Anyone stayed there recently? Any tips? Any thoughts? We are staying there with SIL, who works for Marriott. Nice rate!

We stayed there a few weeks ago. Building 51 right next to main pool / bar & food. Bar food was good, wings from the pizza chain on site with 1/2 a dozen beers while in the hot tub was perfect after walking in the parks all day :thumbsup2.

Caught bass in the lake and played golf at something pines that was around the corner but is the course on site. Will play a few rounds here the next trip instead of going elsewhere.

The other Marriott's I've stayed at in the past (This is the 3erd in Orlando and 1/2 a dozen in other places) have been in more pristine condition, but I liked this one the best.

You could spend a week just hanging at the resort or use it like a hotel room, it works for both.

The staff at this Marriott timeshare resort is very accommodating to guests who makes requests - much more so than any other Marriott that we've stayed at. I'd suggest that you or your SIL call the resort a week or so in advance of your check-in date to request a location. The following link shows a map of the resort - https://www.my-vacationclub.com/common/respages/pdf/resorts/cy/cy_sitemap.pdf. I'd suggest one of the buildings around the lake. Buildings 60, 62 and 63 (there is no building 61) are close to the recreation/activities center; buildings 64 and 65 are near the so-called Island pool area; and 50-53 are close to the main pool area and the resort store and food options. Buildings 54-56 are also around the lake but they're in an area with a lot of mature trees so it seems darker and more secluded over there.

Regardless of which building you end up staying in you should enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the resort. And since all of the buildings have recently been refurbished you'll find the villas to be high-end accommodations.

send my cousins a couple of years ago - they loved it - even better than Disney's OKW.

I stayed there in 2002 and LOVED it! It's a great resort. Very quiet and nicely maintained. We're staying at Horizons by Marriott in Jan and that's practically across the street!

If there are any fellow DIS'rs out there that would like a weeklong reservation at Cypress Harbour, we've got one in early January, 2009 that we may not be able to use. Cypress Harbour is a great alternative to WDW, as it is only 4 miles from the Rte. 536 entrance; and we'll let the week go at a good rate if someone can use it. PM or email me at mhdts@cox.net if you're interested.

Oh we LOVED CH! Went last April and it was amazing! It wasn't 100% perfect, and I've read some negative reviews on tripadvisor. But I truly believe the people who leave those negs. are used to staying at the Ritz. We just started LAUGHING when we saw all the SPACE we had... it was crazy! The master bedroom, even DD's guest room were HUGE. Of course, if you're trying to pack 8 people in it's too tight. I wouldn't necessarily recommend opening the pullout in the second bedroom. But for a family of four it's great.

One thing about requests, though... when we went, we went overboard: top floor, lake view, near pools, newly renovated. We got all of those, and they were VERY nice to accommodate. HOWEVER, we were too busy to look at the lake (lake view) and nearly all the buildings are only a short walk to one of the three pools. We probably could have taken an older unit if they had them. We ended up checking in late due to our requests. Hopefully we'll go back next year and our only request will be top floor - it's nice not having footsteps over you, although I don't know if you even hear other people...

We couldn't get over how friendly everyone was - literally EVERY employee we saw said hello to us. Really... we tested the theory a few times, and it's true!

You may want to bring (or buy at walmart) some laundry detergent - we did laundry half way through so we only had to pack half our necessary clothes - but they provide dish detergent.

Oh, you'll have a great time - I'm jealous!

Does anyone know what type of filters are needed for the in-room coffee makers?

I used standard basket filters inside the washable one, as I can never get those clean, and I believe there were some there already. But I had brought some just in case (and my own coffee because we're funny that way)
