So what movies does everyone think will be represented at the panels? I'm trying to figure out which panels are going to be my must sees.

Do they ever reference/have stars from a movie that was just released? Or are future movies only represented?

I'm looking at the Disney movie release schedule and this is how it is looking...

ANIMATED

June 16: Cars 3
November 22: Coco (I'm assuming this one will be heavily represented)
2018
March 9: Wreck It Ralph 2 (it will be too early for a teaser trailer, or will it?)
June 15: Incredibles 2
November 21: Gigantic
2019
June 21: Toy Story 4

LIVE ACTION

May 26: Pirates
July 7: Spiderman
November 3: Thor Ragnarok
December 15: The Last Jedi
2018
February 16: Black Panther
April 6: A Wrinkle in Time
May 4: Avengers Infinity War
May 25: Han Solo
July 6: Ant Man and the Wasp
November 2: Mulan
December 25: Mary Poppins Returns

That is a lot of live action movies coming out over the next year and a half. How many movies do they usually discuss in the panels?

According to Collider MovieTalk, LucasFilm is probably going to announce an ObiWan Kenobi solo film. I'm stoked!!!

I think we may get the Rock for live action but Lin will depend on filming. I believe he is still in London for Mary Poppins 2 and has not made many state side trips except for awards shows. If they are done with filming then I would believe we could see him at live action as well.

I'm excited for the Alan menken concert. That is one of our must dos so far.

Alan Menken is one of my must do's too... imagine him singing "Evermore"... I've got chills!!!

Room is booked, membership is renewed, and tickets are purchased... So excited!

There are great videos of his Storybook Concert at the 2013 Expo with Richard Sherman... These videos have me pumped up to the Nth degree.

I guess it is time to get planning. For those who have been, is it possible to get two of these big panels done in a day, or should I just plan on one and maybe one or two smaller panels? I'm thinking of going to the Legends for sure, because I'm not a big fan of animation anymore. I only see a few Disney animation films in theaters these days. I'm just wondering if it is possible to see the Live Action and the Parks panel? I will plan on going to the parks panel for sure. Is it necessary to line up for the parks panel at 4 a.m. or do they not allow people to line up for the 2nd big panel until after the first panel starts? if it helps, I will be there solo. Do people who are solo have a better chance of getting in to a big panel if it gets close to full than those with other people? Oh the questions that a first timer has lol!

Take everything with a grain of salt because the rules seem to change year to year. With that said it is very possible to do both. Many people did over night for Live Action and were still able to get into Parks and Resort. I'm not sure if Parks and Resorts technically was ever full as they added a massive amount of seats to Hall 23 last year.

I'm wondering this same thing. If I had to pick two panels out of the whole weekend it'd be live action and parks. That sucks.

Try to sit in a aisle towards the back and that will up your chances. You'll be one of the first to exit and thus one of the first to join the parks and resort line.

Must admit I'm super happy to not do lines this year!

To be honest, the only interest I have with going to the live-action would be for a possible Lion King portion and the Star Wars portion. I have more interest in parks and resorts so that might be the panel I just do on that day. The good news, I will have Friday to see how they handle the two panels and ask questions.

Would anyone want to plan a Disboards meet at a Downtown Disney restaurant or Disney resort restaurant on the Friday or Sunday? I'm probably going to go to the Angel game on Saturday since it will be my only chance to see them play at home this year (I grew up in So Cal). I plan on being in the parks Wednesday and Thursday. I just don't know if I will go to the parks on Friday or Sunday after the panels are over.

Live action or Parks on Saturday? It's such a tough choice. How early do you have to line up for the morning panels to be sure to get in?

I absolutely did Live Action AND Parks last time. I stayed to the end of Live Action, too. Then dashed to the Parks line. DO NOT STOP for food, do not pass go, do not collect $200. No bathroom break. Had to join the Parks line outside, and file back inside. THEN, once in the new line, then you can take turns doing food runs and bathroom dashes. (I also bring in crackers for emergencies)

I do remember there was a small line for Parks already in the early morning, before those of us for Live Action went upstairs to be seated.

I admit it was a bit frantic but I am going to try it again this year. Not all the people at Live Action Studios, want to see Parks and Resorts, thankfully.

Looking forward to the small panels, they can be very good, and so interesting. We will hear more about the small ones, even adding new ones just weeks before.

PS , and just MY personal opinion, assuming they allow overnight inside lineups again, I would recommend getting there before 6 am for Live Action. I arrived at about 5:50 last time, and JUST made into the C group, after C, they started an overflow line (most of who DID get in). So that was cutting it close. Too close. Legends is harder to say, because on Day 1, some of crowd is drawn to the shopping and general Expo floor line. So again, if rules are same, I would get there before 7 am, in order to get to the inside line. It is dry, cool/warm in there, bathrooms available. Outside lines are usually ok, but inside you are prescreened, your ticket scanned, so you can just file in at 8:30 or 9, if not waiting for a panel.

I agree. I would get there at 4AM or 5AM on Saturday to make sure you get in for Live Action Presentation. I think that doing both Parks and Live Action certainly is doable at least based on my past experiences. I suppose unless queuing is dramatically different from last year...

Parks is the major priority for me, over Live Action. Should I just skip Live Action to guarantee a spot in Parks?

I put together a short general list for myself of what is important to me as of right now - that could change as more info is leaked.

I know I want to shop - Mickey's of Glendale and Disney store so I'm thinking that will be my Friday priorities as well as the General Expo floor. This day is my birthday so whatever I buy will be birthday presents to me. My kids were surprised I wasn't going to be home on my birthday. My husband wasn't since I'd been talking about wanting to go to this for a year now. LOL

Saturday is Parks and Resorts panel. I'd love to see Live Action too but reality is, I probably won't get up early enough to make it into that particular panel.

Sunday is one of the Alan Menken concerts and if I have time, more General Expo Floor or shopping.

I'm a big fan on Once Upon a Time so if there is a smaller panel for that, I want to try and do that one.

This is my first ever and probably only D23 Expo so I need to make the most of it.
Airline ticket booked, hotel booked, D23 tickets booked. And since I'm going several days before it for some Disneyland park time, I need to get those tickets in advance too.

While the OUAT panel last year was theoretically one of the "smaller" ones, it was by far the most popular of the smaller ones. I think they vastly underestimated its popularity. Getting a good seat to that took up my entire day last year between getting the stage pass and then waiting in line for it. I regret taking so much time for that. Just a heads up. It was an awesome panel, but not worth the effort it took. If I were to do it again, I'd wait for the stage pass and then not worry about how good of a seat I was going to get.

Sounds like you and I will have similar schedules. :)

I'm hoping for another good imagineering panel like the Imagineering 60 Years of Disneyland panel last year.

For those of you that went really early in 2015, where do you guys park? Is Toy Story lot open that early? I chose to sit it out last time because I didn't want to wake up that early.

In 2015 the parks panel was really easy to get into. I was able to get in about an hour IIRC before the panel started, but they were really behind schedule (about an hour i think) so we were all waiting around for a bit. There were also tons of empty seats in the back, so it wasn't full.

This year could be totally different, though.

When we got there at about 5:00am last time we parked in the convention center parking. I don't remember exactly what time it opened but it was early enough that we could park there then. Toy Story opens an hour before park opening I think.
