cypress pointe or embassy grand beach resort

Hi everyone i found a great deal for either cypress pointe and embassy grand beach resort. I know that cypress pointe has done some renovations, exactly what has changed? I was wondering if anyone has been to either of the resorts and what is your feedback on it. Thanks a bunch.

I have never stayed at Cypress but have at the Embassy Grand Beach. It was ok, considering I got it thru SkyAuction, I got a great deal on a 3 bedroom. The bldgs were being remodled when I was there. I was not in one of the remodeled blgs, and it needed up dating! The unit space wise was good. I loved the large screen porch with ceiling fans. The grounds were ok, nothing great. There didn't seem much for to do there. They are on a lake, but I never saw anyone renting anything. Then again, I was there in October & not too many family's are there for a week with kids... I would stay there again if it was a good deal. It was an easy commute to Disney BUT.. and a big BUT... the traffic is hard to cross over to get in & out of the complex. There is no light there. I found it easier at times just to make a right then swing back around if I wanted to head south on 535 to get to International Drive/ SR 536 to get to Disney.

I've been at Cypress Pointe with my family, but it was summer of 2005, so it's been a little while back. At that time they were finishing up remodeling all of the units and ours was wonderful. All brand new appliances, bedding, furniture, and carpet. We had an absolutely great time there and had no complaints except that we had to leave after 8 days there, and we were so busy checking out WDW (our first trip there) that we didn't take enough "down time" to enjoy the resort. Hopefully you will get reports from others who have stayed there more recently, but at least back then the place was in great shape and a short/close commute to WDW parks. I don't mean to barge in here, but I was looking for info on Cypress as well and we will be there Feb 17-24! We will just miss you! Have fun!!

No barging at all!!! We will be at Cypress Pointe on Feb 21-23, We haven't stayed there since 1995. Then we are off to Silver Lake Resort for a week and finally a week at Grand Beach. Have a great time.

We'll be at Cypress Pointe Feb 17 - 25th. Booked thru Hotel Kingdom and got a rate of about $99/night. How old are your kids. My son is 14.

Hi , our DD is 13 years. I booked through Hotelbook.com for $93.50/night.

I have stayed at both resorts recently. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

Grand Beach 3 bedroom Advantages:
Large three bedroom 3 bath units are great for 6 people.
Is on a lake with long walking trail for morning or evening walks.
Has hammocks by the lake.
Has rental boats for rent (but they are a bit shabby).
Can fish from the dock or a boat (as long as you have a license).
Some units have fabulous views of the lake from a large screen porch.

Grand Beach Disadvantages:
Whirlpool tub in master is small. Only fits one person.
Slate floor is uncomfortable to walk on.
Chairs make loud noise scraping across floor.
Some units have awful views of power station.
Resort has limited parking.
Not thrilled with my experiences with the front desk staff.
Once room was not cleaned and available to almost 6PM.

Cypress Pointe 3 bedroom Advantages:
Nicer decor.
Quieter units.
Very close to Winn Dixie.
Pool is nicer.
Has small putt putt course.
Allowed me to check in early in the past
Is closer to a lot of restarants.

Disadvantages:
Walking up to the third floor gets old.
Not many units have good views.
The traffic is always heavy heading to and from the parks.
Kitchens only had a modest rehab and show wear.
Third bedroom is small.

I like them both, but my first choice would be Cypress Point if four or less people were staying in the unit.
