D23 Expo 2011! Who's attending?

The absolute closest hotels are the Hilton and Marriott. Hojo's would be a small hike and I don't know where the Embassy Suites are located.

I checked my download of the *.pdf of the schedule and the date was 9/4, but I believe they released it well before then, but not too much more than a month in advance.

I do hope that they release it sooner this year!

Does anyone have a copy of the 2009 Expo schedule that they could post? I realize that this year might be set up differently but would just like to see how they scheduled the different panels and presentations and such.

Thanks,

Mary

I hope the schedule comes out sooner this year! My family is reluctant to go to all 3 days, so if I have to compromise with 2 days I'd like to know which events are when so I can make sure not to miss anything too important to me!

So for us East Coast fans, would you recommend Embassy Suites Garden Grove, or HoJo. Last time we did Disneyana, I think we stayed at one of the Holiday Inns with a Convention Center.

Ideally, I would choose one of the hotels in the same block as the convention center. We are staying at the Park Sheraton.

If you can only choose between those 2, the Embassey Suites looks like it is on ART #2, which also stops at the Convention Center. You could walk it, but it would probably be about 25+ minutes). HoJo would require either talking 2 ART shuttles with a transfer at DL, walking to DL then catching an Art shuttle to the CC or walking even further all the way to the CC (maybe 30+ minutes?). -- Suzanne

I definately want to go to this expo!! Do you think it is necessary to buy tickets this far in advance? August is so far off.

OK I am getting a better sense of where we have to go. I found rooms at the courtyard Marriott Anaheim 2045 South Harbor Blvd for an average night stay with taxes of $152 per night Senior Rate. Car parking is $10 per night. This seems to be in the Convention Way complex.
The Embassy Suites is an avg of $163 per night but includes breakfast and is further away. I'll keep trying.
Thanks for the tips.

I still recommend Jolly Roger for the Expo. As close as the Hilton and Marriott and the rate is 100 a night. I seconn the statement to plan on staying for the convention from dawn to late at night..really no time to go to the parks during the event. We skipped the showings of the films and regretted it swnce surprises popped up during those as well. My friend and I bought Sorcerer tickets and very curious to see if they honor the strict 50 tickets for that level, and also how it will all work. If we are guaranteed seating at all presentations, does that mean they don't plan more than one presentation to happen at the same time? That doesn't make sense...so...will they want us to pick what we want to see ahead of time and then free up seats for others? very interesting to see how this plays out and I sure hope they do get that schedule up much sooner than last time.

My guess is that they will keep that many seats available, and communicate by radio as Sorcerer people go to their various destinations, since all 50 people would probably only be in the same place for the Arena presentations at the others they could monitor by entry. I bet they will have bar code scanners. For the 500 Premier passes (we get Arena reserved seating) they will assume that we will come to all of them. What I hope that they account for is that some of us will require handicapped seating.

Definitely going to the expo this year!! I am so excited. I wasn't able to go in 2009. It will be my mom, sister, and I going. We are staying at the Wyndam Anaheim. I hope it isn't too far away!!!

DD24 & I are going with some friends from the Diva thread. We are staying at the Candy Cane Inn and going all three days!:)

YAY!!   I just booked our room at the Candy Cane Inn. Of course, I'll keep checking around, but it's so close to the convention center...

We are trying The Anabella. It is right next door to the convention center, across from the parks, has good ratings and a nice Mission style decor. The senior rate is right around $110 per night (+tax & additional car parking fee), but no breakfast. They said they are working on a discount price for D23 Expo attendees, but they haven't finished working it out yet so the price could drop some.

I saw that you are all thinking about reserving rooms. So, I thought I better get on it. I have a premier package and can't wait. I attended the 2009 Expo for only one day and it was fantastic. I got my room for all days yesterday at a rate of $83.00 per night. The hotel offers a continental breakfast, free high speed internet and free parking. I picked this hotel because of the location! I don't think I am allowed to post how I found this rate so if your interested send me a private message and I will let you know. Yesterday it said that this rate would only be available for 72 hours. :tink:

Hello everyone! I am having a bit of trouble with my D23 membership. I would like to ask some questions so I can try to fix this.

My DH :lovestruc got me a D23 membership for Christmas. I had trouble logging onto the ticket page to buy a ticket for the D23 Expo. After contacting Disney store (as recommended on the ticket page), they sent back an e-mail this Monday, saying that my packet should be arriving in about 10 days. I got one packet on Wednesday with a membership card and another yesterday with the newest magazine and the D23 watch. When using the card to purchase a ticket last night, the card is assigned to my husband, but the card name is my name. Yikes! Not a god thing. I have sent an e-mail to try to fix this. I have a few questions for you in hopes that I can buy a ticket for the Expo.

When purchasing a D23 Expo ticket, is your name printed on it?
Do they ever run out of tickets? If so, when?

I am afraid that I will get this resolved too late and not be able to get a ticket and attend this year's Expo. Hope you can help.

Wife and I will be there, staying at VGC!

Last year the tickets did have our names, and we did have to show our cards to get in with the ticket.
The regular admission tickets did not run out last time and I seriously doubt they would this time. I don't think either of the higher levels of tickets lasted much past the first few days they went on sale, so I think they are long gone. But no worries about getting a ticket!

Thank you, nunzia for responding to my questions. I guess I will have to do the back and forth thing with Disney to get this all straighten out.

I realized that the two upper tiers of tickets had long ago sold out. In fact, I wouldn't even had the opportunity to purchase them anyway, so I don't feel like I lost an opportunity. I just want a ticket. What a relief to know that I don't have to worry about that anyway.

I already have a room at the Anaheim Marriot on Convention Way. So that is set.

Just got my hotel reservations at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel through expedia for 89 a night. Not free parking though if i remember right. And the elevators take forver, but at least its across the street :) Hopefully I'll see you guys at D23

You must have really lucked out..I am finding no rooms available for this hotel during the days I'll be staying..even on the Marriott site...I think this Expo will be much more crowded than the last.
