Anyone else a D-23 member and disappointed?

I received a membership for my birthday back in January. Since then, I still haven't received my membership packet or magazine. As a matter of fact, the only things I've been privy to are many emails directing me to all of the d-23 merchandise available for purchase, and the emails directing me to the future special events (that also cost lots 'o dinero.) I called last month to get an update and received an apology and was told the packet would be on its way, but still haven't seen anything.

Will you be renewing your D-23 membership? Not me pirate:

I joined back when it first came out and my subscription expired yesterday. I won't be renewing. I really decided back when they opened up the WDW Christmas event last year and it sold out within seconds! I think they need to do some work on it to make it worth while for me!

D23 is about what I expected it to be.

I got my ID card and packet within a couple weeks of signing up.

I enjoy reading about the theme parks so the magazine is right up my alley. Although I do hope they investigate digital distribution as the tablet PC market grows. Storing all of these oversized mags is a challenge.

I did fly out to CA for the Expo and that was well worth the money. Timing hasn't worked out for any of the other events.

I think it only makes sense if you leave near the parks. I got a membership for christmas last year, in time for charter membership...I have not felt like I got anything from it yet, as I do not want to spend the money for merchandise, although I do enjoy reading the articles on the magazine. If I lived near the parks, it might make more sense to stay a member for the access to the events, but living up here in NH does not allow for easy travel.

Not a member...but for anyone who does enjoy just reading the magazine you can get them at Barnes and Nobles (15 bucks each) but there are only 4 a year of still less than membership if that is all you really do.

I am a "Charter Member" and have had a great time being a D23 member. I have attended many events, and every one has been more than the sum of its parts. The only ones I havn't been able to get in to is the Studio Tours. While they do sell out quickly, I have been able to get in with little effort by being at the website on time.

The customer service has helped me out. I had a problem with my renewel, but they researched it and fixed it.

Obviously, the highlight was the Expo. I can't wait for 2011.

I'm not pleased either. If you're not able to sit by your computer with your finger poised you won't be able to attend the events since they sell out in a matter of seconds. I joined to be able to experience exclusive events, even knowing they will be at an additional cost. I could not alter my vacation plans to attend the expo but for the other smaller events, gosh darn, I am out earning a living and have been shut out of every one of them. I'm not interested in exclusive expensive pins, do like the magazine, but worth it? No.---Kathy

I am mixed on D23. I have decided to renew. I love the magazine. As far as the events go, the only one I really tried getting into was the Member Preview of The Walt Disney Family Museum, but, like some of you have stated, I could not get in due to tickets going quickly. The merchandise is O.K. I have purchased the "Are You 23?" and Jiminy Cricket Member Tees, which I like. My plan is to go to the Expo in 2011 and decide if Membership is really worth it, considering it will be one of the only events that D23 holds that everyone can enjoy.

I was sitting there with my finger poised and i still didn't get tickets!?

I really don't see what we get for joining other than a nice magazine once in a while. I wish that the events were able to handle more people and there were more scheduled so we could maybe make at leawt one of them. And they are so far away from us, it is cost prohibitive for us to attend most of them if we had the chance. For the price, I don't think you get too much. My DH's is up for renewal in December and I don't know if we will renew or not. :cool2:

I got a membership for Christmas and it was a very thoughtful gift. If I get a renewal next Christmas that's fine, I probably wouldn't purchase it myself.
I have quite a few Disney books, magazines, fanzines and paper artifacts.
Having another stack of magazines around isn't all that enticing to me.:confused3

What number did you call for D23? I renewed my charter membership, but never received the promised Tinkerbell pin for renewal. DH emailed them a week or so ago, but hasn't received a response.

FYI: I was disappointed that it took so long to receive my magazine that was out in the store for a long time. What's the benefit of subscribing if you can pick up the magazine in the store long before you receive it in the mail. :sad2:

I'm a member and I enjoy reading the magazine, but I wish I was able to go to the Expo. My family is going to DLR for the first time in August and, of course, we're leaving the day before the Expo starts. It's depressing. I guess it just depends how close you live to special events I guess. Even if, you only save a couple dollars to get into the Expo right? Not really worth it.
