D23 Gold Family membership?

We reluctantly upgraded to Gold Family level when it was forced on us (um, "introduced"). I can't recall any benefit that I (as the secondary) get from it other than paying a bigger fee.

If I recall correctly, the pressure that triggered our upgrade was to remain "a couple" while attending D23 Expo events and areas. If we didn't upgrade, only my spouse was treated as Gold and I was left out in the hallway. I was so angry at that Expo. (Still holding a grudge.)

Do you live in FL (near WDW) or Southern California? The majority of the in-person events that are available - for free or for a fee - are at WDW or DLR (although some in So Cal also occur at Disney Studios in Burbank and/or Glendale). If so, it may be worth it to be gold.

Otherwise, a free (general) membership is good enough.

Thank you! We live in western NY, so I think we'll stick with our general membership.

There are some events in other locations, like free movie tickets, etc., but I don't know that it would be worth the $100+ for the paid membership.

I did the Gold individual for the pins and magazines we were Founders members but let it expire. Now that life is a bit more flexible, thought we would check it out again.
