D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Only one similariy between WDW and cross-steppe trip - will there be more????

Our kids ARE amazing travelers. The really seem to take circumstances in stride, and just deal with stuff. Then again, they don't understand that at any time along the road, corrupt or mis-informed police could throw us in jail at any "just because". There is a true-life horror story coming up in the segment later on about our border crossing. Think the movie "Terminal".

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I guess, you are right. I remember a trip with my parents to Poland in 1987 in a small caravan. Our first and only trip to a communist country. I was twelve and although it was a different vacation for me as well, only after I grew older I was impressed by my parents courage. I think, after living in Central Europe post 1990 and learning a lot about life there before 1990, I got quite frightened "backward". But as a child I enjoyed this trip a lot!!!

Good morning, Katharina!!

HA! yes, there may be more similarities as I go along; I am really finding them as I go along. None of this is pre-written, as I just didn't have time (or a non-bumping writing opportunity) to get it written up before hand. ;)

Being in a country where law is not supreme, or questioned, is unnerving! There is a constant underlying fear just below the surface, which in my 9,5 year tenure here has given me wrinkles and gray hairs that just don't belong there. I hear Poland is a stunningly beautiful country with a rich history and amazing scenery. Kudos to your parents for braving the regime to see what it has to offer! :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh.

I will buy your first book. I will even write something you can put on the back cover. What an amazing journey so far!

Your kids are so resilient!

And I love your comparisons to WDW.... HA!

Hey, nice chapter titles! ;) Glad I could help.

The journey sounds rough already and I know there's even more adversity ahead. That spider was really cool....I've never seen anything like it.

Wow is all I have to say and we know there is more to come!

Jordan survived 7 hours of car time in one day and I was proud of her! I can't imagine 20! Your kids are troopers for sure!

book?? Ha, maybe someday, in the WAY future... after some counseling. LOL.

They definitely look at the world from completely different eyes than most. Seeing refugees flee from war is something most Americans will never have the heart-breaking experience of. :sad1:

I'm so glad you had those GREAT suggestions. I wasn't even thinking beyond what I was experiencing.

Wasn't that a COOL spider? I should poke around on the net to see if I can ID it.

PS. if you want a sneak preview of the pix, I just uploaded ALL of them onto FB. PM me...

Oh my. I don't know how you do it, just looking at the pictures has me whimpering for a blanket and pillow.

To be fair, they did sleep some of it. I used to be able to squish my body into funky contorted positions- like on a plane- but no more. They (the kids) can manage to sleep anywhere.

Game boys, books, and bickering over who got the cherry yogurts helped pass the time too. :rolleyes1

I don't even know what to say. I just sit here and cringe and hold my breath with every chapter.

Glad they are not as saintly as I imagined! It is amazing the positions and the places kids can sleep in. Jordan fell asleep in her stroller during a parade and during Wishes at WDW! Whoever invented portable video games and dvd players are the smartest inventors ever IMO! Makes long trips with kids survivable for the parents!

It was quite an experience for sure! and that was only the beginning!! :scared1:

I'm not on Facebook...avoiding for as long as possible. That's okay, I'll see them as the TR unfolds.

Oh well.... but your kids are getting to that age where you won't be able to avoid it.

All caught up Liessa !!
Wow is all I can say !!:worship:I bow to your wit and stamina !!You and your family are amazing !!!:cloud9::hug:

Nope, they are very normal kids who love FB, reading, playing guitar and dombra, traveling, and playing with friends.
