D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

OK, we got an e-mail this morning that says Mike won the Early Bird Registration Drawing!!! It's good for a certificate for $250 worth of services at the Club, one round of golf (we don't golf), fitness center time (he's all OVER that!!!), AND the best part (here's how I won too!!!) dinner for 2 at the Country Club Restaurant!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

 That is amazing! What a cool bit of luck. Nice welcome back to the states, huh?!

I remember your hoop bathroom story - that is HI-larious! Wish I could have been there to see it:rotfl2: And it reminds me of a good bathroom story of my own (well, my mom's to be exact):

We were down at the lake last summer (yes, the one I'm doing the mini-TR about), and a group of us ladies had driven in to Branson to do some shopping. While the rest of us were in one store, my mom traipsed across the parking lot to the Walmart as she needed to pick up something over there.

While she was there, she decided to avail herself of the facilities. The store was set up just like her Walmart at home, with the restrooms at the front of the store. There was an entry, and then you could go to the left or the right as the restroom was set up like a large U. Think airport restrooms, with two entrance/exits.

At least that's how she thought it was set up. That's how her Walmart at home was set up. This one, apparently, was women's on the right, men's on the left. Unfortunately, she didn't notice this until she was actually IN the stall. She was too busy admiring the granite countertops (pretty unusual for a Walmart!) to notice the urinals on her way in.

It wasn't until she saw a pair of men's shoes enter the stall next to her that she realized one of them was in the wrong place. After finishing her business, she opened her stall door a crack. Just enough to glimpse a man standing at the urinal right in front of her.

After about five minutes of trying to time her exit when there was either no one in the room or they were all in stalls, she gave up and just ran out quickly, head down.

When she finally caught up with us, she was laughing so hard it took 10 minutes for her to spit out the story. I think I laughed so hard I peed my pants a little. :rotfl:

It's September......in Orlando........whether it rains or not, your clothes are probably going to get wet!!! :rotfl2: I don't usually pack any more, except some laundry detergent and hope the washers are close if I need them. :thumbsup2

Detergent is on my list. I just hope I don't have to spend ANY time in there. But will if I have to.

Hey, you're jipping me out of 6 holes! Of course, a dozen and a half doughnuts can't be THAT much worse for my health, can it??? :confused3

Nope- doughnuts can go matchy-matchy- one for each hole of golf.

Then again, you could go with doughnut HOLES, but that's not nearly as good for you.

So many comments, so little time......

I know. The possibilities were endless.

Just an FYI; Up is muscles, down is arm flab.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wish I had found that thread I used to answer the latest question sooner.....might have given me a clue as to the answer to your fashionista one...

doh!

Japanese candy in China.....it could happen!

Well, maybe japanese candy ON china.......

Hmmmm.... you've got a point there.

You've been away a long, looong time haven't you??? ;)

Apparently not long enough. :lmao:

Liesa, I usually start checking at 15 days out for the extended forecast; then I check it every day after that. Although I have to tell you, I just don't worry about the weather that much. If it's going to rain, it's going to rain. I can't change it. The last four Septembers we have gone there has been a threat of hurricanes. In 2008, our 25th anniversary trip, there was a threat of three of them. We had a 1/2 day of rain at Disney and then went to Daytona Beach for a week and had NO rain.

Love that you guys won a prize for you entering the 5K...and you didn't even know there was a drawing. :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Our last trip we got drowned out of our first 2 nights at the Fort. It sucked. After that, (I think it was Faye) we coasted through with only one poncho- donning.

Prizes won completely by SURPRISE are the BEST kind.

Can't remember your China preferences, but if you keep eating all that curry and cabbage, then I hope for the sake of the rest of the batallion that it is a fan. (NOJordan)

It will certainly be a whirlwind trip through WS, in that case.

I'll predict the weather.. here it goes. HOT mid 90's with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Let's see if I am right.

OK, i'm holding you to it.

Congrats on winning!!!!! Mark this one up as some early pixie dust! ::yes::

I like that!!! Think we'll get an upgrade at the POLY too?? :lmao:

Go to the park and enjoy the non-existent crowds!!!!!!! :cool1:

I liked that previous comment- but LOVE this one. Non-existent crowds make me VERY happy. I have many a memory of an EMPTY DLR as a kid- walking on HM over, and over, and over.....

I start looking at Accuweather 15 days. I know it is going to change but what can I say? I guess I am in good company.
Weather Channel and looking at the coast of Africa is my advice too. Watch the swirlies to figure out which one might "make" a hurricane.

This made me laugh out loud! "Watch the swirlies" :lmao: :goodvibes
I was laughing at that too.. Here are some swirlies to look out for!!!!!

Phew, thanks! :thumbsup2

My answer is

You're so welcome!! Be persistent- the consistent guessers will be the ones who dominate. ;)

Got your answer- which, by the way, was spot on.

Just make sure that your rain day plans don't include shopping at DTD. I love to shop and I won't even do that to myself.

That I can believe. Unless you like dodging/running from store to store, and itching whilst picking out next year's ornament.

Congrats on that 5K prize. My DH would be all over that free golf. Loves it, but hasn't been able to go over a year now. Is your husband doing the 5K also?

Yes, he is!! we've been training at the track together for a couple months, although buffy hubby started out WAY more (I emphasize WAY) in shape than me. He wanted to do the pump and run (where you first do a bench press event to bring down your total time), but thought it too much after having just traveled.

We've never gotten into golf- too much time, too expensive for our Goodwill budget.

I couldn't find the link and yet I remember the discussion about a souvie fron each country!! So Iwill make a total guess !!

Nice guess, but not the one I am looking for. You have until tomorrow to try agian, just cuz I'm nice- IF you want to do some more hunting.

:rotfl: Ellen is a good one for waiting out a rain! The American Adventure show is a good length, as well as Beauty and the Beast at DHS (which is where we were the one time it did rain while we were there), it's covered.

Yes, I actually thought long and hard about my RAIN CONTINGENCY PLAN, and will enlighten you all very soon. ;)

Ellen, I just simply won't do. But the AA I'd do, rain or shine- yes, Brook , we are twin history goobers. B&B I did last time with my little girl- snooooooooooooooooe factor 10. Never have done LMermaid though, is it covered??

But Maroo! :worship: 4 minutes. She beat me!

She is one quick cookie. I can't wait to see her iPHone prowess on our trip!

That is GREAT advice!!!

Heidi is the GAG! You might think that that's a BAD title, but it's actually a very good one- it stands for GREAT ADVICE GURU!!! (Why am I having second thoughts on this idea??)

Oh Oh Oh Mr Kottttteeerrr !!!!!:lmao:I found the right answer !!

It,s a

Now, see that's what I get for not scrolling down far enough when replying! :rotfl2:

For some reason I skipped over this earlier... I must of been caught up with my weather predictions. Anyways here is my answer:::

:thumbsup2

Thorough, you are, young Jedi Guesser!!

I hope your predictions are right- or at least as good as your R,S,R guesses.

I start looking at Accuweather 15 days. I know it is going to change but what can I say? I guess I am in good company.
Weather Channel and looking at the coast of Africa is my advice too. Watch the swirlies to figure out which one might "make" a hurricane.

Unfortunately, I am a hurricane magnet. I have sloshed through US and IoA in hurricane Kate or Irene, I can't remember which one joined us on our vacation.

I figure the usual, extra socks, shoes and quaters for the dryer should do.:rotfl2:

OK, my eyes are on the swirlies. Well, my Grand High Poobah is on it, anways. (maroo, did you receive this intelligence?? watch the swirlies, she says!)

Sloshing through a hurricane doesn't sound like any fun at all- unless your resting under a covered spot with a good tall bevvie in hand.

Actually, one of my VERY favorite memories of our last trip was sitting on the porch at the Traders Outpost at the Fort with a raging thunderstorm all around us. It was fantastic just sitting there, listening to the thunder, watching the people run for their lives, etc... it was great!!

OH YESS!! Extra quarters!! I'm inundated wtih AMAZING advice!!! :worship:

WHAT??!! I thought you hadn't overlooked a thing!! I think you better bookmark weatherunderground ASAP!

Yes, it was a more obscure souvie pick.

More coffee is always better than a free round of golf. Especially since i don't play. ;)

seriously? A poncho a day? I'll just get wet.

I suppose if it were just me I could see it but lets see....14 days x 6 people = way more ponchos than I want to buy!

We have 2 each. I may bring 3 small umbrellas given that the forecast jumped from 40% to 50-60% chance of rain since this morning.

I do have Orlando weather booked on my home page lol, I just hadn't looked at the 10 day for our trip yet!

and I do have the weather center app on my phone....plus the phone pulls it up anyway.

I'm too tired to go looking so here goes nothing. Tea sets or rice bowls. I have a vague recollection of one or the other but make no promises as the doulbe up of pilates and zumba tonight has turned my brain into sticky rice.

This made me laugh out loud! "Watch the swirlies" :lmao: :goodvibes

Liesa, Maroo - we have DVC, so if you are in desperate need of a dryer, they are free for us!

It made me laugh too!

Nice!!! That would a UNIQUE DISMeet for sure!! Let's all get together and do our laundry. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

 That is amazing! What a cool bit of luck. Nice welcome back to the states, huh?!

Those, my friend, are the most dangerous kind EVER!!! But arm flabbies LOVE them. :lmao:

Never have done LMermaid though, is it covered??
You are speaking about LM in DHS??? It is totally inside although there is a possibility it could rain in there.;) So I guess you are covered!!!

She is one quick cookie. I can't wait to see her iPHone prowess on our trip!
I bet it is amazing!

Thorough, you are, young Jedi Guesser!!
I didn't feel like typing it.... just a little copy & paste!

Ok, lady, you must be VERY, VERY tired! Do you realize that this is the first question EVER! in all the games, I think you've biffed??!!! I am stunned! Beyond words completely!!

Weather is so tricky- I try to stay away from it, and let maroo do the thinking on it. I'm just making sure to pack extra socks and extra quarters (unless we do the craziest meet the DIS has ever seen and go to Brook's place for some dryer action).

I need to see what all this "app" ado is. No idea what they are , or how they work.

Yes, I was. I've never stepped inside, and have no idea really what to expect over there. I've heard things get ummm... "misty"- in a variety of ways.

I didn't feel like typing it.... just a little copy & paste!

I surmised.

That sounds awesome!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

It was so fun!! We did the same thing over on the Trails End porch on rocking chairs one day too. That was even better!!! They are sooooooo comfy!

my brain is fried between work, working out and last minute trip stuff and of course, those darn kids!

and cats. One who I'm about to dump on my dad for 2 weeks and we fear is becoming incontinent.

Sigh.

I know I know, I was too lazy to look! And I figure I'm out of the game anyway as it will continue after I'm in DISNEY! There has been far more trip work this week than I'd expected, in fact I have to call Delta tomorrow, again. BLEH and double BLEH.

In the rain.

60% chance. Bleh.

Now, on the positive side, that amount of rain really validates my no tennis shoe philosophy. No wet socks makes life a LOT easier and more comfy if you ask me!

C'mon, I'm sure I missed one somewhere, sometime. Really, I'm just trying not to hog all the fabulous prizes! The yurt of course, being my favorite though I was tempted to break out the camel whip recently.

Our TV went out the door a couple of days ago, and my kids have creatively come up with some amazing ways to entertain themselves. Of course, I LOVE IT, and it gets me in the mood for my upcoming La Nouba experience.

Who needs a TV, anyway??

That was yesterday. Today they are up at our street corner selling all my canning jars and plants. So far, they've made about $10 each for souvies in Germany!! Ah, the making of little capitalists.

Today it is somewhere over 100, and they are such little troopers to sit out there!! Tomorrow is forecast to 109!! :scared1::scared1: I can't wait to board that plane on Sunday (Aug. 15th)!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I also went back and edited the recipe into the Curry post. I also added the link in the TOC so it's easy to find. Sorry, I don't always stay on top of the links- seems I often forget to do that.

You know. No matter how much you do before hand (ie. our move, and your trip) you still have LOTS to do right up until leaving- it's just unavoidable no matter how much effort goes into trying wrap it up early!

Sorry, it's so frantic right now for you!! I'd be worried about a cat peeing too; I'd never hear the end of it from my parents!

I may not have a choice but to do tennies at least some of the time. I can't get new sandals until I get back home, and that may not be enough time to break them in. I just can't risk blisters- no matter how dorkish I look. Which is most of the time anyway, since I may wear a butt pack too.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:Great story!!

Actually here in Germany it is kind of common when you are at big events where of course the line at the ladies' room is enormous and the line for the men's room non-existent that some ladies just go into the men's room. I don't do that, but it is kind of halfway socially acceptable.

I was laughing at that too.. Here are some swirlies to look out for!!!!!

Those look delicious!! popcorn::

Wow, I can't believe how hot is there. :scared1: It's been humid as all get out here but the temp hasn't gone past the 80's. :upsidedow

I would have no problem with that- IF there weren't urinals- which there always seem to be.

We are melting. I am looking out my window right now, and I do see some cloud buildup- I SO hope we get even a teensy bit of rain!!

I missed your clown post... Very funny! It is amazing what that colour does to make a face look like a stranger!

You will be relieved to know that the longterm weather forecast for Nuremberg is rather pleasant: http://www.weather24.com/16days/r/Nuernberg/Germany/DE0007131

I need to get that list of restaurant recommendations to you as soon as possible, when will be your last day with a computer?? Was there anymore info on Germany that I promissed you? I think I will try to get instructions from my father on how to find the walk on top of the city wall in Nuremberg - I think you can access it from the castle. Actually, can you still print stuff? maybe it woudl be better to send you a letter to the hotel, so you can pick it up there in paper form?

Here things are progressing as well. I just booked the movers! :scared1: They will come and pick up my things here in Berlin on August 24! :scared1::scared1: But I will get the boxes on August 16 so I can start packing before I come to Nuremberg! I am actually quite glad that the Nuremberg visit will only be a visit without any work related to moving and such! :goodvibes

It really does change the whole look! It was hilarious to watch the kids practicing their clown faces and having fun! They had quite a nice time doing their photo shoot.

Oh my! That is a LOVELY forcast! I threw in a light jacket for the mornings. It will be a VERY welcome change from here, for sure!

Our last day on line for at least a couple days will be the 13th evening. AFter that we'll be at a friend's house. I MIGHT be able to do a bit of posting on the 16th from The Big City, but then off again while in Nuremberg.

We can print for sure until then (the 13th). It'd be fun to have that info on walking the wall. I'm sure the hotel can tell us too, if your dad does't recall or is busy. Sending a letter to the hotel is a good idea too! We may try that beerhall like place for our first night. Then you can surprise us on the night we have dinner together. But of course, a list of alternatives would be fantastic too! In case the other place is closed or such.

I'm really glad too you don't have work to do while in Nuremberg too. Sounds like you have a nice transition lined up. But, it always happens much faster in the end that you think it's going to! So then, the 24th is your big day. When exactly to you have to start your next job?

I hope it stays that way! :goodvibes Would be perfect weather for touring a city!

Ok, for some reason or another I thought you would already be offline from the 10th... So, I still have some time. I don't mind wether you are offline while you are in Nuremberg - I will see you in real life there!! :yay:

I have heard that the beerhall like place (I guess you mean the micro brewery?) does not do very good food, more snacks and such. I was thinking a beergarden would be great for our dinner together. But I will send you a list of options!

September 1 will be my first day at the new job! I am really looking forward to it! And then on September 6 will be the first day I am hearing a case! :scared1: But inbetween I will spend the weekend hiking in the Alps with some friends... That should help to calm my nerves! :goodvibes
