A few years ago (2004 or 2005, I think), my youngest daughter and I started going to Florida at the beginning of the summer. That first year, on the day that we traveled down we were busy going from plane to plane and hadn't eaten anything other than whatever the airline gave us - biscotti or blue chips or something - so by the time we got to the hotel around 3:30 or so we were hungry. So off we went to the closest restaurant, an Olive Garden, for an early dinner. When we drove into the lot I said, "Look around when we get in there, we'll be lowering the average age." And, to her amazement, we did! By a lot! It became the inside joke between us whenever we'd go for an early dinner anywhere. At 20, she still comments on the "earlybird" population - though she now likes to slyly mention that it's only she who has much impact on the average age and not so much for her mother and me.
