D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

I will never tire of that Hoop Dee Do VIEW story :lmao:

Answer to Q#9 is: Soldier #1 is seeking a mini rice picker bamboo hat in China

23 Days until DC Meet!!!! :woohoo:

15 days seems like it's long enough to know whether there is a baby hurricane out there or not. For me, it won't really matter either way. I only have what I'm packing now, and that's it. I suppose a last minute run to Target would work, but honestly I have no idea how I'd pack differently for a trip with a storm, and one without. :confused3 More ponchos, I guess...
Nothing really different for a trip in September. I pack a poncho anyway, and it's not like the temperatures are going to fluctuate much so you need additional clothing. The biggest thing for me is being "mentally" prepared I guess, on what to expect and how much of my time will be spent in air conditioned shows and at the pool. Now for a December trip.......might make a difference between taking a jacket, or the heavier items for warmth.
But what adjustments would you make? More clothes? Different shoes? Which reminds me? I have a pair of HOT PINK Crocs that I"m planning on taking. For all you shoe experts out there--- (sorry guys) how do Crocs do in wet weather?? Any other suggestions on shoes to wear in wet conditions??
I guess that's the good thing about being a guy. We don't have so many shoe choices to worry about.:thumbsup2 I do take every pair of hot pink crocs I own every time I go though, just in case. :)
I LOVE FREE!! Free golf- not so much. But I can dig a free dinner.
Hey, I can always get into some free golf.:rolleyes1
Ya did good, Marv!
TY :woohoo:
Maybe I should bring my Settlers Game?
Now you're talking....if you think you can handle the beatdown!!! :rotfl2:
You just keep us all abreast of the sitchyachun; I now appoint you HIGH GRAND POOMBAH OF HURRICANE SCUTTLEBUTT & PONCHO PREPARER PANTS!
Nice title, but are you sure you have the authority of bestowancy??? :confused3
Hurricane- I laugh in your face! I defy you to ruin my vacation- It will not happen. (Was that scary enough?)
I don't think I woulda said that..... :scared1:
COULD being the operative word. Now, I've obsessed about 3 hours now about what I'd do in the event of a weather issue....
One minute you laugh in the face of the weather gods, then you turn around and obsess??? Which is it gonna be???
More restaurants- more time IN the restaurants- more time in the shops looking for Hidden Mickeys- should I even dare say, I might actuallly GO on Ellen?? :scared1:
Ellen? You must be expecting one WHALE of a storm... :rotfl2:
I re-read it too, and laughed out loud. I'm easily amused.
Yeah, that was a doozie!

i think you would like the luau as well, good show, great great food, and free drinks there as well.

as for the answer im guessing with....a pearl or some japanese candy

I never look at the weather forecast for Orlando anymore......always said the same thing.....hot with a chance of thunderstorm in the afternoon. :lmao: I can't change it anyways so why bother worrying about it.

For your peace of mind....a Disney resort is just about the safest place you can be in a hurricane. They won some sort of award for Hurrican prepariness (sp?) and safety of the buildings.

Crocs are great in the rain/downpours because you aren't stuck with wet shoes after it stops. Just throw a pair of socks in your bag for at night if your feet get cold....I had that happen to me at Epcot and I wasn't paying $12 for socks.

Do you realize I haven't even LOOKED at the forecast?

:scared1:

That Hoop story still cracks me up.

and UGH now I have to go do research. I think I know I think I know I think I know...but am not sure.

need.more.coffee.

:cool1: on winning the drawing! How fun is that!!!!!!

WHAT??!! I thought you hadn't overlooked a thing!! I think you better bookmark weatherunderground ASAP!

Yes, it was a more obscure souvie pick.

More coffee is always better than a free round of golf. Especially since i don't play. ;)

Tee Hee....

You are bringing disposable ponchos - right? The kind you throw away? Are those the kind you like?

And congrats on winning the big prize!!!!!!! You guys so deserve it!!

Now...I gotta go hunt for the answer. :goodvibes

Yes, need to hit the dollar store. I'm bringing many. As in one for each day, plus extra. I need to remind LeeAnn about this!!!

found it...

Nicely done.:goodvibes

I will never tire of that Hoop Dee Do VIEW story :lmao:

Answer to Q#9 is:
23 Days until DC Meet!!!! :woohoo:

Got it!

YES!!!! We are way under a month for that!!!! I'm psyched! Gosh!? How long is it before my Nuremberg Meet??

12 days!!! :scared1::woohoo::woohoo: THAT, my friends IS WAY hard to believe!!!

Nothing really different for a trip in September. I pack a poncho anyway, and it's not like the temperatures are going to fluctuate much so you need additional clothing. I didn't think so. Temps are the same really- just hot and wet. I'd say perhaps a bit MORE clothing in case it gets wet?

I do take every pair of hot pink crocs I own every time I go though, just in case. :)

Ummmm... TAG FAIRY!! You are needed STAT!!

Hey, I can always get into some free golf.:rolleyes1

Free doughnuts are good too!

Now you're talking....if you think you can handle the beatdown!!! :rotfl2:

I can. Playing with rookies is like a cat with some nip.

Nice title, but are you sure you have the authority of bestowancy??? :confused3
I do. Well, at least I took it.

I don't think I woulda said that..... :scared1:

I was just flexing my muscles some. I was hoping to come off as "in your face"; hope I didn't just wake him up.

One minute you laugh in the face of the weather gods, then you turn around and obsess??? Which is it gonna be???

I'm pulling a Tate tonight.

Ellen? You must be expecting one WHALE of a storm... :rotfl2:
Yeah, that was a doozie!

Snooooooooooooooozer.

i think you would like the luau as well, good show, great great food, and free drinks there as well.

Ummmm ... wrong Asian country Dan. ;)

I might. I hear there's 1/2 naked men in it. Like Tarzan. But they play with fire, not monkeys.

I can now assure you, because of Heidi, ALL obsessing has now completely stopped- forever over the weather. You are so right. NOTHING can be changed-

HOWEVER, I am beginning to think we do need a bit of a contingency plan for RAIN- we'll call it, let's see... something really, really creative....

"Lotso Rain Contingency Plan"

I imagine this MAY deserve and ENTIRE post. Raise your hand if you're surprised.

I thought so.

Now, on the Crocs. THANKS, Heidi!!!! :worship::worship: Will do! $12 would be seriously painful. That's like an entire Grey Goose!! :scared1:

It's September......in Orlando........whether it rains or not, your clothes are probably going to get wet!!! :rotfl2: I don't usually pack any more, except some laundry detergent and hope the washers are close if I need them. :thumbsup2
Ummmm... TAG FAIRY!! You are needed STAT!!
Free doughnuts are good too!
Hey, you're jipping me out of 6 holes! Of course, a dozen and a half doughnuts can't be THAT much worse for my health, can it??? :confused3
I can. Playing with rookies is like a cat with some nip.
So many comments, so little time......
I was just flexing my muscles some. I was hoping to come off as "in your face"; hope I didn't just wake him up.
Just an FYI; Up is muscles, down is arm flab.
I'm pulling a Tate tonight.
Wish I had found that thread I used to answer the latest question sooner.....might have given me a clue as to the answer to your fashionista one...
Ummmm ... wrong Asian country Dan. ;)
Japanese candy in China.....it could happen!

Well, maybe japanese candy ON china.......
I might. I hear there's 1/2 naked men in it. Like Tarzan. But they play with fire, not monkeys.
You've been away a long, looong time haven't you??? ;)

So, ok, retarded question.... when DO people start looking at the weather forecasts for their trips?? 2 weeks out?? 1 week out?? I'm thinking if there was something serious out there, it'd show up in the ocean a while before it hit the east coast, right?

Remember that 5K we registered for?? In Bowling Green? Well, it's in a sub-division, I guess in a REALLY NICE sub-division because they have a club and a golf course, and a fitness center and a restuarant. KNOW how I KNOW this??

Go ahead, ask me!!!!

Alright, since you insist:

OK, we got an e-mail this morning that says Mike won the Early Bird Registration Drawing!!! It's good for a certificate for $250 worth of services at the Club, one round of golf (we don't golf), fitness center time (he's all OVER that!!!), AND the best part (here's how I won too!!!) dinner for 2 at the Country Club Restaurant!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I knew there was a reason I entered this 5K- I KNEW IT!!!! (not really, we didn't even know there was a drawing!! :lmao:)

BOOM, BABY!!!!
Liesa, I usually start checking at 15 days out for the extended forecast; then I check it every day after that. Although I have to tell you, I just don't worry about the weather that much. If it's going to rain, it's going to rain. I can't change it. The last four Septembers we have gone there has been a threat of hurricanes. In 2008, our 25th anniversary trip, there was a threat of three of them. We had a 1/2 day of rain at Disney and then went to Daytona Beach for a week and had NO rain.

Love that you guys won a prize for you entering the 5K...and you didn't even know there was a drawing. :yay::yay::yay::yay:

HI Guys,

It's been a LONG day with translation (almost done with that for a while!) and selling more stuff. We sold the BB gun for $80 bucks today, as well as a bunch of other poop. (How many tablecloths does one need?!)

Tomorrow I'll work on getting that recipe up (I'll edit it into the Curry On Post) and catch up on more threads. Sorry to those I didn't get to tonight!!

Have a great DAY!! :dance3:

Can't remember your China preferences, but if you keep eating all that curry and cabbage, then I hope for the sake of the rest of the batallion that it is a fan. (NOJordan)

Well, that's no stinkin' help. 2 or 3 DAYS??? I"ll have been packed for 2 weeks by then. Ah well.... if there's a direct hit, I'll plan on being in my Tea Time.
I'll predict the weather.. here it goes. HOT mid 90's with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Let's see if I am right.

Speaking of "TEE TIME". GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BOOM, BABY!!!!
Congrats on winning!!!!! Mark this one up as some early pixie dust! ::yes::

I look 10 days out as well. It changes every single day, but I still look. I can't help it! I actually have Orlando weather on my Google homepage. He he.
I have Orlando saved on weather.com and on the weather app on my phone.. LOL

COULD being the operative word. Now, I've obsessed about 3 hours now about what I'd do in the event of a weather issue....
Go to the park and enjoy the non-existent crowds!!!!!!! :cool1:

Just make sure that your rain day plans don't include shopping at DTD. I love to shop and I won't even do that to myself.

Congrats on that 5K prize. My DH would be all over that free golf. Loves it, but hasn't been able to go over a year now. Is your husband doing the 5K also?

I couldn't find the link and yet I remember the discussion about a souvie fron each country!! So Iwill make a total guess !!

a rice bowl

:rotfl: Ellen is a good one for waiting out a rain! The American Adventure show is a good length, as well as Beauty and the Beast at DHS (which is where we were the one time it did rain while we were there), it's covered.

Your time between posts was 5 minutes. That's exactly how long it takes me also to pour coffee, sugar it up, stir in the milk, AND get a kid peed. You rock! :lmao:

:cool2:

See?? It woulda taken longer if it was #2. ;)

I almost spit my Diet Coke out! :rotfl2:

found it...

But Maroo! :worship: 4 minutes. She beat me!

That is GREAT advice!!!

Where do you come up with this?!?! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

I'll predict the weather.. here it goes. HOT mid 90's with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Let's see if I am right.

 Hmmm...I wonder!

Oh Oh Oh Mr Kottttteeerrr !!!!!:lmao:I found the right answer !!

It,s a HAT!!!!!!!!!!! cost about $4 and made of Bamboo!!

And now this brings us to Question #9:

What nifty little souvenir is Soldier #1 going to hunt for in China?

For some reason I skipped over this earlier... I must of been caught up with my weather predictions. Anyways here is my answer:::

My first thought was to find a nice, pretty pair of chopsticks. Wooden ones are more my style than plastic, and I'd love a long pair to cook with. However, I also thought a chopstick rest might be fun- so off I went to do some research. LO AND BEHOLD, chopstick rests are more traditionally Japanese, so that won't do.

The allears site says for about $4 they have some mini rice picker bamboo hats for sale.
:thumbsup2

So, ok, retarded question.... when DO people start looking at the weather forecasts for their trips?? 2 weeks out?? 1 week out?? I'm thinking if there was something serious out there, it'd show up in the ocean a while before it hit the east coast, right?

We start looking at the 14 day forecast. It's funny though because every year by the time we get to 5 days out, the weather has changed a lot since we first started checking. I don't know why, but I'm obsessed with starting 15 days out. :rolleyes1

But I am looking at long range models already because I am obsessed and find this incredibly interesting. The GFS model that goes out 16 days is showing something coming off the coast of Africa that has the potential to be "something." But like anyone can predict 16 days out! The TSR is predicting an active August for hurricanes and tropical storms. So...who knows. :confused3

But I know we will have fun no matter what and we are there for 11 nights! :yay: Hurricanes don't stick around that long!

I start looking at Accuweather 15 days. I know it is going to change but what can I say? I guess I am in good company.
Weather Channel and looking at the coast of Africa is my advice too. Watch the swirlies to figure out which one might "make" a hurricane.

Unfortunately, I am a hurricane magnet. I have sloshed through US and IoA in hurricane Kate or Irene, I can't remember which one joined us on our vacation.

I figure the usual, extra socks, shoes and quarters for the dryer should do.:rotfl2:
