Dad's dr. having trouble getting flu shot

We had the same problem here in our winter...........none in the country......waiting on shipment........we were fortunate that our doctor had 4 left, but they were so much in demand that the supplies were depleted really fast.

I work for a doctor who treates high risk patients (suppressed immune systems). We were only able to get 1/8 of the supply we needed or wanted. To boot we still don't have them. We were told they'd be here by the middle of next week though.
The biggest thing is that you really need to get it now (last month was better). Traditionally they don't give them out much past the 2nd and 3rd week of Decemeber.
The plus side is also we are generally 1/2 way through flu season already. Usually the number of cases will peak (especially in our area) by the end of this month then start to dwindle after that. So far it hasn't been bad- so hopefully they've put so much emphasis on the "bird flu" which you're not covered from even w/ a flu shot if it starts to mutate easier- that the flu season really won't be that bad. I don't think the media and government are happy unless they're trying to scare the public.

There was an article in the Minneapolis paper today that said they are redistributing the vaccines in our state because some places had left over vaccines and others didn't get enough. Check with your dr again and see if they have some now.
