D23 Expo 2011! Who's attending?

You must have really lucked out..I am finding no rooms available for this hotel during the days I'll be staying..even on the Marriott site...I think this Expo will be much more crowded than the last.

Yeah, i have a bad feeling that its going to be PACKED this time around. Crowds...ughghhgh

Did you check expedia? That is where I got the deal last week.

I did...most of the nights not available, and the ones that were are higher than you got..It's ok..I'm all set, but would have changed if I found Marriott cheaper. Not liking the packed thing, but it will be a boost to D23 if it is, and I hope it is for that sake. Last time I thought they might just give up on the Expos since it was so lightly attended, overall. It was so amazing..I hope they reach that level again.

My guess is that they will keep that many seats available, and communicate by radio as Sorcerer people go to their various destinations, since all 50 people would probably only be in the same place for the Arena presentations at the others they could monitor by entry. I bet they will have bar code scanners. For the 500 Premier passes (we get Arena reserved seating) they will assume that we will come to all of them. What I hope that they account for is that some of us will require handicapped seating.

For those of us that haven't been to this convention center, can somebody give me an idea to what the panel rooms are like in capacity? Most conventions I go to are small(50 people max in the room, rarely fills up). I think the biggest one that I had witnessed was a costume contest being hosted by Bruce Campbell. It was in a theater at a cinema(so again not much space, a couple hundred max), and they turned away quite a bit.

Thanks for any help!

I think the Arena seats 4,000. I didn't go to the 3rd floor room which was next largest. The other two rooms where a lot of panels were held sat 800. I did not do any screenings either. There were a couple other locations, but we were too busy waiting in line for 800 capacity rooms!

Would it be a mistake to miss Sunday? It would be very hard for us to stay on Sunday as we live in NY and would have to take a reasonable flight out. Would it make sense to just go 1/2 day then leave? Or mayve just skip it all together and do the 2 full days before?

From experience was the last day one of the better, presentation wise?

Nevermind, I asked to Dh and he is going to take off on the mon after so we can fly back that day. I hope we can work this out so we can go woohoo!

I'm glad you said this as I would not want to leave early Sunday. Last time the Expo was 4 days instead of three and I had to leave early Sunday and so regret it. I had to leave in the middle of the John Lasetter talk. Not good! Since the Expo is one day shorter this year, I would think that Sunday would be fully jam packed.

I agree, the Lassetter session was REALLY cool and I think that went until noon or 1PM. I was so beat (driving home and back each night) that we had to leave Sunday afternoon, but I really would have loved to have stayed for the TS 1&2 3D preview, even though I got to see it in the theaters. It would have been way cool to see it with D23ers and without paying extra!

Something is really worrying me. I'm the only one who has a D23 membership in our family, my card says Shelton S***** on it (not saying my last name), but when I tried to access the member price online, it worked but it worked with my mom's last name, which is different since she kept her maiden name. It says we have 4 member price tickets available, perfect for our family of four, but will we all need cards? Another thing, will the tickets have my mom's name on it or mine? And will it matter if the card has a different name on it?

My sister and I are going. We are staying at the DL hotel. (DVC Grand Californian was booked for studio)

Soooo excited. I went to DL when I was 18...years and years and years ago... Can't wait to see California Adventure Park.

I don't know..it is super hard to get responses from D23 for anything (my one big complaint) and all their sales are handled through Disney Store, so for name on the card issues you can try there. Your best bet for questions is to ask through their Facebook page or maybe through Jeffery? (look up Disney Geek on the site, and I think they tell you how to ask him questions)

I know not everyone needs a membership, so you personally can buy 4 tickets. But I think everyone's name has to be on the tickets. I am not sure if they check ID or what. I agree with nunzia..post the issue on their facebook page!Good luck!

Is anyone planning on attending the Destination-D st WDW? At first we said "no way", but we ended up getting some great deals and a room at Bay Lake Tower, so now we're going afterall!

It would sure be fun, but no can do..have a great time and report back to us!

We were already booked at BWV when they announced the Destination D WDW and had planned to go. With the price hike to $175 pp, I am having some 2nd thoughts. We really enjoyed Destination D at DL last September, but there seem to be a lot of similarities. But I will probably kick myself if we don't go. What to do? What to do? -- Suzanne

I was thinking that while it was similar we'd learn a lot about WDW. I know a lot about DLR, but the stuff about acquiring the land and building it in secret sounds fascinating. Plus I would love to hear more about Walt's EPCOT vision.

I would LOVE to go, but it's at a very inconvenient time for my family. Please tell us all how it is when you go! I'm jealous.

See you there! :cool1:

Are you doing the Scavenger Hunt too??

No, just the presentations. We were beat after D55 and were really glad we didn't sign up for the hunt. It will be tiring enough flying there and back over a period of six days. I'm so glad we'll be at BLT so we will be able to pop back to the room for meals and a power nap!
