Just back from a week at Cypress Pointe and we really enjoyed it.

Usually stay on site but we decided to try something different. Couple of nights at the Nick hotel and then on to Cypress Pointe.

We were in a three bedroom, booked through hotel kingdom for 89 per night. Checked in at 3 p.m., requested first floor, and got building one, first floor facing the lake area. It was very quiet there.

Unit was immaculate. Everything clean, all new appliances. Very roomy. The bathrooms are set up way too weird for me, toilets kind of out in the open, not really private (in the masterbedrooms).

Volcano pool area very clean and our kids enjoyed the small slides and hot tub (really hot).

The location was perfect, so close to downtown disney and near lots of shopping and restaurants. Brand new Walmart three miles down the road and we saved tons of money eating breakfast in our condo. They do have a little deli type thing and pizza delivery is pretty reasonable (like 11 bucks for a large cheese).

Having the washer and dryer was wonderful :flower:

Our only mistake was agreeing to do the timeshare presentation thing (they ask you at check in). They offered us 100 disney dollars (they initially offered 50 and we said no) and we stupidly agreed (we have never done one of these before). We sat through it, very honest that we werent going to buy and it took way over 2 hours to get out of there (they promise 90 minute presentation). However, that was our lazy day anyway. They do give a good breakfast with it and we got our disney money and promptly went and spent it :teeth:

We would definately stay there again.

Thank you for the review. We are staying at CP for 2 nights in November before our Disney Cruise. We wanted the extra space for our family of 5 and like that CP is near downtown Disney.

Thanks for the warning about the timeshare tour. We do plan on taking the tour (we don't have anything planned for Friday anyway) and the free breakfast and Disney Dollars will come in handy. I've got my "no" speech ready to go, but we have done these before.

We recieved $150.00 in disney dollars from the tour but we didn't call them until wednesday and we checked in the Saturday before ,maybe that's why we recieved more, I don't know.

mrsmom, you are such a smartie to hold out for 150 disney dollars. Boy, I might even consider one again for that much :cool1: We talked to some people there who only got 40 and one was a group of ten people.

dthogue, are we on the same cruise, November 26th eastern? We might be staying there before the cruise too. It really is a nice place to relax with plenty of room to stretch out. I can't get a rate as cheap for November but it is worth more than the 89 a night I paid.

Hi Jeanne,

Yes you are correct - same cruise. I realized that right after I submitted my reply. So glad that CP worked well for you. Did you book through Hotel Kingdom? We did and I'm still a little nervous that it will all work out ok. The prices are so low, its hard to believe!

Maybe we'll see you at the resort prior to the cruise! Can't remember, are you traveling with children?

Thank you for the report! We are staying at Cypress Point in July. I am prepared for the bathroom situation, but I am happy to hear that it was clean. I don't know if we will do the tour, but it might be worth it. We also got a great deal on a 3 bedroom from Hotel Kingdom. I think I will call and request a first floor with a lake view. :earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: pirate: princess:

Where was the new Walmart? Is it to the right (opposite direction as Crossroads), or to the left? Do I have to cross the major intersection where Crossroads is and continue straight?

I'm not a Walmart fan, but I'd try it if the price was right. I know the Win Dixie is closer. As long as the WD sells liquor were ok! (None of the grocery stores in my state sell liquor/beer in them!)

Yes, the Walmart is past the Crossroads area.

Just leave the resort, turn left on the main drag, go past Crossroads, go past highway, etc. and it is on the right a couple of miles down the road. It is new and very nice.

We actually purchase floats, beach towels, goggles, sunblock, stuff like that since we fly with seven kiddos, we really try to pack light and purchase that stuff down there.

We are not real budget people but I remember that milk there was like 1.89 (we pay 3.00 here) per gallon, and frozen waffles were 1.00 (we pay 2.00 here). We did run low on milk and juice later in the week and my husband went to Goodings? (crossroads) and milk was 4.00

That was our first experience with Hotelkingdom and it worked out great. They did not however communicate our room preferences with Cypress and so we just called ahead and made sure they knew we were hoping for first floor.

Tammy, forgot, our childrens ages are (at time of cruise)

dd 15 3/4, dd14, dd11, dd9, dd4, dd 2 3/4, and ds 2 3/4.

Think I remembered everybody :rotfl:

Jeanne,

I also have a DD who will just have turned 16 and a DD who will 13 (14 in March) - we'll have to get the girls together. Check in over at our cruise meet thread, maybe the girls could email before the cruise :earsgirl:
