Looking for a calendar. What I'd really like to find is one of the daily flip calendar's (sits on your desk and you turn it a day at a time - reusable) or one of the daily calendar's day by day that you can pull off each day's page.

Here is the hard part.....I'd like to find a blank one were you can write your own message. My DH is deploying and I thought this might be a nice thing to have friends and family write messages on each day (each family member or friend could do a couple of days each). That way each day DH has a little note from someone back home who cares about him.

Anyone ever seen anything like this? I've looked online but haven't been able to find anything.

Thanks!
Cristy

why not make one? Im sure that something like that could be made through publisher or word. Then you could Laminate them so they stay nice for him.

I would just go buy a few packs of index cards and then bring them to Kinkos and have them drill 2 holes at the top (they charge a $1 per hole) then you can bind them with big loose leaf rings. Kids could draw pictures, adults could pick special days of interest to them (anniversary, birthday, etc.) Using index cards would make it easy to pass out to multiple people.

Also, since he is going to be away, maybe you could send it quarterly so the cards would be recent and relevant and it wouldn't be overwhelming to do all at once.

Or buy a 3 hole punch for a couple dollars and punch your own holes.

Well that would be tedious, time consuming and potentially painful on your hands. Index cards are thick so you could only do a few at a time. Also if you hand punch them it is unlikely that all the holes would line up. For $2 I would save myself the time and effort.

Three hole punches are adjustable to what you need. Index cards, are thin, not as thin as paper, but thinner than you think. As long as you adjust the punches on the device to where you need them, and then line the card up correctly each time, it's easy. I'd move the punches near one of the edges of the punch device, so at least you have the end of the punch as a guide to setting the cards up each time.

Still sounds like a PITA and my time is worth more than the $2 it would cost me to have them do it in 30 seconds. Office Depot, Staples and Kinkos all have the big drill punch. I guess if you have nothing better to do than punch paper then go right ahead. ;)

I'd go to an office supply store and buy the kind you originally mentioned.
The desktop one's that you turn over the page day by day, they all have memo space on them that people can write on, and it will be a real calendar with the date on each page. You could also add things like family Birthdays, just so he can remember that person on their day.

Or, you could have everyone write a message on the BACK of each calendar page. It would be fun to send a Far Side or other comic calendar and then have people jot a message on the back side as an extra treat.
