Cvs weekly 8/30-9/5

I stayed at the Marriott diagonal from that CVS in NOLA!!! I could see CVS from my window!! I sent a picture on my phone to my DH and told him that I got the best view ever!!!

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl:

I am baaaaack, going to write about the CVS stops when I can, but for now here is a cool looking store in NOLA but they say they don't give extra bucks for purchases, which might explain why everything I wanted was in stock there ;)

:lmao: My DH saw the pic you took earlier and he was like "OMG, they take pictures of their CVS' too??!!!!????" I explained it was taken on your vacation, well that answer got an "You mean they "do" CVS on vacations too??!!" I said Hey do you like not having to pay for stuff and he said Well yeah!!! To which I replied "Nuff' said!"

Welcome back LanaJae! We missed you! Glad you survived your trip :goodvibes

Thanks! I missed you more lol

I am sicker than a dog now, got some kind of virus, probably from someone on the ship who can't be bothered to wash their hands. I managed to make it to CVS though.

Whaaaat? :scared1: Can they do that?! The streets look wet in the picture. What happened to "It never rains in So. Calif....." (singing poorly as I write! :rotfl2:)

Welcome back! We missed you!

I was in SoCal last time, this was wet wet wet New Orleans. It poured and poured that night.

The closest CVS to Disney doesn't give extra bucks either, but if you bring in an ad, they will adjust to the sale price and put extra bucks on a gift card. I tried that angle at this store and I got crickets and a stare, it was very funny. I had the ad in my hand from MN.

I guess if a store is in a "tourist" area, they can opt out on extra bucks.

I had it out with our favorite cashier today. They were out of everything (except they have lots of Glade candles, no one else has them).

I found Tooth Tunes toothbrushes in clearance for $2.25 each so I decided to get 5 and use my $2/10 oral care from the Ready-Fill. I have these cute little neighbor kids and I like to give them things when I see them. So I get those and a clearance benefiber for $2.97 because I had a $3 CRT (forgot my mfg.) and something else, I forget. She told me that I didn't spend $10 on Oral Care, she said I only spent $9, so I said I got 5, they were over $2 each, that's over $10 - she argues! Insists I only spent $9. Finally she lets me use it just this once. ARGH! I should have put everything back as there was no reason to be buying any of it anyway. It takes an act of congress to buy a clearance item there now too.

Here's this week's sale from my blog. The links don't copy over though.

Very nice!!

Well I did my shopping today. I had to spend 39.50 ECB's, and ended up spending exactly that amount, as well as less than $1 OOP (on a GC). I got back $34 ECBs! YAY I didn't lose too many and I burned some on milk, a 16 pk of Charmin, some kitchen towels, and Energizer batteries. Almost everything else was free or a moneymaker. I love it when everything works out!

I was looking forward to trying out the Aquafresh ISO and the Sensodyne foam toothpastes. I was going to get both, use a 2/10 oral care from the readyfill book, and a $1 Q for each of them to get them free. BUT my store didn't have either of these products! Has anyone seen them?

I saw them at Walgreens, but not at CVS. Glad you did so well when you were pressed for time!

Oh funny! I got in front of it and sighed and told my family that my vacation was now complete and I thought it was the most beautiful landmark I'd ever seen.

PMP!!! Only you guys would understand. It really was different to look at - and much safer to post than some of the Bourbon Street photos (which now, sadly, I won't let your hubby see because he made fun of CVS shopping - just kidding!)

I forgot to say that I love the South! Everyone is so nice and friendly and the cruise passengers were mostly local people too. I was told many times that I talked funny and some would have me say words and then they'd laugh. Mississippi looks exactly like northern MN in the summer, where I was born, it's all jack pine trees. Only difference is we didn't have snakes hanging from the trees lol

We also went to Graceland and that was weird because it was the week after the anniversary of Elvis' death and full of memorials sent from all over the world. The odd thing was that many of them were from South American countries - almost like they just discovered him - some sent elaborate paintings and decorated guitars. A worker told me that many people requested the flowers, etc. be placed in a specific building or location and they always comply with the requests. Some people wrote letters to Elvis like he was still alive and mounted them on big posters.

Oh geez, I knew that too! You drove there and I remember you talking about New Orleans. (but NOLA meant North L. A., didn't it? :lmao:) Mind warp here. :upsidedow And I was having such a good time singing that song.... :lmao: Hope you feel better soon!

I was at CVS yesterday too and ran into her as well but for once (FOR ONCE!) she was pleasant after SHE made a mistake with a raincheck for notebooks. The other weekend cashier/mgr. (?) had to verify what I was saying to her was true. I expected her to glare at me with loathing but she was actually pleasant. I don't expect this will ever happen again. My big find there was .25 clearance Wylers lemonade pack of 8 to go. I took a look at all the watches but decided to pass. I also saw the toothbrushes you bought and left them for you! ;)

I also went to Maryland last Wed. on the way home from work and you are so right about the cashier there. She must be taking happy pills. She greeted me like an old friend when I walked in the door and chatted nicely throughout our check out even though I asked for a raincheck which usually sends her over the edge.

One of my favorite cashiers at the new Woodbury store went back to college so Friday night was her last night cashiering. Sad to see her go although they are all SUPER nice at that store. Is Rob still mgr. there because I see a new guy a lot now. Anthony in Mahtomedi is also a fav and he's heading back to HS for his senior year. He is one of the sweetest kids I've ever known.

Loved hearing about Graceland and ITA about people from the South. They are so very nice and friendly. Snakes hanging from trees? :scared1: Maybe I will avoid MS big time!

:rotfl: We do have a tendency to think a lot of northern accents are "funny," don't we! Hope you weren't offended or anything lol. Glad you had a fun trip but bummer about being sick now. Get better soon!

Miracles can happen! Its so funny that we both like and dislike all the same employees.

If I don't take it easy on spending now, my next vacation will be in East LA :rotfl2:

Thanks a lot for leaving those toothbrushes so I could get schooled in math :rotfl:, I'll be sure to leave you something that doesn't add up to $10 soon :lmao:

No way, I enjoyed it. I get hit really hard from my friends on the east coast and it took me a long time to figure out why they'd laugh at things I said, and it's because we often end sentences with a preposition, such as, "do you want to come with?"

Lana said to me "it's just like the Forrest Gump movie here, the kids start every sentence with "my momma said."

So I don't know what to buy today, I am running out of extra bucks. I think this tax thing will probably cause me to be a lot more selective. I had to pay "bottle deposit" for the first time on this trip and that really got to me - now I'm feeling like my cans and bottles are worth a lot of CVS money :lmao:

Just back....got the Aquafresh, Sensodyne, Bounce dryer bars (excited to try!), Glade reed diffusers (excited to try!), pantene hairspray, Natural instincts hair dye, Dawn (to use up a coupon) and some of the .77 Hershey bars (love my smores, ;)) and my free cvs handsoap. I did the deals on both cards with the $5/$25 and the $2/$10 Oral care coupon from the ready fill booklet. Came out ahead on one card and broke even on the other.....not too bad of a day:thumbsup2

Were you able to use both coupons in both transactions? Wish my stores would allow that :(

The new Woodbury marked Summer I (or II?) down to 75% today. I got two beach towels for $3.50 each and two coolers, one for $2.00 and one for $5.00 which I'll give to my DS and his family. There was a ton of stuff left.

When you got your papers at the Dollar Store, were they ALL missing the SS insert? I'm so miffed! I bought three of them and all three were missing the SS insert. :headache:

You are so right about the tax thing. I know you explained it once, but could you tell me again why this is happening suddenly here in MN? It can't be due to that little .025 increase or whatever the number was, so what happened? CVS policy changed here?

People steal the inserts, you have to go through all of them there even though they get irritated when you do it. Sorry that happened!!

I am not dressed yet (sick) but I will get my butt over to Woodbury - THANK YOU!!

The tax issue came from an audit initiated by state revenue departments (probably MN like everything else - grrr). The states said CVS cannot reduce the cost of merchandise with extra bucks because they are reimbursed by manufacturers, but they can reduce the cost when a CVS-issued coupon is used. That's why you see the $5 from the Ready-fill as "CVS coupon" and technically if you use a CRT for a CVS item, it should also say "CVS coupon" and reduce taxable amounts. They always charged tax pre-mfg. coupons, but never pre-extra bucks until July. It's still not fully implemented in all states and there's a glitch - if you use an extra buck as final payment and have it adjusted down, it will cut your tax - you might give up 10 cents on an extra buck, but it could save you dollars in tax depending on what you bought and what mfgs. were used, etc. It's difficult to plan so ends up being just a bonus when it works.

Also, if they don't scan your card prior to ringing up items, it can work in your favor too on the tax problem because that allows subtotals to go negative. You mostly likely will have to add a candy bar, but it still reduces tax so the candy bar ends up free.

Hope that makes sense!

I just got a dishwasher in my kitchen (finally!!!!) and need to get stocked up on dishwasher soap. So anyone have suggestions?

Right now CVS has Cascade on sale for $4.49 and there are .25 and .50 coupons in the P&G insert. Is that a fairly good deal or is WalMart or Kroger going to have a non-sale price that is better?

I know CVS when there are ECBs in the deal and coupons is cheaper but I know their non-sale items tend to be much higher priced than other stores.

Congratulations! You will love it, I was 30 before I ever had one and my first was really old and noisy but worked great, changed my life lol

I buy the Electrosol pellets at Sam's Club if I run out, but mostly I wait for the $2.25 coupons for Electrosol and then I buy lots of papers that week. That coupon comes out about 4 x's a year and people on other message boards will post where to get it nearly free using the coupon.

I am not fussy about brands, but I can't stand messing with powder or liquid or gel so I get pellets/tablets.

Lol, LanaJae said exactly what I was going to. I don't know of a current deal for them, but I use the Electrasol tablets, too. I don't like the mess of liquid or powder and the packets that have are in thin plastic like the Cascade ones don't seem to dissolve in my dishwasher (I don't think our water gets hot enough). I love the Electrasol tabs and best of all they offer $2.50 coupons often. they are also a ECB deal pretty often at CVS. Whenever I get those coupons I stock up. I currently have 11 boxes in my stockpile! :rotfl:

I had to add, when I was pregnant with my first child I asked for a dishwasher for my birthday. It is still the best gift I ever received! I'd take it over jewelry anyday -- or at least until we are done with sippy cups. Enjoy!

I was SO embarassed today at my CVS. I had two transactions. The first was a rain check for Electrasol Tablets from forever ago. She had to call a manager over to help me out. The line was getting forever long. I told the cashier I'd wait in the line to do my second transaction. She insisted I do it now.

Then, I rang up my other things - LOTS of things. LOTS of coupons. Many of them beeped for some reason. She got them all done and in. I used a gift card and still had $30 on my total. I handed her an ECB. Well, you can't use your ECBs after a gift card. She tries forever to put them in manually. The line is growing. Seriously, growing - 9 - 10 people long.

She calls a manager. I need to void the last transaction and start again. UGH!!!! I told her I'd wait in the growing line. It's now 15 people deep. She insists I stay. I do. Everything goes okay. I end up paying $1.73 for $80 worth of stuff. I used $28 in ECBs and get back $40.

So, all is well in CVS land. But, my face was VERY red!!!!! I hate when this happens!! But, I have a ton of snacks for our upcoming vacation as well as some stocking stuffers!!

I made out LanaJae style today!!!:lmao:

I bought the Candle for 6.99 used a $3 c/o
3 soy candles @3.29 used 3 free coupons
2 Dawn at 97c used 2x .20c c/o
1 pr googles on 75% clearance
Had 6.98 in ecb and $4/20 TOTAL oop 18c

I also got the Planters nuts, the Lays ,this was a goodie as I had c/os for B2G1 so only paid for 1 of 3I picked up more clearance stuff With c/os,ecbs and 4/20 total was $1.09 .The 2 regular cashiers are hilarious in there always ask if I am done or coming back so they can say BYE!!!!!:rotfl2:

The Oral care coupon doesn't have the usual wording on it about not being combined with any other $x/$xx offers. It scans through just fine with no beeps when you use the $5/$25 coupon. The only way you will have a problem is if the cashier manually pulls it out and says you can't use it.

I think it was a great birthday present too! It's funny that we both like the same, everyone I know uses the liquid, which makes me think that there's always a lot that goes to waste.

According to my mom Elvis is alive and well - inside of me! Elvis "died" just before I was born. She came out of the delivery room to the news and told everyone that I would be a performer.........I think they must have had some amazing pain drugs back then:lmao:
