On previous trips to Disney I decided to write a journal of what we did. I don't normally keep a journal but I'm really glad I did because it has been a fantastic way for the whole family to remember the vacation. :)

We are going back to WDW later this year and was just wondering if anybody else keeps a journal, and if so, what kind of things do you put in it to make the memories magical? :wizard:

Cheers :thumbsup2

Yes, every trip I write a new journal. But it's usually just a notebook, to record my memories in. I put my addresses, phone # and email addresses in the back. I keep a page toward the back for a record of my phone card, also a page with dining ressies on it. I tape a small calender to the inside of the front, and each day I start a new page, recording what we did, what we spent, how much things cost, etc. Once we were having a character breakfast, and Goofy pointed to it. I said "That's my journal. I record everything that happens in it." He picked it up and wrote. Then he had me read it. He had written " Dear Diary, Today Goofy kissed me. It was great." Then he made me stand up, and he put my head in his mouth lol, and gave me a big smooch. :rotfl: :dance3:

I use a notebook and spend the last half-hour of my day recording what we did that day. It's nice to look forward to that time (and to remember it later; I have fond memories of sitting on the balcony at the Dolphin watching the World go to sleep while I wrote) and it's wonderful to read about our trip years later.

I don't record which rides we did, except as they apply to something funny that happened, or some special moment. For me, the fun of it is in recording some goofy comment my son made, the reaction he had when he tasted the Beverly for the first time, his fascination over some small thing....that sort of thing. I guess what I record is 'us', not 'we did Tower of Terror, then Rock 'n Roller Coaster, then.....'.

I also keep a notebook journal and like Cleo record the moments that I most want to remember, rather than a detailed play by play. If some plan didn't work out or we didn't enjoy something, I make sure to note that also, so next time we do something different. I also make home movies so I try to have the kids talk to the camera at the beginning or end of the day prompting them with questions like: what was the best thing that happened today? What are you most looking forward to doing at Epcot? Sometimes their answers are priceless!
