Howard County here--also military family--here's my two cents!

We just got back from the GF, concierge suite, loved it! Yes, even the boys loved it. View of monorail, castle, fireworks--can't be beat. They loved the pools and game room, too.

We thought the CR was such a dump--I can't imagine paying top dollar to be in that ugly, concrete fortress. Ewww!

One more thought--have you considered Shades of Green??? You could save a bundle on that, and then do your big blowout deluxe resort when your husband returns.

I'm going to go way out on a limb and suggest a Disney cruise instead. They have a 4 night sailing that begins on 12/22/05 that would take you right through Christmas. I'm not sure if they have any concierge suites still available, but if you made a reservation, you could certainly be put on the waiting list. I know the cruise does some special holiday things and you won't be up against a huge crowd. Plus, I just think it would be so much easier to keep track of your young men. The kids programs are amazing and the cruise itself is very relaxing.

Might be fun to do something different, especially if you are already planning a WDW trip in May.

Tammi Some very good points, but I don't know if I want to go on a cruise without DH. Somehow that would almost seem too "romantic." We are hoping to do an all-inclusive island trip as a family when he returns. BTW, how was your YC trip?

Just an FYI, CR 14th floor has smaller rooms than any of the other CR rooms. They just have the king bed, or the two queens. They don't have the day bed.

But I hear the service is great! Ofcourse, you could stay on the 12th floor Concierge,and opt for less service but a nicer room.

Our Yacht Club stay was nice. My 2 youngest didn't figure out where we were going until we were actually sitting on the plane. My oldest had some flight delays due to weather, but she finally made it and surprised everyone. I loved the convenience of being within walking distance of the parks, but I really missed waking up and seeing the castle. I wasn't overly impressed with the concierge lounge. I thought the offerings were pretty limited and I didn't like that they closed the doors between the offerings and again at night.

I can understand what your saying about the cruise. They had so many family activities though, it was pretty amazing. We travelled with my cousin, who was with her 2 sons and she said that she felt very comfortable travelling as a single. She liked the fact that if the boys wanted to hang out in the club, she could participate in the wine tasting or grab a quick spa.

I just remember Disney from last year. DH and I went right after the holidays and all the CM's were commenting on how completely nuts it was. They mentioned that the parks had to be closed during the week on a number of occassions. I'm not great with huge crowds, so I can't even imagine navigating through that.
