Daily wear disposable contacts...does this count as a 'liquid' for carry on baggage?

Ok, so weird question. I wear daily wear disposable contact lenses. Each lens comes in a 'blister pack' with a tiny amount of saline solution in it. I'd rather not carry these in my checked luggage due to the off chance of luggage getting lost. However, do I have to put the strip of contacts lens packs in the clear ziplock bag for liquids or can I just carry them in carry on and/or purse?

Ultimately, it's up to the TSA agent but in general, the TSA is reasonable at accommodating medically necessary liquids. Pull them out of the baggage and pre-explain it to an agent. They may do some additional screening, so I'd suggest you leave a little extra time. Here's a link to more information:

I wear these and have traveled with tons of them in all sorts of bags with zero issue.

But then again, these days they have failed to flag my eye drops (six years running), lip glosses (three years running) and my boyfriend's half empty soda bottles (two trips in a row!)

Op if you are bringing saline I would just put the saline and contacts in a separate medical liquids bag along with any other medicinal liquids you may have.

I usually put mine in the quart Baggie. four 5 packs (my eyes are different) don't take up that much room and just in case I know they are safe in my quart size bag.

ditto quart size bag - if staying for 7 days take enough for 10 days in case one is ripped

They do not have to go in your "311" clear baggie. You should however declare them as medically necessary when you get to the TSA checkpoint. The link posted above will take you to the site where the process is explained.

I put mine in a separate zip lock with a small bottle of saline and an empty case, it counts toward medical necessities not your 3-1-1 allowance. Before I got pre-check I would just take both bags out and put them in the bin to keep things visible and easy for TSA. Done this many many times without issue.
