I agree that this little girl deserves a MAW trip to Disney.
Could the father be misinformed what MAW is and does for sick children? I only say this because when my DD was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma as an infant, her oncologist asked us if it would be okay to contact MAW on her behalf. We were a little reluctant because (at the time) we thought MAW was for terminal kids or really sick kids. At that time, we were just so thankful that our DD just needed surgery, and a year of physical therapy (nerve damage). If you have ever spent any time on a pediatric cancer floor, you become painfully aware of how some kids are suffering... We felt we were the lucky ones!!! We felt that we would be taking from another child who really needed it.
It wasn't until my DD's doctor explained that it was for all children who go through a serious/ long illness as something to bring happiness to the child between treatment, dr appt, illness, etc. it was not just for for the terminally ill.
Anyway, we went ahead and gave the okay to proceed. But ironically my DD didn't qualify because she was too young at the time. (under a year old) By the time she was of age, she was thankfully too healthy!!!
We went on to take her to her first (of many) trips to WDW when she was 16 months old.... And she has been to WDW once a year since then for the past 8 years.
I really hope this father is just misinformed and not being a complete selfish jerk. It does sound like there is more motive though...sadly.
