My 80 year old father was in a car accident Sunday afternoon. Another vehicle crossed the center line and side swiped my dad's car. Dad always drives with his arm hanging out of the window for all long as I remember. I have driven this way myself. His arm was severed above the elbow. Please, if you drive this way or let your passengers ride with limbs out window, STOP. He would have walked away with a few stitches in his lip, a slight neck fracture, and minor cuts on his forehead if his arm had been inside the vehicle. The person driving directly behind him is studying to be a paramedic and happened to have a tourniquet on his belt. He applied the tourniquet which stopped my dad from bleeding out at the scene. My dad was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, Maryland, where they have the best surgeons possible. Although the person at the scene managed to rescue his arm and get it on ice his arm couldn't be reattached. Please keep him in prayer as he still has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
