Cypress Pointe Resort Questions

So, based on some positive comments I've read here, I'm considering making a late October reservation at Cypress Pointe Resort for 4 adults (2 bedroom condo). Last year we stayed at Buena Vista Suites and it was fine. But this time we'd like a bit more room for 2 couples.

Questions:

1. Is this a timeshare dealy... and does renting a condo mean we must endure some high pressure sales presentation?

2. Are there certain condos, or buildings that are more desireable or nicer than others and can I request these?

3. I see the rate is $93.00 per night - does anyone know the taxes/fees that are added?

4. How are the washer and dryers in the unit? Are they full size, or the apartment (stackable) size?

5. Are the condo entry doors in an enclosed hallway (Hotel style), or do they open to the outside (apartment style).

thanks
Doug

I'll help as much as I can

My mom owns there and we always go thru her so I am not 100% sure. I have never had to although I have been asked on check in if I want to.

Phase 2 is the newer section with the 2 quiet pools and slightly larger units. Phase 1 is older but has just gone thru a complete renovation. It is also where the action is Volcano pool, clubhouse...

How are the washer and dryers in the unit? Are they full size, or the apartment (stackable) size? I think they are stackable.

Are the condo entry doors in an enclosed hallway (Hotel style), or do they open to the outside (apartment style).

Apartment style.

If you go through an online reseller like HotelKingdom there are no tours required. Only if you book through a special developer tour package (they will state that a tour is a requirement to get the price) do you have to attend the "90 minute" torture.

All unit assignments are made at check in so you can request anything but there are no guarantees.

That has to come from the source of the offer. The resorts do not set this policy.

At CPR (Phase 1 ) there is a seperate washer and 220V dryer stacked on top of each other so they are smaller sized. At CPGV (Phase 2) they use the more commonly seen all in one 120V apartment size stack.

All unit doors open to the outside - apartment style. There are no enclosed hallways.

Just an FYI - the second bedroom in a 2 bedroom unit has two twin beds.

And it's a very small bedroom that has no window. The 2nd twin is a trundle that pulls out from under the other one if needed. It would be a pretty tight fit in there with both beds in use. If one couple is getting the twin room, I'd think they might be justified in getting a break on price if it's being split. I have no idea how you'd pick which couple gets the twin room! That could be interesting.

It's a great place, but with 2 couples, I'd recommend getting the 3 bedroom, which has 2 master bedroom set-ups with King beds and very large bathrooms. Cost would be a bit more, but still reasonable if split between 2 couples.

we just came back from cypress pointe last week and we loved it. we had a 3 bedroom. it was my dh, ds, and dd. we were going to go with another family of 4 but they had to cancel, thats why we had the 3 bedroom. i do agree that the 2nd bedroom was very small, however it was perfect for out 2 kids. we loved the fact that we had a washer & dryer(they were stackable) every 2 days i did the laundry, and that was fine. on our 1st morning we got our "call" for our "welcome package" ,that was our call for our 90 min. tour. we didnt answer the phone. well we didnt have to go to the presentation because we do own a timeshare, and just exchanged it for last weeks trip. we will definetally go back to the resort on future trips to disney. also it is 2 blocks away from the downtown disney side entrance. i loved the fact that we were so close, and everything you need is just off the main street were you turn off the get to cypress pointe. well good luck with your trip.

I just wanted to tell you to check out the great reviews on the new hotel review board. There is a great review for this resort.
