Daddy passed away - thank you for your prayers

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts last Friday when my daddy was taking a turn for the worse. He passed away Friday night surrounded by me and DH and my brother and his wife. He is with my mom now In the end it was peaceful and calm.

As some of you know, Daddy moved in with us in December and I've been his full-time caregiver. Everyone on here who said it would be hard but the best thing I ever did was so right. I will never regret the 10 weeks I had with my father. Last Tuesday daddy was in tremendous pain and I said "cancer sucks - everything about it sucks" and he said "not everything, I've gotten to spend all this time with you." I will treasure those words forever. I was Daddy's little girl and he never let me forget that.

I replied to you this morning, but my post disappeared for some reason..

My heart hurt when I read your words. I am so glad that you had the time with your Dad....even in pain he managed to let you know how much you meant to him. I think it was incredible that you got to spend that precious time with him...and that you took full time care of him which is not an easy thing to do. I hope I have your strength when I have to step up......of course I am still praying for a miracle and am always hopeful with my husband's cancer, but I am also a realist... I live my life one day at a time.

Anyway.. hugs to you, I am glad he is at peace and with your Mom.....take care of yourself and come here whenever you feel like chatting, we are here for you. Peace to you too...
