Cypress Grand Villas Resort questions

We have reservations later this month. Getting ready to call the resort with requests and questions. Maybe someone can help me out.

I understand some of the units have been refurbished. Any building number or name I should ask for? Also, would like to be further from the road if there is any traffic news.

Do they have hair dryers and irons?

What kitchen appliances do they have? Wine opener? Crock Pot? Large skillet? Trying to figure out shopping list.

Any other extra you can give would be GREATLY appreciated!

TIA

I am assuming you are talking about Cypress Pointe Grand villas! We are leaving to stay there next week. I can try to report back after we get there! We did stay on the resort side last year, and know they had a corkscrew, but don't remember a crock pot, cause I would have used it, we get tired of eating out everynight, and would love a crock to through stuff in! They do have irons, and hair dryers, the hair dryers are in the drawer in the bathroom, well at least on the villas side! I don't know what ones have been refurbed, but I am calling tomorrow with my room request. I am asking to be in D,E, or F building, higher floor, pool view. I will also ask for a refurb but don't expect it, i will be happy if I can get my other requests. I will have my laptop, and will try to send you a reply once there after Monday, March 7th!

We were lucky to get a renovated unit when we stayed last November. I think that only two buildings had been done. More will be done this fall and next year. Just ask for a newly renovated room when you check in and hope for the best.

The room was absolutely beautiful. We used the blender and toaster, but do not remember seeing a crock pot. I think the biggest skillet was 12". I remember hair dryers and think there was an iron in the 2 bedroom unit. There should be a wine opener but we didn't use it.

I would choose a newly renovated room over any other request for views, floors, etc. There is little traffic around the resort so road noise should not be an issue.

DO you remember what building you were in? Cause when I call they won't tell me what ones have been re-done! If you remember what letter of the building you were in, I would be super duper happy!

Building "F" has the 2 bedroom "A" side renovations completed. Building "G" was due for completion by Thanksgiving 2010 so I assume it is also done by now. They have started on some other buildings but none are listed as done yet. The "B" side (1 bedroom lock outs) have all been renovated in all buildings. See the pictures here.

So if I try for upper floor, pool facing, in building F, do you think I will get a newly refurbed room. Tototoo, do you know if they are reasonable when it comes to requests? I am hoping they are. We got a request last year, so heres to hoping this year! I will be calling today, as we arrive Monday!

They do the best they can to honor requests. Naturally it all depends on availability. Hope you get a renovated unit!

Looks nice! I'm going to check in to staying there for our trip next year. Anyone have more photos? Love the turtle pool.

Any more information on this? We are leaving in three weeks - can't wait! Does anyone know if the second bedroom in the renovated rooms has two twin beds still, or one bed? We have three kids, so would like the twin but I am not sure if it is available in the renovated rooms.

We were just there last month and had a lovely renovated unit. Yes, twin beds in second bedroom. Any other questions?

Yes:goodvibes
What unit did you stay in? Did you call and reserve before you went down, or when you checked in? Did you reserve a specific unit/area or did you just request a renovated room? Any other comments about your stay is much appreciated!
Thanks!:thumbsup2

Our stay was nice. Not many kids, mostly "old people" according to my kids.

I called about two weeks before our stay and asked for a renovated unit. They were great on the phone, and had it all straight when we got there.

One warning: they sent us over to talk to the "tour guy" who tried to convince us to come to a 90-minute sales presentation in exchange for discounted tickets. We passed. They called everyday, usually later in the morning. One day I chewed them out because my husband had a migraine and I didn't want unnecessary phone calls, but they still called again on a horrible rainy day thinking we didn't have anything better to do. We always had something better to do, even if it was just watching tv in the condo.

We loved the screened in balcony and we could actually see the Epcot and MK fireworks from there. Very cool and relaxing. No view of the pool, but that penthouse view from the fifth floor worked for us.

We enjoyed two restaurants nearby: Giordanos deep-dish pizza and Steak and Shake. Both were right across the street, quick and affordable. We hit both of those twice. Traffic right outside the resort is a bit of a bear, took about 15-20 minutes to get to the parks, IF the traffic was moving. It reminded me of Vegas, it went on all day and night (you can't hear any of it from the condo).

I can't remember the unit number...I think it was G something. Sorry, I'll post later when I ask my husband.

Anyway, nice size unit, fabulous bath-tub (bring some bath salts), huge shower, nice second bathroom. Weird cable on tv, that took some work to figure out, finally found the guide (that would have helped). $20 for wireless internet for the week, and it wasn't really reliable because they had just installed a new system. Full dining room table, full-size refrigerator and stove/oven, big pantry.

Hope that answered everything. If you think of anything else, let me know!

Thank you so much :goodvibes
We leave in two weeks, so I am going to give them a call today. We actually rented three units for my parents and in-laws as well. Hopefully they can try to get us refurbished units - that would be great!

We stayed two summers ago with my parents time share. Very nice, very spacious!!!! But a pain to get to Disney. Yes, it is close, but with traffic and stop lights it could take up to 25 min just to get on the highway or to Disney property. Would not stay there if I was doing WDW exclusively.
