D23 Expo 2011! Who's attending?

D23 reported on their FB page that all Sorcerer and Premiere tickets are sold out.

I could not find this..I did notice the Sorcerer tickets are gone since people have reported being on a wait list, but I haven't seen anything about Premier.

Thanks! I will google them. I guess if I stayed at a DL hotel I would have to take a cab? Might still do it - don't know when I will be back there and that hotel looks so nice!

So I DID NOT have a ticket! Even though I had two e-mails thanking me for my purchase and stating I would get my credentials two months before the event. And yes, the premiere tickets are sold out. So I have to go back online and buy a regular ticket. I e-mailed them and asked them to please correct the website problem. I really hope there is no one else out there who thinks they have a ticket and doesn't! I just happened to e-mail them, because I thought it was really weird that they never asked for my credit card info.

What are the chances the expo will sell out? I'm a little hesitant to fly all the way out there to stand in line for hours for the seminars - that's why I was going to splurge on the premiere ticket. Just wondering if I should wait two years and try this again - maybe it will be in WDW in 2013?!

Wow.what a mess up! I would certainly still go! D23 says they are well aware of the issues from last year and are making adjustments and plans to avoid it happening again. It will be wonderful no matter what level ticket you have! I wouldn't have missed last year for anything..even with all the lines and crappy food, the event was still nothing short of spectacular.
If you really want to try the Grand, go for it. It is walkable, just not super close..certainly walkable without a cab. Did they let you put your name on a wating list for Premier?

My husband told me to go too! I'm always worried they aren't going to do another one, so I feel like I should even with the lines and the CRAPPY FOOD!!!? Oh no, that's a deal breaker!! Just kidding! Oh man - how long do you have to wait in line for the crappy food!!!? :rotfl:

I think I will try the Grand - this may really be my only chance for many years to come! Hey, just saved about $400 on my expo ticket - that's one meal in the nice restaurant in the Grand, right?!

I had put my name on the Sorcerer's waiting list originally (didn't tell my husband about that - can you imagine if I get it? Um, honey, remember that $1000 that was in our bank account? :scared1:) They didn't offer me a waiting list option for Premier.

Alright people - I'll see you in line at the Expo!

Alright people - I'll see you in line at the Expo!

We went to the Expo last year and even the waiting in lines wasn't bad becuase there was often someone interesting standing in line before or behind you.

I think the longest line we waited in was for the presentation on Princess & the Frog (we got in line at least an hour early and the start time was delayed by at least an hour), but I couldn't tell you how long 'cuz the time flew by. Behind us in line was the one of the technical directors on the film who was there to get his first public feedback on the product. Chatting with him made the time fly by.

We are in CA and probably won't finalize our plans until next summer, but right now we plan to see everyone in the line at the Expo. -- Suzanne

That is SO COOL!!! THAT is exactly why I want to go! Absolutely thrilling! I would have waited in line to wait in THAT LINE if I got to talk to him! Pinch me, I'm going to the Expo!

Making a cancelable hotel reservation in Anaheim in the next few days! Woohoo!
Wish me luck that I won't ever have to use that canceling option...

YAY! Just was able to book 2 studios at VGC for August 22 and 23 for some after the Expo fun :)

Woo! We're staying for some after the Expo fun as well! :)
Most likely at the HOJO, since it's close and I've heard good things about it.

Anyone who's stayed at the HOJO, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

So now it's less than a year away! I'm pretty excited....anyone else give at rat's A**?

Thanks for reminding me about the Expo! We need to buy our tickets before the end of the year to get the discounted prices. -- Suzanne

watching that countdown clock and hoping that SOMEDAY they update the site :)

I keep forgetting to check the site, when they post something new like a schedule, update us here! I can't wait, I just got back from an overnight trip to DL and it was so much fun and exhausting, I can't wait for the expo!

I just started a thread for a DIS meet at the D23 Expo. Once they release the schedule we can do a poll for a date and time. If you're interested come on over and join in!

For those talking about transportation by cab to the Expo from the on-site Disney hotels they offered transportation each day. They would do the 1st pick up about 6AM or so, don't remember the exact time and then after the Expo they would be outside the convention center to take people back to the hotels. If I remember correctly we could buy a 4 day pass the 1st day that was good for the 4 days. I don't know what the pickup rotation was but the drop off rotation each day after was Grand Californian, Paradise Pier then Disneyland. Hope that helps.

I hope they post the Expo schedule sooner than later! It would help a lot in planning my trip out there.
Anyone who went to the '09 Expo remember when it went up?

If I recall, it seems like the official schedule went up about a month prior...subject to change.. :)

It might be available sooner this year. After all, in 2009, they hadn't even publically announced the September event until March! I think "Are You 23?" was still a well kept secret even within the Company prior to that time. That makes it pretty hard to plan.

For your own planning purposes, if you want to maximize your time at the Expo and enjoy the presentations, plan to spend every day there from 8 am (9 am for those not D23 members) to 6 pm or so, and possibly much later for some evenings. The first three nights in 2009, there was a 50 and Fabulous movie screening each night that started at 10 pm!

Personally, we never made it to DL on any of the days we went to the Expo. We found it hard even to find time to have lunch! But we went to 4 or 5 presentations each day and had a great time! We'll be back in August. -- Suzanne

So for us East Coast fans, would you recommend Embassy Suites Garden Grove, or HoJo. Last time we did Disneyana, I think we stayed at one of the Holiday Inns with a Convention Center.

DD24 & I are going with some friends from the Diva thread. We are staying at the Candy Cane Inn and going all three days!:)
