I wouldnt assume my child was lying to me, but something as serious as that I would definitely look into it and try to find out what happened before I assumed that my child was 100% right..

I am so glad that you are no longer teaching....

If this is how you feel about troubled children, then you clearly should not be working with them.....

i'm also glad i'm not teaching. i'm so happy to be in a profession where i don't have to worry about some teenager ruining my life, my career and my future.

Believe it or not, i actually like children, i still tutor and enjoy helping kids...but only when the parents are truly parents and care about their children and support the schools and teachers and realize that its not always the teachers fault that their child received an "f" or got detention.

I would not classify this child as "troubled", i'd classify her as spoiled by mommy and daddy. a father who feels that his teenager would never lie to them...well, that speaks volumes. She is apparently no angel as she poured coke on someone's head (probably not her fault though...she is, after all, "troubled").
And to be really blunt, i blame the parents for this as well! so ready to just jump on the side of their child, regardless of the evidence and just blame the teacher.

I can only agree with those who have said that the father should be punished, the daughter expelled from the school and the aide compensated. I also think that the radio station which named the father 'Father of the Year' should aplogise publicly to the teachers aide. Their actions were just as reprehensible as that of the child and her father.
