Dad punches teacher for innapropriate behavior!!

PS: I wonder if the assault charges against the Dad are upheld, if this will immediately make him subject to removal from the foster care system???

What an irony if the girl did this to see if he would step forward and believe her and defend her as his daughter, but it ends up that she is immediately removed from this family, and placed in another family or a group home.

SAD story all the way around.

Personally, I think it's time we either reformed or got rid of the foster care system. Kids eventually need a stable home. I know some kids aren't wanted, but there are a lot of people willing to adopt these children. These kids shouldn't have to jump from one home to another while their biological parents are given time to get their act together.

It's too bad an innocent man had to bear the brunt of an obviously attention craving and deceiving teen.

Oh my gosh!! I must be living in a fantasy world because I never in a million years knew that students lie all the time. I certainly don't think they're all little angels but my first reaction to this story was NOT that the girl was lying or that ALL kids lie about this kind of thing. Wow!! I really don't know what else to say.

Just on the news this morning there was a story about a 15 yr old girl who said she was raped by 3 men.. There were drawings of 2 of them out that they showed.. a reward was offered for them, etc.. Come to find out she lied to her parents because she had been out all night and didnt want to get in trouble so she made the whole thing up.. :sad2: Now apparently she is saying that she was sexually assaulted (I think by someone else).. she is saying that someone wanted to have sex with her and she said no and they did it anyway so now she is saying that she was sexually assaulted. :rolleyes2 The sad thing is if its true, does she really think people are going to believe her ? :sad2: :sad2:

Unfortunately it happens all the time.. Kids will lie to get out of a situation that they dont necessarily know how to get out of .. There have been a few times that when my kids have gotten into trouble or whatever that I will find a witness to the situation to give me their side to it.. I dont like to think my kids lie to me, but Im not naive enough to believe they wouldnt ..

When people lie about this sort of thing, it makes it that much harder for those who actually go through it to come forward. Even harder to be believed. Victims have a hard enough time dealing with everything that happens to them, then having to come forward and relive it over and over every time they have to talk about it, plus have the fear that someone wont believe them. Its terrible.

This is sad all around. The girl has problems and needs some help. Often in cases like these the kid is being molested or has been, but cannot tell on the preson who actaully did it, so they point the finger at someone else.

We need to protect kids from being abused AND we need to protect adults who work with kids from having their careers ruined by false accusations. It's a tough balancing act all around.

I wonder saying he was a foster parent was a misprint. With his record there is no way he could become a foster parent. I think they meant stepdad but rushed the story and made a mistake.

..and then our genius Gov. Jeb wonders why there aren't enough teachers!! I was a teacher...for all of two years....and yes, i had to put up with almost naked teenage girls flirting with me and other teachers, low pay, horrible benefits, long hours, and parents ready to blame me for their little "darlings" being completely hormonal, lying little monsters.

I would love to teach again, but probably never will (or at least not teenagers) until parents start to take more action and start supporting the teachers rather than punching them in the face at the first little whining of their kids. That and when I win the lottery because i can't afford to teach!

This kind of thing makes me so mad i say rather than expel the girl, she ought to be shot, the father hung, and the aide given a raise.

I am so glad that you are no longer teaching....

If this is how you feel about troubled children, then you clearly should not be working with them.....

I think the comment was in jest.

While I acknowledge that the this poster is not saying literally to shoot this girl...

No, that comment was not funny.
It was not a joke.
He meant it in the tone that it was written.

I could never imagine those words with a 'LOL!!!" or a happy jumping smiley face along with them.

The accused man might be a true pervert. But I've also known of quite a few situations where students flat out lied about school employees. Most people believe their kids don't lie to them, but it is not always true. The dad was understandably very emotional and let it get to him. But he did something illegal on school property, so I wouldn't call him a hero.
I have to agree. Attacking the aid without some proof that something actually happened sends a bad message to the child (and everyone else involved).

As for kids lying . . . well, I have really great kids, and I occasionally catch them in a lie. It happens. Dad's really naive if he thinks his kids NEVER lie to him.

Not, I repeat NOT, saying this is the situation here. But one of my biggest fears for dh (a hs public school teacher) is that a girl will make something like this up. It happens. I KNOW it happens...I just advise DH to NEVER NEVER be alone in his room with a student, esp a female student, and esp with the door shut.
I'm a female high school teacher, but we all have to be VERY CAREFUL about this type of thing. Anytime a student stays after school, I purposefully choose seats near the open clasroom door. I also keep a calendar in which students must sign in and out if they're in my room after school; if necessary, I could say who was where when. (I've never been accused of anything inappropriate, but I have had parents ask about so-and-so having stayed after for extra help last Monday, and I've been able to pull out my calendar and say, "No, she wasn't here.")

Of course, a student who's going to make an unfair accusation could still do it. All it takes is one lie.

She did make it up. :) She should be expelled and have charges brought against her.

I realize that she made it up (which I didn't know when I first posted), but I stand by my original statement that it is disturbing how many people automatically jumped to that conclusion. I'm sorry, but if one of my nieces came to me with a similar story, I would never assume she was "telling stories".

Sad but true. There was a case here in Georgia last summer where two teens(boy & girl) accused a teacher of making them have sex in front of him. Of course, he was removed from the school and a long investigation took place. He maintained his innocence throughout. It went to trial. The kids didn't back down until the bitter end, when they finally admitted that THEY WERE MAD AT THE TEACHER.
Okay, let's visit the court of common sense . . . one adult and two teens (who are probably the same size as the adult, and who are probably in better physical shape) . . . short of having a gun (which would be easy to prove -- it'd either be in his posession, or it wouldn't), how could he FORCE them to have sex? Two teens couldn't overpower the teacher? Two teens couldn't run? I assume they were in the school building -- there weren't other people around who would hear them call for help? It just doesn't sound possible.

Did the teens receive some type of legal punishment for dragging the man's name through the mud?

Of course you wouldn't. I wouldn't either. I'm sure no one here would ever assume something like that about their child. But I'm pretty sure that they would allow the "perpertrator" to be allowed a fair trial and punishment (if convicted) rather than carrying out the "punishment" themselves.

I don't remember what their punishment was, but it totally ruined the teacher in his community. I think the DA was suspicious all along(for all the reasons you mentioned). The kids's stories didn't quite jib. But that didn't keep a lot of tongues from wagging. I felt sorry for his poor wife. :sad2:

Interesting details from the article:

They say she was in detention because she poured coke from a second story window on another student.
Definitely gives some insight into her character.

The person who saw her do it was the teacher's aide that was punched. That's why she was sent to detention.
An aide in HIGH SCHOOL? The only aides we have at my high school are for the self-contained special education classes. Perhaps this girl is low-functioning and thought she could get away with such a lie.

The girls face possible expulsion from school.
POSSIBLE?

Bradenton, Florida -- An angry father who punched a teacher's assistant in the face says he was protecting his 15-year-old daughter who had accused the man of inappropriately touching her.
No, he wasn't PROTECTING her. He was trying to get REVENGE. Big difference.

Yep. As I said in a previous post, I have really good kids, but I know that as a teen I sometimes lied when I was backed into a corner. I know they will do the same thing. Anytime you say, "My kid would never ______ because ______", it's time to take a step back and re-examine things.

I trust my kids, but a good parent is realistic.

Of course you wouldn't, neither would I if it were my daughter. I think the difference however is, we'd try to get to the heart of the matter visa vie the proper channels. I doubt you or I would start tossing fists at the aide.

Very true. Like I said before, the father was completely in the wrong.
