SO I got the official word on when daddy is coming home from deployment number 3.

Unfortunately his flight gets in at the precise moment my kids are getting out of school, and the airport is 2 hours away!

So do I take them out of school that day or have a friend pick them up and surprise them at home? :confused3

Take them out of school and let them make signs for daddy! :)

I am so happy for your family!!!!! Enjoy every moment!

That's great news! I would definatly pull them out of school for the day.

First off - THANKS to your husband. Also - thanks to you too! Third deployment...WOW.

I would definitely get the kids out about lunch time, and go to the airport. Only way I would deviate off this would be if something important was going on - i.e. today my junior DD took the PSAT test, and today is the only day it is given.

And - your not doing this just for the kids...your doing it for your DH too!

The only reason I'm hesitant to do it is they are going to miss another day about a month and a half later because we have to leave town for a wedding.

I mean they are only in kindergarten and preschool so I know it's not the end of the universe, I just don't want to get into the habit of taking them out of school for everything.

That and he'll be home for 8 weeks before he's gone for another 6 months. He's ALWAYS coming and going.

No brainer. You take them out of school!

Great news for your family :cool1:.

Preschool and Kindergarten? Of course you should take them out to go to the Airport!

Oh my yes, take them out of school. Daddys coming home, doesn't matter if this is frequent, it is still special. :cool1:

I would definitely take my kiddos out of school for that! It should also be an excused absence as your DH is in the military. I would make signs and bring presents and let them make a day of it- they will be excited and so will you! :goodvibes

Tell you hubby thanks for everything he does and thanks to you too, for dealing with everything!!

Please take your kids out and greet your husband!

My dad was a marine and was often off somewhere. They did a good job of hiding where from us kids. We just knew he was overseas and that it was part of the job. It was so special to meet daddy and the others when they came off that plane. It is something I will always remember. My dad lives with me now and will tell you how wonderful it was to come home and be greeted by the WHOLE family. I don't think we ever missed a homecoming. It is something special. Please, no matter how old your kids are, there is nothing more important.

Absolutely!!! And thank you to your husband, you and your children for all your sacrifices.

First off, thanks to your husband, yourself and your children for the great sacrifice. Secondly, Definitely take them out of school to go meet him! Don't worry about pulling them out for this!

thank you for his service to our country, and thank you to YOU and your children for being there for him, so he can do this for US!!!

I tend bar at a canteen in a VFW post, so you know we are behind you 100%!!

I would definitely take the kids out of school. be there at the airport with signs and hugs and all that good stuff!

ps, get in contact with your local VFW post (if you aren't already) they can do SO MUCH to help you!!!
we had a parade and a welcome home party for a local guy coming home.

Wow, great news. I hope that you and the kids have a great time picking him up at the airport. :)

The VFW is awesome. You folks helped us with my grandfather's funeral services and assisted our family when we didn't know what to do for a military burial.

OP, thank you from my family to yours. Enjoy your homecoming.

Thank your husband for serving!!! And yes pull them out and take them along!!! This is a special and wonderful time for your entire family!!!!

I'd take them out in a heartbeat for something like that. Daddy coming home trumps a day in preschool or kindergarten no question.

Congrats!
