Anyone know anything about it? Great prices. 5 miles from WDW. One bedroom suite is $619 for 10 nights. Cannot find anything about it on these boards.

TIA
Mary

If you are talking about Fairfield Cypress palms, I can tell you about it. It was a nice place. I prefer staying onsite, but since my M-I-L is a fairfield owner we got to stay there for free when we went with her. It was about a 15 minute drive to the parks give or take. It's nothing really fancy, just a basic condo with a basic pool. It was clean and fairly new. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

I don't know if it's Fairfield?

Cypress Palms Resort
5300 Fairfield Lake Drive
Orlando (Kissimmee), FL 34746

Found it on hotelkingdom.com?

Which would you choose. Port Orleans Riverside with some Pop Warner children being there for the first 7 nights or saving $600 and staying at Cypress Palms? I've never been to any Disney resort. All I know is that there will be Pop Warner teens there, as it is the overflow resort. And, I can get 10 nights at Cypress Palms for $619. I'm really confused and need opinions from people that have been there.

Thanks!
Mary

if you stay offsite you have to arrange your own transportation both from the airport and to the theme parks and WWoS. you also have pay to park at WDW.

if you stay onsite WDW will take of this.

the decision is yours but make sure you add the all extra costs.

I would go with Pop Century. It is closer to WWoS.

for offsite close to WWoS - there is also Silver Lake.

We were going to be renting a car for 5 days, anyway. I can rent it for the entire stay and we can drive ourselves to and from the airport, as well as the parks. I bought an AP because I thought I'd get an $89 moderate resort rate, which they don't do anymore. We literally will be saving over $600 by switching, so the $200 more for the rental car for the whole time, still leaves us with a lot of saved $$, plus we have a full kitchen at Cypress Palms, so we could shop and cook instead of paying for meals all the time. AP gets us free parking at the parks.

Any other downfalls? I'm really trying to be logical about this. We'll be gone almost all day, every day, from the resort. What other pitfalls can you see? I love the look of POR and I'm really trying to come up with a reason to keep that ressie.

BTW, what is WWoS? Wide World of Sports? We don't plan on going there. Just the 4 main parks, plus the beach and Kennedy Space Center.

And, I'm wondering, is this hotelking.com thing really for real? $61.00 a night for a suite seems like too good to be true. How many have used it and has anyone ever had an issue? Why can I NOT locate a telephone number for the hotel?

Mary

yes it is the wide world of sports.

okay then try this website - you have to bid - but sometimes you can get great deals

www.skyauction.com

if you don't like to bid then try
www.condodirect.com

both places you are staying for 7 days - but if you want to stay less that is fine too.

Cypress Pointe (DD side) and Silver Lake (AK side) are very close to WDW.

so is Bryan's Spanish Cove, Sheraton Vistana

Thanks. I'll go check those out. We are staying for 10 nights. Best price I've seen is on the hotelkingdom.com. Just wondering if it's a for real deal. Seems to good to be true at $61.00 a night, but I'm a VERY skeptical person.

Mary

it is real.

I have deal with hotelkingdom and hotelmartusa - you got what they promised.

I guess it depends on what you want. We really like to take breaks from the parks mid day so on site works so much better for that. My son is autistic and that is really a must for us so it is well worth the extra money spent to stay at a disney resort. Like I said, Cypress Palms was a nice place, but I would go with a Disney resort every time.

Fairfield Cypress Palms is a nice place, very clean with pleasant grounds and the basic, family-friendly amenities. We really liked it a lot and would go back readily. It was only 10 minutes from our parking lot to boarding the tram (not a major holiday period). We returned to our room for a meal or swim when we wanted with no trouble at all. It was just as fast as waiting around for a Disney bus for 15-20 minutes! For a $400-$600 savings on a trip where you plan to spend nearly all day at the parks, I'd take it and enjoy nicer meals at the parks - or at least, less stress on our budget. :) Since you plan to spend your time at the parks, most of your expensive resort time would be spent sleeping - not worth it, IMHO.

Your discounted rate is probably due to your booking the smaller 1BR side of their 2BR lock-off condos. They have 2 kinds of 1BRs there. The larger deluxe side has a jacuzzi tub in the master bath and a very large kit/LR/DR with a rear-facing balcony or patio overlooking landscaping or a pool area. The smaller standard side has a regular hotel-style bathroom, a small den/LR with a table for 4 and a mini-kitchen on one wall of it and the windows look out to the common courtyard entryways or parking lot. Both sides have a king bed in BR, a sleeper sofa in the LR, 2 TVs, all the same kitchen appliances (just different sizes) and a stacked washer/dryer in a closet. Still, it would be more comfortable for sleeping privacy and having breakfasts in your condo than a hotel room at POR.

Another option would be to take a week at FF CP, then move onsite for your last few days. By your statement, the Pop Warner crowd would be gone then. You'd get the onsite experience for a portion of your trip without paying so much. We've spent a week offsite and ended with a night or two onsite, especially in a deluxe hotel. Once onsite, we just enjoy the hotel itself and rest at the end of our trip before returning to our busy lives back home. Just a thought. :)

Well said Lisa P! I would take the $600 savings over staying onsite any day.
Like Lisa said you can stay your last few days onsite. You might be suprised and like staying off-site better!
Have a great trip!
And please don't forget to give us a trip report when you return.

Thanks. Well, to fill everyone in on my continuing saga... An incredibly wonderful DISer, who owns timeshare points at Cypress Palms, has reserved for my family a 2BR deluxe for the entire stay and I'll be paying her $60.00 per night, to help cover her maintenance costs. That saves us $593.00. The rental car will be about $200 more than the original cost for 5 days, so we are saving $393.00. There is a washer and dryer, so I don't have to pack as many clothes, since it's free to wash and dry. We'll have a full kitchen, so we don't need as many ADRs, since we can cook our meals. It may not be quite as convenient as staying onsite, but it takes me back to my original budget for the trip, that I would have had, IF Disney had continued with the AP rates for value season that they have historically done.

Thanks to everyone for all the advise. I feel like this will be a much better fit for my family and I won't have the cheerleaders to deal with for over half my trip. At least, not at my resort.

Have a marvelous day!

I know you will enjoy it. I didn't mean to sound negative. The drive isn't too bad, it is just that we always seemed to get turned around or miss an exit when we were driving back and forth to the parks which was frustrating since we had been used to leaving the driving to Disney before. But if you are saving a lot of money I guess that makes it worth it. I hope you have a great time!

Good for you- in the future just so you know- hotelkingdom.com is for real- we used them this past sumer- got a great rate for a 3bdr- was less than staying in 1 hotel room
