These acts that the tweens and teens are wild about have a pretty limited lifespan, and there's a good chance that whoever's hot this year may be "eh" by the time the concert comes around. It sounds like TS's popularity is dipping now, and who knows who'll be big in 6 months?
I had a niece who really wanted to go to a show last year, and was saving money for tickets. For Christmas I gave her $50, which I put inside a fan magazine and wrapped up. I told her that she could use it towards her ticket fund. Being far more tech savvy than her old aunt, she waited and found two tickets online for just over $100, and she and her bff wound up sitting a few rows in front of a classmate whose dad had spent $900 for two tickets. My niece had the good sense not to mention how much her tickets cost to her classmate. She told me afterwards that the show was worth the price she paid, but that it wasn't worth the 100+ hours of babysitting she would have needed to do to get $900.

This worked to my DD's advantage. Her friend's mom was able to get Justin Bieber tickets for face value from another friend whose DD was no longer had Bieber Fever. My DD and her friend had a GREAT time!

My 15 year old, by then 16 year old will also be at one of the July Hershey shows, it will mean one hotel night and we will probably do the park for the day, but it is still way cheaper then anything I could get locally at the time. I checked a couple of months ago on stubhub, and tickets similar to the area we have them in were going for $300+ each. Crazy.

We're also going to one of the Hershey shows. I actually bought tickets at face value from Ticketmaster a few months after they went on sale. For some reason, that particular show hadn't sold out (it is now).

Concert tour starts this week. I was able to surprise my One D fan with tickets for the show for her birthday this week. We are going to the Raleigh show on the 22nd.

Look forward to hearing how everyone's kids enjoy the show. My daughter is talking about it non stop!

We were in the same situation for the Taylor Swift tickets. I don't know if One Direction has a fan club page, but definitely sign up for it. I have gotten emails for pit tickets at Taylor Swift concerts and had no idea they would even be for sale. I would also wait, since the tickets get cheaper closer to the dates of the concert.

Ahhh I remember those days...when I was a teen dying for Hanson and *NSYNC tickets. I never got to see *NSYNC, but I ended up getting to see Hanson 7 times.

Check the day of or day before the show!
I got on the computer the second the show opened up for Taylor Swift and got mediocre seats (because of scalpers). They held some back and released them last night for tonights show and they were in the first 20 rows. It made me so sad. Exactly what I paid for my dd but for way better seats. All to beat the scalpers. I'm glad she did it though for people who couldn't get anything.
DD has been texting me all night with how wonderful the show was!

but they are in the nosebleed section and want to try to get better seats when it gets closer to the actual concert date? What can I do with the ones I already have if I end up getting better seats? I bought them through TicketMaster if that helps...

My soon-to-be 13 year old daughter is stricken with a severe case of One Direction-itis. Unfortunately, like the big dummy that I am, I was asleep at the wheel when the group's concert tickets (touring this summer) went on sale. Now, the only tickets I can find are from wholesalers at 4-5x actual face value.

I'm in no way asking for any freebies, but just hoping someone on these boards might "know a guy" that can help with reasonably priced tickets. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone can identify with my predicament, it's fellow disboard devotees. Either way, Happy New Year everyone!

Ticket prices for the DC show this Sunday have come down a lot, but I'm still not willing to pay $189/ticket. I keep checking. I was just at the venue this past weekend because my bestie and I went and saw Boyz II Men, 98 degrees and NKOTB to celebrate our 40ths that are coming up this summer. We had SOOOO much fun. I'd forgotten how much fun a concert is. I'm not telling DD in case this doesn't pan out, but I'm hopeful. I'm also watching the Taylor Swift show in September in Charlottesville....
