D23 Destination D 2016: Amazing Adventures - FULL AGENDA post 132 (pg7)

The Archives exhibit at Destination D last time was nowhere near the D23 Expo versions. Literally one small room with two glass cases of small objects and about four or five old Audio Animatronics lined up against the wall. I think was in there for about 5 minutes.

Mickey's of Glendale is pretty picked over by Sunday. I wouldn't advise anybody to wait until then. Likewise, the lines to get in and especially check out were so long that if you went during lunch break on session days, you'd probably miss out on some presentations or at least have a seat all the way in the back. I'd suggest shoppers to use the fact they open on Friday to get the big shopping done. Keep in mind that last time, VIPs had a two hour head start on shopping and pretty much wiped out the LE pins and exclusive Destination D merch before the regular folks got in (as opposed to the regular MOG stuff, which they had a lot of up until Sunday).
Very helpful. Thanks.

So for regular folks, what time would you suggest lining up for access on Friday, and how long do you think it will take to get through the whole process?

I would definitely also not suggest to wait till Sunday, but if you come in later on Friday (if you don't want LE pins) it will still be fine.
Also, I was not a VIP last time, though I did line up early (don't remember the exact time but I think I was within the first 50 after VIPs), and I had no trouble getting all the LE Pins and event exclusive merchandise, and when I went back Saturday, some of the very popular pins (Tangled Sorcerer hat characters) were also still there, so it is not true that VIPs wiped everything out, not even regular guests did that on Friday.
Still, I also recommend getting shopping done on Friday, because as you said you might not find enough time Sat or Sun to do so. How early to line up depends on what you are looking for (and what merch is even released) and when VIPs and regular ticket holders are even let in, it is hard to say without more info right now.
I would still suggest planning in 3 hours unless you want to line up super early (when I went to the MoG shopping day in May they forbade people from lining up before a certain time, although it was not as strictly enforced as it should have been).

The Adventurers' Club shirt and messenger bag got wiped out by the VIPs and they announced they would take orders for a rerun to be shipped to guests after the conference.

If it's like the last time, registration starts at 10 AM & MoG access starts at 1 PM. If shopping is a priority and you want first crack (especially for pins), I'd register as early as you can, then proceed immediately to the MoG line. There will be two: one for the VIPs entering at 11 AM & one for the general public entering at 1 PM. Check out in MoG can take as long as a half hour or 45 minutes.

Got my DME luggage tags yesterday! I am so ready for some Disney Magic, shopping at Mickey's of Glendale, and checking out the new/here for a limited time Champagne & Wine lounge at the Grand!

This is a bit OT but I didn't find a subforum for D23 membership questions - so I have been a member since 2012, and my renewal date is each year in November. Yet I think something went wrong when I renewed earlier than usual last year with the magazines, as I received last year's fall issue twice and this year's none at all (I emailed D23 member services about that recently to have it replaced but have not yet heard back). My online account on DS.com though still says "renew Nov 30". I wanted to renew now for this year (to get this payment out of the way before my WDW trip) but I am hesistant to do so now as not to cause more mixups - I think what must have happened is that for some reason their system counted last year's fall issue as my first one and not like a proper renewal although the expiration date on my membership was not affected by that. Has anyone else had these troubles when renewing early? Should I just wait till end of November to do so? Thank you!

Any recollection on how long registration took?

I am thinking I would rather wait until later in the day on Friday to register and go into MOG than standing in a long line in the morning. Hit the MK in the morning and then head over. Yes. I might miss some special LE items, but it sounds like that might be a possibility anyway. I'm OK with that.

One month out.... Hoping more information is coming soon. :tilt:

I was there as soon as it opened and it took 2 minutes. I don't think there will be long lines...

Here is what I noted about tickets in a previous post -

There is a link for park tickets once you have purchased Destination D admission. To answer your question, no, they are good for other days besides Saturday and Sunday. As convention guests you can buy longer multi-day tickets or multiple after 3pm or single day admissions. Sunday begins a blackout period from 11/20 - 11/26 though for after 3pm tickets. The website has all the details. Multi day tickets expire 14 days after first use. All tickets expire 12/31/2017. Tickets are for use by convention attendees and their guests during your stay.

Y'all! I goofed. I am so sorry!!!

I was looking at upgrading my 1 day ticket to a 2 day. In my re-read I realized that the above quote is wrong. The blackout dates for after 3pm tickets are for 2017. They do not affect this meeting. Read the fine print and don't listen to me!!!

Got my DME luggage tags yesterday! I am so ready for some Disney Magic, shopping at Mickey's of Glendale, and checking out the new/here for a limited time Champagne & Wine lounge at the Grand!

What is the champagne and wine lounge?

While excited for the evening events, now I need to change those ADR dinner plans that were made 5 months ago ...
Wondering when they will let us know for sure which Park we will be in on Sunday evening. The Park could influence where to eat....

Just keep swimming :fish: :fish: :fish:

Overall it will be an awesome weekend!

Hi all,

We just decided today that we'd like to attend this event. If I upgrade my D23 membership to Gold , does it happen immediately and i can purchase the tickets to the event?

Also - we're local. Would it be advisable to take a half day of work for this event in order to get registered on Friday and shop?

Thank you.

I saw it on Facebook - The Garden View Champagne & Wine Lounge. There was an article on chipandco.com about it. It appears to be a 'lounge' serving drinks and appetizer-type snacks. Open from now (?) through middle or end of December.

They just announced that theme park admission will NOT be needed to attend the Sunday night event.
