed someone to send me the ingredient list for the counter service restaurants. DS is also PDD-NOS so I really need to let him know what is available to eat before we get to the restaurant. That's why I was asking about the pancakes; if he sees others with pancakes he's going to want them too.
