Moderator, if you need to move this, please do so. I don't really know where it belongs.

I am interested in joining D23 with the DVC discount. However can anyone tell me if the membership year runs Jan 1 to Dec 31? I'm thinking if so, perhaps I should wait so I don't have to renew in a couple of months?

Also, I'm wondering if the quarterly magazine is worth the extra $40 per year?
Which seems to be the difference between Gold & Silver membership.

Thanks,

Thanks,

D23 membership runs for 1 year from the month of purchase. The magazine is nice and is the only difference between the two levels. If you purchased them individually from disneystore.com, they are $15 per issue.

thanks michael. do you know if i will get the fall issue if i join now? i know it came out in august...

You will get 4 issues for the year with the gold membership. Until the next issue is released (Nov?), they would probably send out the prior issue as part of the membership.

Thanks again. Do you like the membership? I think I'm going to give it a try.

I just renewed my D23 gold about 2 weeks ago. Got the current issue (WDW 40th cover story) in the mail about a week later. Also received a the archives collection patch for the quarter and a hardcover journal book. I believe the journal was this year's renewal gift.

Like Michael said, membership runs for 12 consecutive months. If you buy now, your membership should expire in October 2012.

I bought the fall issue at D23 in August (I was the guest of a D23 member). It was $15 or $16 but I though it was well worth it, it kept me busy in line waiting for the Carsland session for about 2 hours and I still didn't finish it. I plan to join in November because I don't want them to send me the fall issue that I already got. For a new membership, you get a watch.

One of the main reasons I've keep my membership is we live in the Orlando area and can take part in the few events D23 schedules at WDW. We're doing the Sip & Stroll next weekend and hoping to get tickets for one of the Magic & Merriment events in December.

I agree with Michael above. We live in South Florida and that is the main reason we keep our membership, for the events. We did Sip & Stroll last year and also Magic & Merriment. A large number of the special events are in WDW or in/near DL. If you attend the every other year D23 Expo in California, like we have the ability to enter an hour befor non members is a huge plus. The lines this year were absolutely insane.

May I ask, how much is the renewal for gold membership?

It's the same as the regular subscription rate. I think $75 per year. DVC members can get a discount off of first-time memberships but that discount doesn't apply to renewals.

I'm a charter first day member and love it. Some people feel it isn't worth it since most events are in California or Florida, but really..that's what I would expect. The magazine is beautiful..more like a book then a magazine. I've been to both Expos and Destination D Disneyland and naturally wish I could go to more events, but I'll be a member as long as there's a D23 :)
PS I got the watch but never the journal. I'm still using the calender that was the renewal gift the year before..time to look for a decent Disney calender. the DLR one was just mehh
