I am just going to move this over to Trip Planning for you :goodvibes

Yup we went on 1/1. It was my daughte and I with my parents. We had an awesome time. The park was not crowded at all. It was so slow they had workers working several rides a piece. Which possed a problem sometimes. But it was awesome. The rides were really good. And we loved the water ski show. It was a very good day. I would say its a good deal for the price.

Don't expect all the bells and whistles of the big parks, but it is a nice place to go to get away from the crowds. There is alot for the kids as well as the adults to do. It is one of the cleanest parks around in my opinion. Be sure to keep an eye out for discount coupons too. There are some floating around right now for $3.00 off.

I have driven past Cypress Gardens a few times on our way to other places but never called in. I can't remember exactly how far it is - anyone know how long of a drive from WDW please?

We went there in October on Columbus Day weekend as we figured it would be quieter than the main parks. Well it was really quiet but it was great as the kids DD(7) & DS (11) were able to walk on nearly all rides and in most cases stay on rides for 3 otr 4 turns. There were no real thrill rides more like fairground rides but my kids had a ball. There is also botanical gardens to look round and a water park although we just spent the time on the rides and seeing some shows. There is a very good water ski show and there was a Halloween Phobia Ice Skating show which was excellent.

Oh and it was really cheap to get in - we were asked if we were AAA members and we said we were AA members and showed our card and got $20 off the total admission BUT that's not all we were directed to guest services and they issued all the members in our party (6) with tickets for another day which were valid for the next 7 days! Unfortunately we weren't able to use them but my kids when asked what the top 3 things on holiday were always say MGM, IOA and Cypress Gardens - even over Discovery Cove! So a real hit with our family.

About 60 miles here is the link to the directions.

Many do not remember this park. It was one of the original tourist attractions in Fla, pre Mickey days. The new owner has done a wonderful job in restoring even with all the hurricans in 2004 and 5. We went in february of 05. Butterfly house, gardens, ski show, just delightful and slow paced. The rides are not major big rides, but if one wants to take in one or two they are fun. Look at the concert info as the concerts are free with addmission unless you want reserved seat. We did this in Feb too and it was great. This is a relaxing park, nice break from all the other big amusements.

On Jan. 2, 1936, entrepreneur Richard Pope opened Cypress Gardens. Later, stars like Johnny Carson and Esther Williams performed at its stadium, surrounded by botanical gardens, a butterfly conservatory, and a Florida-shaped pool.

I don't think it's as much as 60 miles away. You go to Haines City then Winter Haven. Directly opposite Cypress Gardens there is a Perkins restaurant and a large K Mart.

No she probably meant AA-Automobile Association, as opposed to "Triple A"
