I wasn't sure if there was a post I should be asking in this in or not, so if I shouldn't have started this new one I'm sorry in advance.

I've already made my ADRs and just found out from my doctor that I've developed a dairy allergy and now need to avoid dairy to cut down on some of my medical issues. This is a new allergy on top of my allergy to red food dyes, so I emailed the special diets email address I got from the Disney dining website and the response I got back was to add the allergy to my reservations. That's all they said aside from mentioning it at the restaurant if I'm not approached about it and giving me a short list of counter services locations that can accommodate allergies.

Is that all I need to do, just call and have it noted on my reservations? In the past I've been sent paperwork to fill out and send back, but maybe things have changed. Since this allergy is new to me I want to try my best to make sure I don't get sick while in the parks. I already have the other allergy listed on my reservations, but I'll for sure call and add this one.

Any info from people with diary allergies or intolerances would be really helpful.

Yes they have changed the way they deal with allergies, our daughter is allergic to milk, eggs, wheat and soy and now they just want to put a notation on your reservations and mention it when your server comes to the table. They are fantastic everywhere we went and can't wait to go back in September!!

Yes, they have changed their notification procedures. You simply put it on your ADR and they will be able to accommodate you. I'm gluten and dairy free, and I rarely have a problem with food accommodation. This past weekend I went to Liberty Tree Tavern with a reservation I made the night before and was able to get dairy free mashed potatoes and gluten free gravy with hardly any wait! :thumbsup2

Ahh thanks for the replies! I'm going to call in the morning to add it to my reservations.

i belive all you need to do is what ever restaurant your dining with reservations just call the dining number and then let them know what your allergies are. Thats what i did for my mother in the past for her fish allergy.

Hope that helps

Every sit down place they will send the chief out to talk to you before any food is allowed at your table. Some places would not even bring our drinks until we saw the chief. They will ask you questions and are very conservative in what they allow. Our DS5 has a serious peanut allergy but a milder resolving egg allergy that we can and do allow eggs baked and cooked into most things. We have learned for us, not to mention the egg allergy because if we do, they will bring NOTHING to him that might have eggs in it when in reality he is now fine with almost all things except straight eggs, mayonnaise and some dressing.
I suggest being very clear yourself on what all you need to avoid. Is even a trace of a milk product dangerous or just something containing a lot of milk. Cross contamination an issue? I ask because you mentioned an intolerance as well as an allergy. TALK to your doctor. Find out exactly what you need to avoid to keep yourself safe and healthy.

Lactose intolerant here - and yes Disney is beyond fantastic in providing options for those of us needing to avoid certain ingredients!
