D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Yes, reading along...blah, blah, blah, oh!

Is that a wound on a puppy or on you from when the mama bit you?

That's what I hoped!

Daisy bit a stray puppy that had been dumped in front of our house. It had adopted our yard, and tried to nurse about a week ago. Not a good idea; it got the snot bit out of it on the head, near the ear. It's become a festering mess, and I know, it's got VERY little chance of ever finding a home anywhere. Poor thing.

My own bite is all closed up with 2 nifty little pink scars, but the internal damage is lasting WAY longer than I had hoped. When I meet you, PLEASE shake my hand VERY gently!!!

Good morning, Liesa. Any more sales? I love the pic on the Carousel. No big plans for us this weekend. I'm doing laundry, making cookies for my baby who is coming home again this weekend and cleaning. I think I'll start working on my "packing" list this weekend too.

I would LOVE some cookies right now. Alas, my cookie pans have gone to their new happy baker. I think the next homebaked tasty I will get is my own mom's Nestle chipperoos.

Sales are slow these days. :lmao::lmao::lmao: Some folks just left, and bought a grand total of $5 worth of stuff.

HOWEVER!!!! I have sold all my scrapbooking stuff, ALL my kids craft stuffs (tissue paper, glue, etc...) 4 seasons of Little House on the Prairie, our vast collection of video cassette movies, and some other stuff for about $200. Can you guess where that is going??

YEP!! Straight to my super secret Disney account! Why?? Because DH was willing to just walk away from it all, throw it away, pitch it. You get the idea. I made the effort- I get the cash! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Ouch! Hopefully I'll remember.

I will remind you. ;)

Well Rosie is well rested slept 11hours !!Unheard of for me !:banana:On the shoe subject !! I always wore crocs but have sorta changed to sandals some of which are well worn soooo perfect for Disney!!:banana:I will take sneakers sandals and crocs in October so I have all bases covered !!I just have to dig out those comfy sneakers I wore in February which were the first ones that actually were all day wearable !!:worship:

Liessa good for you with the sales !!:banana:More Disney money!!!

With all this talk that we could face cataclysmic disaster in liquid form, I have begun to think of alternative fun-ness. I have been duly warned NOT to traipse around DTD in the rain, so am forced to come up with a variety of other things to do that can only be found in the realms of Walt.

OK! I’m up for the challenge of creating PLAN B, a contingency of sorts. I would love to hear what you’d do with a rainy day on property. The rules are easy, you can’t leave Disney. It’s that simple.

Here’s what I came up with- just throwing out the possibilities.

Raining slightly-

Stay in the parks and tour, but most likely go to DHS. Lots of indoor shows and rides. 2nd choice MK, but would focus on shopping on Main Street and hit a meal at The Plaza, where I hear you can still get in without an ADR often.

Raining moderately-

Call the Dining Line and get ADRs for 3 sit down meals. Probably wouldn’t matter where they were. Then don my poncho, and hit NEMO and FoLK.

Raining hard-

Monorail resort hopping. I would take time to really explore each one well, finding HMs, have a drink, or coffee, and shopping in the gift shops. I would probably also try to see if there was some entertainment at each one to enjoy over some appetizers or something. After that, I might head over to Jellyrolls or POR for the shows over there. If I did go to a park, it’d be only to hit up EPCOT’s Innoventions, I think. That’d probably be the only thing to get me to really get in there and explore.

Ok, what would you do?? I do especially want to hear from maroo on this one!! Eh-hmmm....

:banana: for the addition to the WDW funds!!

Did you ever see my post on wooden boxes on page 127?? :goodvibes

When it is raining really hard, I would recommend to stay under cover and just wait until it is rainig less hard, don't stand directly at the rope prepared to rush to TSM when the rope is dropped... :sad2: Don't ask how I came up with this bit of advise... :rolleyes1 You will be able to find out soon on my TR! ;)

Othwise, I think your ideas sound very good! DHS is indeed a good park for a rainy day!

One thing that might be worth checking out on rainy days is the character meeting places like the Character Spot at Epcot and the Animation Building at DHS. Normally I would not want to stand in line for a long time for a character, but when you can be dry while you wait, it becomes much more worthwhile! :goodvibes

AKL is pretty cool in the rain as well. Just to the right of the check-in desk/lobby concierge there is the library. This overlooks the Sunset Savanna (not the main one) and it even has a covered balcony. Also, you can walk along the two long corridors with rooms, in between the parts of the long corridors there are windows out to the savanna. Just, if you want to walk to the CS place to get a coffee or so, you would have to step outside (but the walkway is covered) at the pool area.

Hey, those who make the effort, keep the rewards of those efforts. That's my motto! So it is your money to spend as you see fit (I wear an XL in a t-shirt :lmao::lmao::lmao:).

Rosie, so glad that you rested well. 11 hours? I used to be able to do that and now, all of a sudden, I go to bed at 11:00 and I'm up at 6. What's up with that nonsense?

I usually wear gym shoes all day, go back to the resort for a swim, and then wear a different pair of gym shoes. This year I got two really comfy pairs of flip flops from Shoe Carninval. They are Nike brand -- which I never spend the money for -- but they were too cute (I got pink and black) and only $20.00 and are super comfy (I wore them at the zoo for four hours with no problems).

If it is raining lightly or moderately, we still hang out at the park. There is enough to do inside that it isn't so bad. If it is raining hard, we'll either go back and take a nap (you know when in your 50's you need naps like when you were little kids) or we'll go to one of the outlet malls (the one we go to you can walk under the awnings and not get wet). Or we would go to the CR and Poly to shop (DH will not even step foot in the GF).

I'm desperately behind on responses- a tragic result of being up to my neck in looky-loos. They spend 2 hours deciding to buy either a can of colored pencils or a pack of crayons. :sad2:

I think that's really good advise: don't wear the same shoes all day! :thumbsup2

And I forgot to say thank you to Liesa and Brook for the nice compliments on the sneaker and skirt style Katharina and I had during our trip! :goodvibes I think we could have been able to find cuter shoes to go with our outfits, but at WDW comfort beats vanity. :goodvibes And to be honest, the weather was so cold in January, we did not want to wear sandals most of the time, we needed the sneakers to prevent cold feet! :lmao:

Don't worry, it just seemed that you replied to all the other posts since and I was afraid my great shopping tips for your kids got missed. :goodvibes

Don't worry, I know how busy you are at the moment (and me continuing to post on your thread doesn't help either... :rolleyes1;))

Yes, I am all for A)!! The German economy is very much on a rebound at the moment (nobody knows why...) and this might just the stimulation it needs to take off for real! :lmao:

BUT this reminds me: I was meaning to tell you anyway that the toy museum has a shop with neat stuff. One thing I loved as a kid was little games in match boxes. I looked at their website and I found this: http://www.museen.nuernberg.de/spielzeugmuseum/museumsladen/sonstiges.html The wooden tower is actually a box! It costs 5 Euros and looks just like one of the many city wall towers in Nuremberg. Might that not be something for your daughter who collects boxes?

I just showed this to Mikki and she is VERY excited at this!! She says, "Thank you very much for showing me this! I will definitely consider that!" It may be exactly what she is looking for!

I"m sure my kids' saved allowances are going to be the very thing the German economy needs to bring full restoration to it's slump. :lmao:

Lately, it seems I can never really get any sustained time online- only bits and snippets here and there, interspersed with browsing shoppers, oozing dog wounds, and hungry children. I suppose they do have to eat. :rolleyes1:lmao:

Tennies, in that heat, b/c my feet swell (nice huh) would actually be worse for me with socks. Not to mention I only wear them to the gym so don't find them comfy at all. They are hot and bulky! I hear you about not risking blisters.

The clowns are adorable!!!!!!!!!

What are you doing with your current dog?

Our househelper is going to take the dog. On the 13th- the day we move out. Ok, I want your final, final shoe count. Let's have it.

I absolutely love these pics -- just too cute and a great way to get mom ready for her trip. My goodness...it is hot there! I hope you get a cooling off period soon (it's back up to the 90's for us tomorrow; not sure about the humidity)

HI Kat!! Thank GOD, it did not end up being 109, but only topped out at about 100. I was very thankful!!

YEAH for 11 straight hours!! I LOVE THAT!!

It's a real dilemma that shoe business! In the end, we all have to just go with what we know works.

$10 more bucks just now!! WOOT!

I think we could have been able to find cuter shoes to go with our outfits, but at WDW comfort beats vanity.

just as with the drinks rule- Cold Trumps All; same holds true for shoes in Disney- Comfort Trumps All. :thumbsup2

Hey There!!!

What a crazy few days it's been!! I"ve finished my flip calendars I want to sell when I get back (fundraising, you know ;)), finished up our little postcards/contact info thingys we're giving to our friends, got our goodbye lunch cooked up for tomorrow's goodbye party at church, sold another load of carp, AND

Best of all, downloaded all the DISigns for ADR and Mousekeeping Tips I want. Hopefully, I can also get them printed off today as well, and IN my Disney bag.

I talked to my mom just last night, and she said that indeed it had just arrived on Thursday!! As well and something from Pennsylvania?? I wonder if that could be something from Jenb1023?? Yes, Jen?? I did ask her to open the one from you and she said it was Mickey heads with ribbons, so I"m positive that one must be yours!!!

I desperately wish I could get her to take a picture for me, but that's NOT going to happen. ONe of those who don't get it, and even if she did, there's no way on earth she'd be able to figure out how to get a photo sent to me. So, photos will have to wait until I actually get there and get it hung up. So think of it as a surprise . :goodvibes

Anyway, again, THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for helping to make my trip more special with a nice touch of pixie dust!! :goodvibes

Almost time for our MEET!!!

So glad that it got there. I was worried about how it would do in the mail. I wrapped each different color set of Mickey heads in a Disney napkin and taped them. :rolleyes1 I tried to gather the different color ribbons and tape them slightly so they wouldn't get to bent.

I was happy to do that for you. :goodvibes

Hmmm, what to do when it rains.....

If we're at the park and it is raining slightly to moderately, we usually put on a poncho (seems that we have a zillion of them because we keep forgetting to take them with us and end up getting new ones) and keep on trekkin'. Sometimes it depends on what park we're in.

If it downpours, which it did May 2009 like nothing I have ever seen in my life, we SHOP! :woohoo: We'll just go into a rather large shop, i.e., the Emporium, Mouse Gear, etc. and spend the time shopping until it stops.

If it doesn't look like it will stop, we head back to the resort and watch a bit of tv. Well, Joe watches tv and I organize my purchases, figure out what to send home UPS, stuff like that.

I am glad you are all enjoying my expert weather vocabulary. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Swirlies indeed. I have been able to spot those which require more attention.

Hopefully we will not have our trips interrupted by a wet, blowing mess.

Here is my definition of downpour:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

We got in around noon...this is what we saw when we approached WDW:

Yeah, poncho, smon-cho....we were soaked! :rotfl2:

I would love to hear what you’d do with a rainy day on property. The rules are easy, you can’t leave Disney. It’s that simple.

When we had the kids with us, we went to Disney Quest and had a blast! When it was just me and Tom, it was only moderate rain, so we donned our ponchos and stuck it out. So, not much help from me. :rotfl:
