Hi All!

We (me, DH, 3 of our DDs - 21, 14, 11 - and our neice - 18) were trying to plan a trip to WDW this August. Unfortunately the accomodations that I was counting on fell through. :(

But I still would really like to try to make this trip. We stayed off site in 2001 at the Hilton Grand Vacations at Sea World (a gift from a friend of DH's) and had a WONDERFUL time. It was definately the nicest place that we have ever stayed.

Last year we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot in DD for their $20.03 rate. We have stayed at the All Stars, and at a Ft. Wilderness Cabin so you have comparisons with what we are used to.

I plugged in our dates into HotelKingdom and up came Cypress Pointe Grande Villas. I can get a 2 bedroom suite for $89 a night. That is a wonderful price!!!

But is it too good to be true? Will it be ok? Are there any hidden charges?

I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience with this place.

Thanks so much for any help that you can give! :)

Beth

Hi,

I have not stayed at CP yet, but hope to on our next trip. CPGV gets lots of good reviews on this board and is a popular resort just north of Crossroads area. It looks like you will have 6 family members along.

I think a 2 br unit at CP only has twin beds in the second bedroom. You might want to reserve a 3 br unit.

Thanks for your input herc. :)

I think that 2 bedrooms would be ok for us since there is a sofa sleeper in the LR and it says that you can get a rollaway at no additional charge.

The place where we were going to stay had 2 king sized beds and a sofa sleeper, but there were no kitchen accomodations. There would definately be a lot more room at the Cypress Point.

I was very depressed this afternoon when I found out about not getting this other place.

I am excited now! ::yes:: :)

They actually do not have rollaways ...... IF they did there would be no charge, but they don't. At least that's how it went with us. It was very nice, though and no hidden charges. We went during the offseason and got to check in at 8am. You'll like it.

Well, after doing a search on this board and "talking" to a couple of people through PMs, I decided to book a 2 bedroom Grand Villa at Cypress Pointe. :)

In doing so, I have saved over $150 (over the place that fell through) and have gained a full kitchen, a jacuzzi, a big screened TV, a washer and dryer, a lot of space, and I am sure many other things that I have not thought of.

26555- thanks for the information about the rollaways. Having one would be nice but not necessary. I will ask when we get there, but will not expect to get one. :)

I have never spent a lot of time on this board before. But in just the past 24 hours, I have determined that we may never stay on site again. There is just too much more out there for so much less money.

I have read disneysteve's posts promoting off site accomodations many times and have always agreed with him, but never as much so as I have since I came here yesterday. :)

I want to thank you for your help, and I look forward to being able to share my experiences when we return.

Beth

PS - Oh also, when I visited HotelKingdom last night, I clicked on their link for cars. In doing so, I have saved $28 on a minivan rental at Dollar - $209 a week - the cheapest rate that I have seen in the past couple of months! So another thanks to the Orlando Board! :)

Hooray for you, Beth! I agree, this board has been extremely helpful for those of us willing to stay offsite and check out other non-Disney (perish the thought! ;) ) attractions. I recently booked a 3 bdrm at CPGV (won a Sky Auction) for some friends...it's their first trip to WDW and they have a family of 9!! They're on a tight budget so staying onsite was out of the question, and the kitchen and laundry facilities will really come in handy for them. I hope they like the CPGV, and I hope you do too! :)

BTW, let's not tell too many of our DIS friends about all of these great offsite accomodations...soon we'll have all the Disney Resort folks grabbing our great deals!! :smooth:

You will not know what to do with all that space!

This is a very nice and realistic board! I love staying onsite, but I hate spending $150 or more for a small room (need a queen bed & a balcony for sanity so the all stars are out for us).

Most people here have done both on & offsite at NICE places so we know what we're talking about! It's a refreshing change from the resorts board (although I like it there too!). :)

About the rollaway thing. I do remember that one of the twin beds in the second bedroom had a trundle bed under it. So technically 3 can sleep in the second bedroom, in addition to 2 on the sofa bed, and 2 in the master bedroom. So it should sleep all of you just fine. If you would like just post and I can attempt to post a few pics of a couple of the pools on property.

Hi Heather! :wave2:

I saw another post about a trundle in the room with twin beds. If they have one that would be GREAT! I wonder if they have them in the Villas? And do they have them in every room with twin beds? Or is it an unexpected bonus?

I just thought that it would be nice if 2 people did not have to sleep on the sleeper sofa. But if so, it will be our 14 and 11 year old, who have no qualms about sleeping on the FLOOR!

I could book a 3 bedroom, but that is $40 more a night, $280 more for the week. I would rather spend that $280 another way if I could. (or not at all, so that it could go towards the NEXT trip! :teeth: )

I don't know if they're in all 2 bedroom units or not. It would seem a little weird if some had it and some didn't, but then again-there are lots of inconsistencies at every hotel/condo I've ever stayed in, so I guess it wouldn't surprise me if they're not in every 2 bedroom unit.
